Otherwise I'm doing ok and I have a new knee :) xxxx

Re: Op cancelled

Whooooo hoooo! Don't worry....they'll get that pain under control. Just keep letting them know when the meds aren't getting the job done.

Re: Op cancelled

I hope the pain is soon under control. I am sending healing thoughts and prayers your way.

Re: Op cancelled

So it's been a real tough day and night I didn't get any sleep and still haven't had any sleep.

I'm on a PCA pump and have a nerve block after the epidural failed :(
So with the above all in I'm still not on top of the pain my knee is heavy and feels like it's being ripped apart :(

Re: Op cancelled

Aw Natalie, I hope you are getting on a bit better today. You have been in my thoughts. Take care. Things will get better! We are all cheering you on. (((hugs))).

Re: Op cancelled

What a victory those three steps must have been! I hope the pain is soon much better.

Re: Op cancelled

Hang in there, Natalie!!! It will improve. Keep communicating to the nursing staff and doctors when you have pain. They really should be able to get it under control. Ask for LOTS of ice on your knee.

Re: Op cancelled

Natalie....It's done??? First time I have checked in for a couple of days. Awesome. Hope they have your pain under control...communicate girl. What a blessing..all done!:shk:

Re: Op cancelled

They won't give me ice:( they say they don't do that?!the pca and nerve block have gone so I am taking what I was pre op along with Diflofenac and I am finding the oramorph wears off after every hour and I can only take it every 2 :(
I have discussed this with them just to be told it's normal, pain team worked so hard to get me a nerve block but it only stayed in 12 hours!

All my drains have been removed and the site where try came dro
Has bled a lot I'm on third lot of bedding!

Re: Op cancelled

I'm right there w/ ya on the whole pain thing - really sucks. Hope you feel better soon,
xoxox,
Linda.

Re: Op cancelled

Nat...have you ever hear the phrase "the squeaky wheel gets oiled"? Basically keep complaining until the pain team is forced to rethink your meds.

They don't use ICE!!!! What the heck...

I am also concerned about you drain site bleeding so much.

Sounds like either you or your hubby needs to talk to the head nurse...neither of these problems would be acceptable to me.

Re: Op cancelled

@Josephine:
I have tagged Jo to comment on your situation, Natalie. Since she is in Great Britain, I thought she might have a better idea of what to do. I DO think something should be done, though. You need ice! You need pain management. And all that bleeding seems a bit odd to me.

Ask to speak to your surgeon and also to the nursing supervisor. Keep asking and pushing until you are satisfied with the answers.

Re: Op cancelled

Some hospitals don't use ice, that's true. But I really never thought the Wrightington would be one of them!

That leaking drain hole is a worry but at least you're in hospital still (aren't you?). It will settle in time. It's quite possible the drain needle punctured a small blood vessel which was blocked by the drain and now it's out, the vessel can bleed. Or that there is a collection of blood in the wound which is leaking out. It's much better than it being contained in the wound and creating a haematoma.

As for the pain management - I think we mentioned that before, that you're in a Catch 22 situation.

Re: Op cancelled

Jo, I couldn't find any comments from you on the pain issue in this thread of Natalie's. Is there someone special she can talk to? It doesn't seem right to me that she is in so much pain.
