Hi everyone 8 weeks and knee doing well can do so much more now and it feel so much better than my right.Just been to my G.P I have seborrhic dermatitis and its flared up all round my eyes he said its the stress of having the tkr then took my b.p mega high as always when I go to docs, so have to take it at home for a week then go back, was the same when I had my pre op but fine in hospital must try not to worry as will make it worse but always something oh well that's my moan for today off now for last physio. Have a good day all

Oh poor old you Terri - as if the TKR wasn't enough! It's amazing what the trauma of major surgery can bring on ..... ask Nana Moon.
Hope your last physio goes well. Take care, try and keep calm and think lovely thoughts!!!!

Hi @yiayia3 - I'm fine. Currently my lower back and hamstring are more of a nuisance than the knee. But my movements are now reaching and using bits that haven't been used in years, so to be expected.
I'm still going to physio, in fact I am off there this afternoon. No doubt she will find another exciting and excruciating exercise to increase the bend in my knee! What is it with physios and exercise bikes? She gets a gleam in her eye and moves it another notch forward every time - last week my knees were almost up to my chin. She was actually nice last week, but looking back I think that may have been a bit of psychology in pepping me up ready for the OS check. I expect she will be wielding the whip again this afternoon - no more Mr Nice Guy!
We have decided (OS;PT and me) that 120 degrees is the goal - given the state of my knee pre-surgery. OS says things will still be improving, so to continue aiming for that. Therefore, I'll do weekly PT for a while yet and see what happens. Given that there is a lot of stretching of under used and tight muscles needed (ouch) I'll persevere for a while longer and see if I can get near to the target. No work is needed on extension, and strength is pretty good, its just getting the **!!?? thing to bend a bit more.
I bet you are pleased to give up the PT. I wish .............
Its been foggy here this morning. Glad your skin is beginning to clear up and your BP is down.
Take care and have a lovely day whatever you end up doing.

Hi @yiayia3, poor you, dermatitis to cope with as well, it's just not fair. I hope it gets sorted very quickly. I know you are relieved to be ending you PT, but in a way I'm envious that you have been continuing for so long. I just had those 4 group sessions between weeks two and six and that was that. I was really pleased I paid for a private session last week, she gave me so many things to work on that would improve my knee, and I'm off to see her this afternoon for my first hydrotherapy session. It's expensive (£50 for half an hour) but hopefully will be worthwhile. I've been to the gym this morning, worked on all of the machines, used the recumbent bike which is so much easier than my exercise bike, and for the first time used the treadmill as well, so I should sleep well tonight. Hope all goes well for you today, xx

Gosh @Ellejay - what a busy girl! You will sleep for England tonight I reckon. Well done you. I have physio this afternoon (groan).
Just wanted to mention to you and @yiayia3 - I cant remember if it was the pair of you that said coming down stairs properly was difficult/you did not do. (If you are already trotting downstairs normally, I apologise). I have to do it as part of my physio, but sometimes, like first thing in the morning I'm a bit stiff and don't feel up to it. Somebody on this forum suggested to dogloverx3 to walk downstairs properly, but backwards. I remembered it this morning when I first got up and it is so much easier than coming down facing forwards. Probably mind over matter - but it really does make a heap of difference. Perhaps someone who reads this will find it helpful.
Talk later

@dogwheels, no, I'm still not coming down stairs properly, going up is no problem, and I can manage down in some places, I think our stairs at home have quite high treads to them. Thank you for the tip, I will give it a try.
Good luck with PT, chat later, xx

Hi @Ellejay nice to hear from you skin feels better this morning it always breaks out if I'm a bit stressed and was terrible just before l went in hospital, I just hate it because its on my face. You are doing great I was doing much the same as you do at the gym at physio.I had 10 physio appointments but paid for the 4 group sessions. It a lovely day now going out soon for a nice walk in the sunshine have a great hydro session

Hi@dogwheels I still find it hard coming down stairs it pulls the back of my knee the physio said its always one of the last things to get back, will give it a try coming down backwards just like a boat!

Hi @yiayia3 - thanks for all your lovely posts. Didnt want to sidetrack on NM27's thread - but I am SO jealous that you are going down to Gunwharf. I assume that you will have some time to do some shopping down there too??
My daughter and I were only talking about going there or having a trip to Bicester, just last week. We had decided that Gunwharf is more fun and affordable, but I wont be going there for a while yet, as I'm back to being really uncomfortable sitting in the car again  Never mind it will just have to go on the 'to do' list.
Hope you get a better night tonight.

Hi if anyone reads this 10 weeks tomorrow and I think I'm doing 0.K no more Physio just doing stretches and bike also walk most days,my new knee is so much stronger than the right and already less painful, still not coming downstairs properly but don't want to rock the boat,I will have to have my left knee done and as time goes by I feel I can face it,I have learned so much from this forum long may it continue.Have a good day everyone

Hi @yiayia3 what a lovely positive post and update. It's lovely to hear that you are starting to get towards normal x x x x I have to see my GP in the morning as my sick note runs out soon x x. X

Thanks @Nana moon 27 hope all goes well at docs lets us know,it's my grandson's birthday today he is 6 will ring him in minute I expect he's been up since dawn speak later Terri

Hi Terri yes I'll let you now. I've woken up in pain this morning. Bit fed up and down. I'm ok though. Nothing I can handle. Its what pain does isn't it.

I've just posted on Karringtyn's thread to someone who was claiming that people who recover slowly don't write. I've just very politely put her right about that one!

I really hope that your little grandson has a lovely birthday. Six is a lovely age. I love listening to how they make sense of the world around them and their little friendships at school. It's lovely! My youngest grand daughter is seven but gosh she doesn't miss a trick. She talks about all her friends to me so I know quite a lot about her life. Well, it got very funny but also a bit sad the one day. Her mom said to me "oh, one of Keira's friends is coming today after school for tea!" I said "ooh that's nice, which one is it?" She named the child and without thinking I rolled my eyes and said "God help you!" . She said "what do you mean mom?" I replied "you'll see!" Needless to say she rings me up later and tells me "oh mom, now I know why you rolled your eyes. She was a super brat that knew too much too young." She evidently told my granddaughter all about her mom and dad's divorce and why they divorced. All the gory details of how her dad had caught her mom in bed with another bloke etc. She was telling all this to my granddaughter, who's eyes were out on stalks, my daughter clocked on to the end of the conversation too late because she was cooking their dinner and walked in on it. After the little girl had gone home my grand daughter told her mom all the rest! My daughter said that this child was awful. I said to my daughter that was it really surprising the child was like she was with all that kind of personal information to deal with at that age. As far I was concerned that child should have been shielded from all the gory details and my granddaughter shouldn't have been exposed to this kind of very adult conversation. There was no need for herthis little girl know all that. She was emotionally much too young to deal with all this. My daughter agreed that I was right.

Some of these poor kids have terrible lives don't they?

Love Nana moon 27 xox
