Hi all can't believe it's nearly 12 weeks since my TKR,although the first few weeks a bit of a blur. Had a bit of a disaster the other day, tripped over my sons dog and slid down the stairs,my back is very sore and stiff need to see my osteopath but knees seem O.K thank goodness, could have been a lot worse.I can now come down stairs normally when not falling!I can at last, say I'm pleased I had it done it's all getting a bit easier and although I still get a bit of pain sometimes it's nothing compared to grinding bone on bone pain before the op hope this will help others to know that it does get better.Well we are of this morning to join our son and family in West Sussex where they have rented a house on the beach, speak again soon Terri

Have a wonderful time Terri, enjoy walks on the beach and I hope that your unoperated knee doesn't play up too much.

Not sure if you can pick this up Terri, but really hope you are enjoying your break and your poor back is not playing up too much.
For some reason I didn't get an alert for your thread so didn't pick up on the fact that you were going away.
Have a great time and take care
X

Hi @dogwheels just read your thread it all seems very positive except the slow bit We all want our lives back but it will come trust me.Enjoying our break the weather was lovely yesterday and we went on the beach in West Wittering my grandson and his dog had the best time,we then went to Chichester Marina We kept a boat there years ago so a trip down memory lane, the back is very stiff bent up like an old lady so will see my osteopath next week to sort me out,my knee does not like walking in sand,or stairs in marina shops! Do hope you can get away for Easter it will do you good, have a great day Terri

Hi Terri - glad you are having a good time, but sorry that the back is hurting. Its lovely down there - The Witterings beaches are super, and I like the shops in Chichester. We used to go to Itchenor quite frequently as a neighbour used to have his boat serviced there, so he and husband would sail it down, while friend's wife and I came by road and picked them up (after having afternoon tea!)
Take care and have fun.
X

Just found my thread I don't go on here much as I don' think many people read it, maybe I'll change the title!
I am now on week 14 and new knee is doing well I feel very lucky compared to some,I drive walk as much as the other knee and back will allow, and at last feel the benefits of a new strong knee.I know I still have a way to go but so glad I had it done.We start are journey to Greece on the3rd and look forward to the sun the sea and of course that Greek wine.(yamas) won't be taking my bike not up to that, but there will be other years, thinking of you all have a good evening

Hi Terri - bet you cant wait to head off to Greece ..... not long now. I would give my other leg (or on second thoughts the operated one!) to be back in Abu Dhabi - sun, sea and sand (rather a lot of it actually). Mind you it will be starting to get hot there, so perhaps I will stick with Surbiton for the time being, even though it is rather damp and dismal this afternoon. As I am banned from walking too much I have had to subject myself to afternoon TV - I keep tuning in to 'A Place in the Sun' if my husband is around. I have dropped that many heavyweight hints, but he's not listening ......... yet.
I am so glad that the TKR has been such a success - you have done so well. Hope the other knee and your back do not give you any trouble - but I am sure that lovely warm Greek weather (and the Greek wine) will ease them considerably.
Don't forget if you can get Wifi to send us some piccies.
Not making any plans at present, as I know this setback has meant I have 'lost' 6 weeks. I just have to get a bit of confidence back in my knee that history will not repeat itself. I will sun myself (hopefully) on the balcony down at the coast, or if that fails hit the fake tan bottle big-time. Fingers X'd we are hoping to go away in the Autumn - not sure where yet - the knee will decide!
Take care
ChrisX

Nice to hear from you Chris and so pleased that you continue to improve, although I know you must get fed up with it all.I bet you can't wait to get your hair done always a lift, used to be my job so I should know.It will be nice for you to go to your other house a change of scene is good.I will post on our travels will be going through Germany and on to Ancona Italy to get the ferry to Greece,we are taking a few weeks to get to Italy so can take our time, freezer will be packed with ice for knees and back, lots of pillows and plenty of painkillers so well prepared.Great that you can drive again it makes you feel so much more independent.take care and have a pleasant evening Terri x

Hi Terri @YiaYia, it's wonderful to hear from you. How exciting, getting ready to go away, I'm really pleased for you. I can't ride my bike yet, I was hoping to be able to do that by now, but we'll get there eventually.
I still can't make any plans for our trip to France as my left knee has completely given up and walking is agony at the moment. I have an appointment on Monday with the OS, hopefully he will have a plan which will enable me still to go - I will have to wait and see. We did take the caravan down to Kent for Easter, that was fun, but it was hard work for my husband as I was useless and couldn't help at all. I usually look after the water and electricity while he pitches and puts up the awning, but poor man had to do it all himself - so no change there then!
The journey to Greece sounds quite an adventure in itself, it's somewhere I've never been. We both love France and have been going there for years, there aren't many areas we haven't been to now. We keep, saying we need to explore somewhere different, but then I get cold feet, I can speak French, but no other language, and I worry about not being able to communicate.
Hopefully we'll be able to say "Bon voyage" before you go. Have a good week packing everything, take care, xx Lyn

Hi @Ellejay so sorry about your other knee what a pain, hope your O.S can sort it out and you can go to France a bit of sunshine will do you good.We love Greece used to have a boat there and went every summer.I do speak a bit of Greek hence YiaYia is Greek for Grandma, my grandsons found it very easy to say when they were young and it stuck so I'm always called YiaYia.We will take the journey very slowly as my back gets very stiff, a couple of hours is enough but that's fine no hurry.I do hope things get sorted for you, like me you need a bit of rest and relaxation before the next T.K.R Take care let us know how you get on Terri x

Hi all, hope things are going well for you and the new knees are behaving. Have just returned from road trip to Greece was great but a very long way new knee behaved very well, but back and other knee a different story, lots of hours driving but many amazing places we did 7 countries.Nana moon have been reading your thread you have been through so much it's just not fair, sending healing thoughts

Hi Terri - you are back!!

Lovely to see your post pop up in my alerts. Amazing that it did, as the alert fairy hates me and normally doesn't tell me!

What a wonderful trip you must have had. Sorry to hear that your other knee and back have been playing up though. Are you on schedule for the other one to be done in the not too distant future? @Jozilla is gearing up ready for number 2, and @Ellejay is due an arthroscopy to buy her a bit more time once she is back from her trip.

As you will see from Nana Moons thread, we are still around - and a few more have joined the merry ranks of Nana's Coffee Stop.

After todays weather, I expect you wish you had stayed in Greece.

Anyway - good to hear from you.

Congratulations to you both @yiayia3 and @Jozilla - I think I am destined to just be grandmother to furry pets!

Lovely photos Terri, what a great trip. We rented a campervan on one trip to Oz - the freedom of just parking up on a beach and stopping wherever took our fancy was brilliant. My husband didn't like my style of driving it too much though .

Sorry about your hip and knee - but you look so good from your time away! Bet you would like a bit of that Greek sunshine today - drizzling all morning here ...

Photos are great. How did you like Venice? I have heard mixed reviews so not sure if I would like it. @dogwheels my daughter was 34 when she had her first child and my son will be 36. It seems the majority of our children are waiting till their mid 30's and concentrating on careers first. My daughters minpin was her baby for years. If we went away and returned without a small gift for her she would be insulted. I have to say having a son has done wonders! Xoxo
