THR Groin pain turned the corner at 9 months

Yay for progress! :egypdance:

Wow……this is progress! I know you feel so much better without the cath. Allow yourself a good rest from all of that. You deserve it.

Today's weekend caregiver is detail oriented so I put her to work going through my CPAP equipment that I no longer use. Tossed quite a bit of old stuff and my supply box is now organized.
Rested the rest of the day. :sleeep:

Having the catheter out is a great relief, much easier to get around and take care of myself.

Things seem to be turning around today. Yesterday was miserable, woke up today feeling better. Pain intensity way down and I was able to walk double the steps from last week. :fingersx: That tomorrow is good day. Re scheduled my PT eval for next week, should be ready for more activity by then.
Thursday my dressing comes off during my first post op visit.
Figure the spasms set me back at least a week.

Nasty old spasms...be gone! :arrow:
Thankfully the spasms seem to be history and things are looking up. I hope you have a good day!
@Pumpkin

This is really great news, Chris. I’m so happy to hear you’re feeling better. You’ll make up that setback in no time.

@Pumpkin Just getting caught up: I'm glad you are starting to feel better, Chris. I remember that first couple of weeks being pretty rough and yours were rougher than most. Blessings for comfort and consistent, positive recovery victories.

Thank you for your supportive comments and likes, they are much appreciated.

Today is not as good as yesterday, but is definitely better than the last 13 days. I have suspects, the colder weather today, and a low barometer (my favorite thing to blame for joint pain).

Thursday is my 2 week check up, looking forward to what they have to say and an x ray of the hip.

Now that I have had my new bedside desk for a few days, I can recommend it wholeheartedly

I’m finding our very unseasonable weather here in Northeast to be playing with my knee & thigh.
So annoying. But a little ice while I drink my coffee & read posts usually settles it.
If the knee situation continues I will go get it checked but I’m sure it’s just arthritis.

It's a joint replacement super power. Our joint picking up on atmospheric pressure changes that is,
Drops in barometric pressure, cold damp weather or storms moving in.
We're bionic meteorologists now. :egypdance: Hahaha.
Have a great day, ladies! Best wishes for your post op tomorrow, Pumpkin!
@Pumpkin

Absolutely agree about the low barometric pressure. Heat is my go to, thermal everything and a tens machine with a heat pad.

Long week, ended up in the ER on the 4th with what turned out to be the worst GERD I have ever had. I was coughing so much, almost threw up and could not breathe flaring my asthma. They did every test for blood clots, pneumonia, asthma, heart attack and more. Sent me home after a steroid shot, I have been following a strict GERD diet and am doing much better.
Saw my PA on June 5th, removed the wound dressing, healing great, no need for steri strips.
Still having mild hip spasms, staying on muscle relaxers until they settle.

Went to my first PT visit on Tuesday, said no a lot and set boundaries, actually felt better afterwords.

Today was a follow up with the urologist, everything is good, was discharged from their care. Worst part was Lyft kept sending SUV's that I cannot get into (I'm short), finally called a taxi, it was not much better. Thinking I am going to want to drive short distances as soon as I am off all opioids. Friends all have SUV's so cannot help with transportation.

Well happy your ER visit wasn’t anything too serious and you got some relief.
I remember not being able to get into any of my friends SUV’s in those early days. One of my oldest friends from high school wanted to take me to lunch and she has SUV so I told her to just drive my car!

What a nightmare you went through on the 4th, Pumpkin. I'm so sorry. Thankfully you were cleared of more serious possibilities and following the diet is helping. Whew!

I have every confidence you'll do well in PT, making strides toward your goal. Hopefully you'll be driving soon. Regaining our independence is a wonderful milestone. Many your weekend be a peaceful one! :SUNsmile:
@Pumpkin

Sorry you've had such a difficult week, @Pumpkin. Please take extra good care and let yourself recover.

I’m so sorry this has been so miserable for you. It’s just not fair!!! But at least it sounds like things are on a positive track. Hope your weekend is uneventful and calm. Hang in there.

Sorry to hear about the GERD, it must have been incredibly miserable. I'm glad to hear you have it under control! As for the SUV have you tried standing with you back to the seat and using the upper interior roof handle to pull yourself up? You use your good foot to step up backwards. It looks silly and is a bit clumsy at first but it is doable. It's how I have to get into our car. I was worried when I left hospital and asked how I could get in the car. They suggested it. I asked if they'd come and watch me get in to make sure I'd understood. They did and assured me it was a safe manoeuvre.

Thanks Deni444,
I think my ability to step up backwards is compromised by my very sore groin.
Still sore after getting into the giant SUV on Thursday. I ordered an aerobic step to help getting in and out of tall vehicles. Suspect it will take awhile to recover from the strained groin.

I have three appointments next week and am dreading getting to and from my appointments.
One of the appointments is because I am at risk for a detached retina and am going to a specialist. I do not want to miss that one, the other two are for PT, probably will cancel one.
:elevate:

@Pumpkin, are you having symptoms of a detached retina?

@Jamie
No, there is a place on my retina being pulled on by a membrane (I don't know the name of it), and my eye Dr wants it checked out sooner rather than waiting. I will be going to that appointment with the retinal specialist, who I will be continuing with for my Macular Degeneration. My vision is very good right now and I want to keep it that way for as long as possible.
In about a month I will be having a laser treatment for the blurriness since my cataract surgery. Both my Mother and MIL had this procedure for their eyes.
Keeping busy just juggling appointments right now.
