Hi everyone,

Mel I have just been reading mags and a chick flick but I didn't have much concentration till yesterday!
Linda I manged to get a drug to stop the twitching :)
Physio have been this morning and I walked a bit further but they were unhappy with my bend it's about 20 and I can't go home till it's 90 :( so she has asked me to do my exercises every hour and push it as much as possible so I'm off to do as I'm told!
Xxx

Glad you got the twitching to stop. Now work that leg!!!

Hope that you get released soon so you can go home.

((hugs))
Linda.

I have been in a lovely room on a lovely ward since I came out of HDU and now I am being moved to a mixed ward where my hubby cannot visit as much I totally understand why they have to move me but I have just got used to being here!
I feel very funny today sickly and dizzy :( I'm still working my knee though x

Hey Nat,

sorry you're feeling funny - probably all the drugs. I had to periodically get a anti-nausea med, depending on the day, when I was in the hospital...

glad you are working that leg girl - each session is one closer to getting home!!!

xoxoxox,
Linda.

It certainly is :) I had an anti sickness tablet which helped but I'm still dizzy but if I'm honest the food isn't too good so ai haven't ate much xx

Hi Natalie! Hang in there! By any chance are you on blood thinners? They made me so dizzy and sick feeling and it took me weeks to realise they were the problem. Could also be all the drugs. But you might ask.

Glad you could get some reading done - even just chick mags. For some reason I couldn't concentrate on anything too heavy in the hospital. What was reallly weird is I kept watching all those Nanny 911 and Super Nanny programs. Must have been the drugs as they are certainly not quality television!

Keep on doing those exercises. You'll be home before you know it!

Yes I am Jaycey I'm having them every evening It could well be that?I will see if I feel any better once I get home and I'm sleeping and eating better.
I have had the tv on but not watched it really I've had been moved to a different ward now and there is no tv so I'm going to just concentrate on my exercises I've managed to push it a bit further but I can't lift it yet.
Xxx

Natalie, be sure you are getting as much sleep as possible too. Catnap as much as you can. Maybe hubby can bring you some decent food in!! How about some yummy milkshakes!!!

Too bad about not having a tv. Even though you don't watch it carefully, it can serve as a distraction sometimes. I think the idea of having hubby bring in a milkshake or something sounds wonderful.

Yes, it also helps those hubbies feel like they are helping too. Men like to feel like they are taking care of their brides....

That's a fab idea but unfortunately hubby can't get here again till Wednesday now and neither can anyone else,we thought I'd have been home tomoz so we haven't planned for him to get here after that so fingers crossed the food is a bit better tomorrow!

Milkshakes are a great idea for when I get home as food doesn't seem very appealing at the moment!

I haven't slept all day everytime I tried a nurse or physio or porter or cleaner woke me!!
Everything has gone quiet now so I'm going to catch up on some sleep now,you have all been so wonderful xxxxx Thankuou xxxx

Oooh - only 20 degrees! You poor thing. I bet it's swollen plenty, yes? Are you able to elevate it? They really should give you some ice as well. I can't believe the Wrightington doesn't use ice!

It's really really swollen Jo and again I asked the physio for ice and she said I didn't need it as the anti inflammatory will be reducing the swelling!
I have been using a board with a bandage under my heel and a towel wrapped around my foot and dragging it towards me and I got about 25 degrees I'm praying it gets better over night.
Mel I haven't had any sleep yet :(

Nat, You sound like you are doing a little better. I updated Martha and Graham on the SC forum -- they didn't realize you were able to get in for the surgery. I told them about Bonesmart. I couldn't eat much when I was in the hospital, and I'm still having trouble. Nothing seems very appealing or tastes all that good. Maybe it's the meds.

I'm thinking about you all the time. I'm so happy you will be rid of the SC and arthritis pain forever. Keep that in mind during the tough times in your healing process. This time after you heal, you won't have to worry about the SC coming back. We are fortunate to live in a time when joints can be replaced (and that our SC was in the more commonly replaced joints).

Try to rest. I know it's hard with all of the interruptions, but any bit you can get will help.

Hey Nat!!!
You stinker! Snuck in there after all. I'm so pleased you got it done. Now onward and upward. Nat you are doing fine. My ROM wasn't any better than yours at that stage also. My first trip to PT after I left the hospital was only 45 degrees. Normal I'm told was to be 90. But then again who said we were ever normal!? It will come as the swelling goes down. You have more swelling because of your SC knee and it will just take a little longer. I was so dizzy too the first month until I got off those darn meds. I had to have a chair by my side during my PT for weeks because I'd get so weak. I'd do one little exercise and then I'd have to sit. So you are doing fine and it will come. Be forwarned also due to the drugs you just might get a little depressed. It's natural. You'll just start crying for no reason ( like getting your leg chopped up isn't reason enough) but it will pass. I would have days I just couldn't talk to anyone without breaking down. Again those meds will play havoc with you. ALL NORMAL!

I'm dying to know what the doctor saw in there. Did he see signs of SC? Severe arthritis? Give me the gory details!

Well have a good night's sleep. Tomorrow's a new day and with any luck you'll get a cute PT!
Martha

Martha.....welcome to the forum....although it seems as though you know Natalie already. So maybe you've been a "lurker"???? Anyway, I'm glad you officially joined our membership and started to chat.

So are you in Great Britain or the USA????

Hi Natalie! Are you feeling any better today? Did you manage to get any sleep?

Sending you a big cyber (((hug)))! I sure hope you are getting that pain under control!

Take care!
