THR Groin pain turned the corner at 9 months

I can relate completely to what you’re experiencing. I had that pulling thing too. The doctor years ago told me I had “lattice membranes” and drew a picture of all these little spaghetti strands going from one side to another in my eye. What he didn’t tell me was that eventually they might pull the retina loose. It happened and thankfully I noticed a little spot where I had no vision. I was in surgery a couple of years ago so fast my head spun. But the retina specialist fixed it and my vision all came back just fine. He actually did some preventive layering on the other eye too to keep it from happening there.

I’m glad you’re watching this with a retina specialist. It can be very serious if not caught quickly. And, according to the doc, once there is that small blank spot, it means that fluid is leaking and the damage can quicken very fast.

I also had that laser surgery on both eyes after my cataract surgery. I know lots of folks who needed it. It’s an easy procedure that seems to always clear up the vision problems.

I know you’ll be glad to have all these appointments behind you.

Had to look up GERD as I didn’t know what it was. I presume you use Omeprazole or similar? I had a lot of issues with reflux when on chemotherapy and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I hope you find a way of getting to your eye appointment. I have to say I rushed getting back to driving in part because I am much happier getting in and out of our Audi Q3 (which is high but not too high) than the standard saloons I ended up in when I ordered a taxi to get to and from my physio last week.

Wishing you the best with your appointments this week...and ease in getting to and from.
Hope your Sunday is a good one, Pumpkin!

@Coddfish , I've also been taking a sodium alginate from the UK, Gaviscon Advance. I purchased it on Amazon.
It forms a little floating raft to prevent food going up your esophagus for a period of time.

@Jamie,
I remember when you went through the episode with your eyes, hopefully I will avoid that with early treatment. Actually looking forward to the laser treatment to clear up the blurriness I am having.

@Layla
Thank you for your encouraging words.

My hip is still sore from the SUV adventure, hoping the PT can help when I see him tomorrow. I also sent a quick FYI note to the surgeon, so they know what is going on.

Happy One Month Anniversary, Pumpkin!
Happy Saturday and Happy Summer too! :SUNsmile:
I hope you have a lovely, peaceful weekend after your appointments this week, hopefully all went well. :fingersx:
Take good care!
@Pumpkin

One month, I am doing much better, not perfect, but better. It has been a long slog the last month.

PT visits went well, gentle exercise, hip flexion is remarkable good, feels a little tight tying shoes but I can do it. Looking forward to being able to cross my right leg over my left knee.
I have started switching over to a cane from my walker, a little progress.

Ophthalmologist visit was OK, through testing, the Dr was abrupt, just like the reviews said. She seemed to feel like nothing was needed for the membrane that is pulling away at this time, just to keep and eye on it. Gave me some eye vitamins and an Amsler grid, I already have both so was a little redundant.
Was OK, but I would like to find a better fit for me.

Solved the Lyft/Uber problem with big SUV's, I message the driver that I only want compact cars. Has worked well so far.

There seem to be a lot of retina specialists in your area, so I’d look around if you don’t like the doctor you’re seeing. I was lucky enough to find not only an excellent surgeon for my eyes but he also takes time to explain everything and answer questions. He even gave me his home number to call him any time I had a concern. So I know there are good doctors out there.

I plan on asking the Dr who did my cataract surgery who he recommends for my macular degeneration, when I see him for my laser treatment in a few weeks.
I am definitely looking around, I do not want to settle.

You have my immense sympathies re the eyes as I have regular injections in one eye for BRVO every 8 weeks. My knee surgery has had to be scheduled after the next jab in order that I’m recovered enough to attend the one after. So eye jab 11 July, knees 14th. Ageing is not for the faint hearted. The eye department were fantastic in helping to sort it all out, let me have my review a little earlier which determined the injection intervals.
The compact car sounds like a good plan and I wish you well with it all.

Hope you're having a good week and finding it a bit easier each day to make the transition from walker to cane.
Have a great Thursday and weekend, Pumpkin! :SUNsmile:

Walking better this week, taking a few steps without any assistive device, balance seems good.
Over did it in PT, and irritated my groin on Tuesday with supine straight leg raises "only 5". Then Thursday morning I took the car out for a spin around the block. Oh, boy my hip is not ready for driving. I have a seat wedge but forgot to put it on the seat :groan:, won't forget the next time.

PT on Thursday refused all hip flexion exercises, did do everything else. I have not done any hip flexion exercises for about 10 years due to a torn labrum. Going forward the hip flexion exercises are going to have to wait until I am healed.

Ended up not being able to sleep last night due to groin pain, took a Norco this morning that seems to knock the pain down. Feeling like I am getting back to were I was on Monday before attempting leg flexion.

I ordered self standing quad cane tip replacement for my single point cane that seems to fall over here and there and everywhere.
I will report after I have tried it out for a few days.

Hoping to :sleeep: well tonight.

Man, those recovery ups and downs are the pits, aren’t they!! It does sound like you’re doing better, though. Sometimes the progress can seem so slow. And, it’s discouraging when you feel good and accidentally overdo things. But you’re listening to your body’s signals and that’s going to make a big difference in how things go for you. I’m looking forward to your next update!

I'm eager for your assessment of this quad-tip. I was just looking at them online. Prior to my surgery, I was using my old single point cane and it is SOOOOOO annoying when you think it's secure and if falls over! Don't want that happening when I graduate from the walker to the cane cause I won't be able to bend down to pick it up!

The quad tip stander is supposed to come today, getting the single point tip off the cane will be a challenge, it is held on tight.

Crash, bang, wallop... All day long. I know the feeling. By chance, I didn't know what I was buying. My walking stick has a larger than average bell shaped foot. It works like a dream because when it's on the ground, I can step on its edge gently and it will pivot, right back up. I hope your quad tip works out for you!

I ordered the wrong size quad cane tip, new one on order. The new tip should arrive on Wednesday.

Not sure what happened, but my groin pain has kept me up since 2am. I may have walked too much without device? Usually 10 ft or less here and there. I did miss taking a Tylenol, maybe need to go back to setting alarm for every 6 hrs. :alarm:

Ugh, I'm so sorry. You're having one of those days that are rather maddening just when things seem to be settling a bit. :console2: I hope some rest, ice and Tylenol bring speedy relief.
@Pumpkin

I remember a stage when I started to slip from taking my medication on time because I was feeling a lot better. Things got a little up and down but going back to a strict schedule for a bit longer helped. It's amazing too how easy it is to overdo it. I find it's always 24 later that I get the pain. We're all different in terms of what triggers a set back but doing something new or doing a bit more of a certain thing seems likely. I think walking without support is quite a big change. We probably underestimate how much help we get from a walking stick or crutches.

That groin pain makes me feel like first day I fell & fractured my hip. It was all,pain in my groin. That’s when I had no clue about the road I was about to travel. After consulting Doctor Google I had my hip & knees xrayed at local walk in clinic.
Ok. Nothing broken. Just bruised.
Wrong!
I hope some rest and ice and Tylenol will resolve the issue. Two steps forward & a couple of steps back is recovery road which you are very familiar with.
You got this.
