THR Groin pain turned the corner at 9 months

Great news on the PT!

Went to the ortho walk in clinic, and I do have a stable hairline fracture, no need to tape toes. I have to wear shoes with a rigid sole for 4 weeks.
My toe is pretty bruised from the impact, that will take time to heal.

After yesterday my right hip is more comfortable and I have more hip extension, looking forward to going back tomorrow.

That’s great news on both the hip and toe. Maybe we can hold off on the bubble wrap order for now. Take care of yourself. Having your hip feel better should make for better days ahead.

What a great idea….like steel-toed slippers!! :rotfl: I hope they help protect your tootsies. I would imagine stubbed toes is a bigger problem than people realize. So many people have neuropathy or gait issues that could allow those injuries to happen. I never knew such a thing existed.

Happy Three Month Anniversary!
Take a spin around the floor with hubs in your new ortho slippers slippers in celebration of three months!
Or bake a cake, or sip a little champs...you've earned something! :wink:
Have a great day!
@Pumpkin

Well it is not good. I feel like I have a sign on my back that says "Kick Me!"
I was happy with the Counterstrainer I was seeing, but we did some hip stretching Wednesday and now I can barely walk due to groin pain. I have found walking bent 90 degrees at the waist is a lot more comfortable.Plan to lay out flat on my back to counter this akward walking position. Driving is out, it will only flare my hip even more.

I have suspected since the early days that I have a hip impingement, now thinking that explains my challenging recovery. Time will tell.
My next PT appointment is Thursday, if my hip is not noticeably better by Tuesday I will cancel and have the PT give me a call back.

Oh no, I'm so sorry reading this @Pumpkin
Sometimes with this soft tissue stuff it's an unfortunate "one size doesn't fit all," and sometimes it may - as you suspect - point to a possible diagnosis.
I hope you're body is able to recover from this setback quickly.

Your current condition sounds miserable, Pumpkin. I am sorry you're in pain and dealing with this.
I do hope the groin pain eases with rest and whatever other measures you choose to try. Hugs :console2:
@Pumpkin

Pumpkin, this so horrible to hear. I’m so sorry for you having even more problems. Do you think it’s time to get back to the surgeon for another look?

This is sad to hear! I hope it calms down quickly for you and you can get back on a firmer recovery footing.

Do you think it’s time to get back to the surgeon for another look?
I have an appointment with the PA on September 23rd. If it does not improve I can go to their walk in clinic in the same building, or see if I can get in earlier.
I am waiting until Tuesday to see how I am doing, then will be making phone calls to cancel appointments and making new ones if needed.
Earlier today I rescheduled my Tuesday dental appointment, giving myself 2 weeks to feel better.

It sounds like you have things under control then. I’m just so sorry that what you’re trying is actually making things worse. I wish I had some suggestions for you, but I am baffled. This is one of those times I really wish Jo was still with us.

I looked at pre op and post op x rays and the angle the cup faces is not the same as my native hip. Suspect that has something to do with my groin pain.
It would be nice if Jo was still with us to help sort these things out.
As a work around I searched for Hip Impingement, then Member: Josephine and came up with quite a bit of helpful information, and some great graphics

That was a great idea for research. And it’s a good idea for me down the road when I am able to start working on revision of our library articles. Jo tended to put a lot of detailed information in her posts that never made it into an article. This would be a wonderful way to capture it.

Here is a diagram of the Illopsoas muscle that I think may be causing my groin pain.

Hang in there, Pumpkin. It's so unfortunate you're dealing with this three months out.
Glad you searched for some of Jo's information pertaining to your symptoms and found it useful.
I hope you and hubs have a relaxing holiday weekend with many stretches of peace and relief, Hugs :console2:
@Pumpkin

Woke up this morning in more pain. Went to the nearby free standing ER, was seen right away, they gave me toradol, a pain patch and a muscle relaxer.
Feeling a little better, but know this is not going away right away.

Will message the surgeons nurse practitioner when I get home, though don’t expect an answer until Tuesday.

Oh boy…:doh: Like you needed this on top of everything else. I’m so sorry, Pumpkin. At least you may get a little relief from the pain in the next couple of days. Of course it would happen on a weekend AND a major holiday. I hope you hear back from the surgeon’s office on Tuesday. They may have someone on call over the weekend if you wanted to try that.

I'm so sorry that the pain is getting worse. Glad you were able to get some meds to manage it until you can talk with your surgeon's office.
