THR Groin pain turned the corner at 9 months

Feeling a little better today, Tylenol on schedule, with half a Norco last nite. Using the walker faithfully, with partial weight bearing. I slept better last night, abut 6 hours, hoping as my hip settles down I will start sleeping 7 - 8 hours.
I ordered some new sandals and slippers that got here yesterday, they are going to have to wait a few days before I try them on. Feel that it is a bit much for my hip right now to change anything.
Rest, Ice, and Tylenol seems to be working with a few gentle exercises thrown in.

No PT for two weeks, the PT is on vacation. This seems like a good time for a break.

See the surgeon on Thursday and having first post op X-rays, should be an interesting visit.

Hi Pumpkin,
Glad to read you're feeling better! Enjoy the PT break...guessing you will.
Hope you meet your sleep goals soon and wish you a great appointment with your surgeon on Thursday!
@Pumpkin

I'm pleased to hear you got some better sleep. Our new hips certainly call the shots in the early days. They set their own pace and it gets a bit frustrating at times but if they say they need rest and medication. We soon find it's easier to just listen. All the best with your appointment!

Glad to read you are feeling a bit better. Slow and steady!

Today exhaustion is the theme, took a nap on the couch then went to bed to rest.
Took a quick shower and am looking forward to a good nights sleep to get ready for my post op tomorrow. :sleeep:

Best Wishes for your post op today. I hope you slept well, you're feeling chipper and ready to face the day! :thumb:
Happy Thursday!

Well, it did not go too well. Got into it about my groin pain, did not get to my other questions. Left there feeling gaslighted and angry.
We stopped on the way home and had lunch out, first time due to lack of transportation. It was relaxing and I am feeling better this afternoon.

When asked about the groin pain she said groin pain was normal? I do not remember that many people here complaining about groin pain or muscles spasms after a THR. She wanted to prescribe gabapentin, I said no it makes me looney toons. So I am getting a medrol pack for inflammation, cannot take OTC anti inflammatories due to my BP going up significantly.
I asked for a copy of my x rays when I left.
So anyway that was it.

I’m sorry you’re having such a hard recovery. Wow. :console2:

Did you see OS or PA? PA’s drive me nuts!
I ended up changing doctors cause PA had so many ridiculous answers to my serious questions.
Hope you start feeling better.

I saw the OS, generally I think PA's are excellent and have more time to talk to you.
That was the most dysfunctional MD appointment I have ever had, I do not think we were even talking about the same thing. I suspect she thought I was drug seeking because I was resistant to her suggestions. With the mention of gabapentin I was in full visual memory of the worst day on gabapentin and how miserable I was, and barely functioning. She went from that to the medrol pack which I am familiar with for my asthma, which is OK.
I don't like taking all the steroids but it may help. I also felt she brushed off the severe pain I've had after doing hip flexion ex, driving, getting into a SUV.

Have an appointment with her nurse in a few weeks, probably will not see the OS again.
After having an excellent relationship with my previous OS who retired this was totally unexpected.

She ordered the wrong mm relaxer for me so am going to have to straighten that out. This mix up goes to show how important good communication is with your health care providers. I was so flustered I forgot I had the correct medication written on my list of questions.

Should be interesting to read her note.

On a positive note, she must have scared the :censored: out of my hip, it has been feeling better.

Sorry this follow-up visit with your OS turned into a disappointing ordeal. Just when things seem to be stabilizing, the roller coaster takes another dip.

Glad the hip is feel a bit better today. Sending hugs :console2:

Sorry to hear about that visit, what a shame! On the subject of hip flexion. My hip reacts and for a while got pretty painful if I say for example, sit upright or dif any kind of bending. Over time it has got better. It still reacts a little bit to those movements but it's now clearly healing and coping because it's not a pain as such. It just kind of stopped suddenly about three weeks ago.

:heehee: Funny, but great news!

It's too bad you ever felt flustered. It sounds like the OS was dismissive. Makes me wonder is she was rushed. I think sometimes they are behind and in a hurry, then consequently we feel that energy and it makes us anxious. Too bad you weren't able to have this one LAST  surgery with the old OS that you had a great relationship with. Behave yourself now and don't be getting too wild on this noisy holiday!

The wildest we got today was watching fireworks on TV
:heehee: Wow wee, settle down you party animals!

I caught some of the fireworks from NYC on tv and they were pretty spectacular compared to the fireworks neighbors shoot off every year. Neighbors are good, but no comparison to NYC's. I like how they synchronize the music with the fireworks.
Have a good weekend!

Just wait ‘till next year at our 250th birthday. I’m guessing we’ll be tired of fireworks after watching whatever celebrations are done.

2026 4th Celebration is sure to be grand. :welome:

My hip has stayed pretty stable since Thursday when it decided to settle down out of the blue. More irritated than painful.
I can take a few steps here and there, my hip gets irritated quickly, and I listen, staying with the walker to keep it happy. Doing my gentle exercises and feel I am making slow but sure progress.
