Weezi Happy Anniversary! 22 years! My, you look too young to be married that long. I'm glad you're having fun with the limericks. I'm from the North, but I knew zauberflöte was a rebel and I believe this limerick just may be, sort of, for her. Heehee. Weezi, why don't you start another? Or whoever's out there reading this.

Hi zauberflöte Southern Belle, how's the weather down yonder? We're still cold up here - Connecticut. It's been 30-40 degrees. We're having a long winter this year.

@Littlegem - how're you doing? Is this your thread we've sabatoged with our silliness? You're already 1 week post op. Congratulations! Are you getting around ok? Do you use a stick or an elbow crutch or a frame? (those are all words I learned from clifford149 :SUNsmile: )
 
Hi ByGosh I'm quite happy to have my thread 'sabotaged',, we're having fun yes!!:heehee:
I'm really doing well, not been out yet but and I'm using a stick for the stairs but I'm getting around the house mostly aid free. Leg is a bit swollen but generally quite pain free thank goodness:)
 
Littlejem whose thread is Limerick Central-- that is FABulous that you only need the stick (see/ I can do it too!) for those stairs that your hubby was so nervous about. And generally pain free- Go you!!!!
ByGosh well.... it's snowing and icing at the moment. WE don't get many spring storms around here, and some places have quite an accumulation. We drove home in the huge-wet-flake variety this evening. I think we have ice on the deck now, blarg. My mom and sister live in upstate New York-- they've had a long winter too! I don't envy you. I went to school in Montreal-- now there was some snow!
I don't like stout. Fix it. :rotfl: :rotfl:

zauberflöte of course you can do it, you seem like a very positive kind of person anyway and I'm sure that helps. I was so not positive before my op, I heard myself saying the right things, most of the time, but I was struggling to actually believe them. I think this forum definitely helped me but unfortunately I'm one of those people who needs to see it before I can believe it. Anyway it's all true and I for one feel soooo much better and would have no hesitation to go back for the other one to be done :) Now if we could just have some :SUNsmile: I could enjoy the rest of my sick leave!! Thanks friend xx :friends:

Littlejem - Congrats on your good recovery. Getting around with only the "stick", and hardly any pain...that's the way to do it. So glad you're on the mend.
Now tell me, are you 6 hours ahead of us here on the East Coast? Must be, as the sun rises there sooner, right? Goodness, I'm a tad lame in more than my hips!:loll:

Anyhow, there's another limerick, I think it's on my thread about a PT from Mars. I figure they deserve a limerick of their own. Let's see what we can do with that one.
 
ByGosh I think I have been very lucky with my recovery so far, my friend, who has had both of her hips done, came to see me today and she was amazed at how well I was doing. My worry now is 'will I slide back', mind I worry about everything and if I don't, I worry I've forgotten something I should be worried about!!
Yes we are 6 hours ahead of you, I was in New York for my Birthday in December which is why I remember.
 
Littlejem My I have missed all the fun .Just read how well you are doing well walking with only 1 stick and hardly any pain and I am sure I read you had emptied the dishwasher Wow I am still leaving those tasks to hubby.I did make myself a slice of toast and a cup of coffee this morning and thought I was doing well.what are you taking for pain ?
 
Hi Kim22 - try not to judge your recovery by what others are managing to do. (Also, I find things like emptying the dishwasher is an easy one to delegate!) It took me weeks before I could manage the simplest thing with any ease as my body was telling me no.

Kim22 , Firebrand is right we all recover at different rates, this is how I'm recovering and I'm doing what helps me. I'm taking Naproxen anti inflammatory and Tramacet, which is a mix of Tramadol and Paracetamol. I was taking this before my operation to get me through the day when I found I couldn't take straight Tramadol because I couldn't work while taking them.
 
@littlegem I an not surprised that you couldn't work on Tramadol my head feels like cotton wool on them I can hardly concentrate on watching TV. I haven't heard of Tramacet but sounds better. I am also on Naproxen but hoping to get off them very soon as the inflammation subsides however I have wear and tear of the right knee so in reality it probably won't happen.So glad you are doing so well.I am getting muscle soreness in both legs and my hands are sore with using the sticks Still things can only get better
 
Firebrand Thanks for the reminder that we're all different and our recoveries are all going to be different, too. It's natural to compare to others, though. If I do, I feel bad because I have my own little set of problems and pain here, and I think everyone else is doing better than I am. :boohoo: But I'm getting around, walking and talking, no fever, no infection, didn't dislocate, nothing serious I don't think, so.....that's my recovery.

Littlejem I hear you about the worrying, though! I imagine all kinds of things are going on with my hips. Every pain is a new problem, etc. I need to stay positive or I'll drive myself crazy. :yikes:
 
ByGosh you are an absolute star in coping with what you have to get through and I think you are doing really well. Lets face it, you have double everything to contend with and oh boy it's got to get you down sometimes or you wouldn't be normal. xx
 
Littlejem and Kim you are both doing great. All I can say is milk any help you get, as soon as you look like you're ok... BAM... the hubby and kids just go back to routine. Get the attention. ... you deserve it. And stay off roofs... hee hee
