Thanks for the info. Well at least the PT seems sensible. I hope you start getting some results over the next couple of weeks.

@kneeper

She is a sensible sort, won't do anything to the point of pain...

I had physio again this morning, we don't do anything there that "hurts" the knee but a couple of hours afterwards, then I know I've had physio, lol! The knee gives way and when it does that there is sharp pain involved...its a mystery to me and everyone else too it seems.

Going into the 6th week of physio...the knee is not giving way on me as much but the pain is still there. The PT thinks it could be scar tissue either wrapped around a nerve or pinned in the prosthesis. Have an appointment with the OS on the 18th, wonder what he will have to say about this?

Now it seems I have plantar fasciitis in my right foot...never a dull moment!

I always go back to the thought, I had the pkr, its not working what happens if I need a revision and that fails too, what then? (Yes, I know I have too much time to think)..

I had a partial in 2000. It was the right thing for me at that time. It lasted me 11 years, during which time I really lived a normal life and sometimes almost forgot I had it.

I had a revision to a Total (TKR) in December 2011. That went well, too, and I have full confidence in my new knee.

Of course, I was worried before the revision, but all went well.

I have found this and wondering what opinion you have on it....sounds so much like what I have. (I am not saying it is, seems I am sorta grasping at straws to get to the bottom of this knee pain).
Bearing in mind that the article is 7 years old, it's entirely possible. However on a cohort of only two cases it's not very much to go on. I'd say it's not too common but on the other hand, always worth checking out. I'd print off the article and take it to the surgeon.

@Celle I have put all that out of my mind for the moment until there is something more definite said about a revision or otherwise. I am hoping its a long time off yet, I don't have time for any knee surgery of any kind at the moment...:heehee:!..and thank you for commenting, appreciate it.

@Josephine Thank you for your comment and advice, I am printing this article off for the surgeon, I have an appointment with him on Friday. The eight weeks of physio will be completed tomorrow.

Ok Jo, you called it when I had that explosion of pain a few months ago...the implant has come loose, I need a revision or a total....that call will be made when I go have the surgery. I don't want to go have the surgery, I am at home with my two kids while my husband is in the US seeking treatment for his back, he cannot become a resident of this country until he has something done. So much is up in the air at the moment, I am not ready to have it done just yet...any advice from anyone who has been in this boat will be appreciated (the revision boat that is)...!
I hate being a failed pkr statistic :heehee:

@JustmeT ,

I am sorry to hear that your PKR is loosening!:console2:

Not what anyone wants to hear; and the replacements never seem to "fail" at a good time, huh?:good-bad:

It's like they know when to kick us! Seriously though, you are a strong woman who will be fine when it comes to getting a total knee replacement! I realize you have two children, and your husband in in the US having back surgery right now though. This is a lot for you to process!

Break "the elephant in the room" or problem, into baby elephants and categorize:

1. Do you have anyone besides your husband who can take care of the children when you are in the hospital?

2. Does the doctor say the surgery should happen immediately, or can you take meds for pain?

3. How long is the recovery expected to take for your hubby? Is he staying in the US during recovery?

4. What are you doing to be kind to yourself and your stress levels? Watching funny movies, sitcoms, reading light hearted books, talking on the phone or visiting with friends, all very helpful!:angel:

Keep in touch Just! I'm in your corner!:happydance: p.s. Anytime you need a laugh, you know you can find me! "Just", let me know!

I don't wanna stay in the hospital but yes I do if it comes down to it, I have someone to be with the kids.

2. Does the doctor say the surgery should happen immediately, or can you take meds for pain?
He suggested 2-4 weeks but said as long as I don't be attempting anything silly and demanding on the knee I can wait for a while yet, so its back to see him in January for a reassessment if it doesn't get intolerable before then. I cannot take pain meds so didn't even think of asking for any.

3. How long is the recovery expected to take for your hubby? Is he staying in the US during recovery?
Hubby is still waiting to see the specialist, his appointment was rescheduled until the 1st week in September. Depending on what he has to have done, we think he will be staying in the US.

I am celebrating my b-day today with family and friends...its been a stress free day. After today, I don't know, I am not one to stress for long periods of time but with my husband away I am stressing about things much more...yep I watch movies, I paint, I write and I read. The Big Bang Theory and Friends are my go to stress relievers. I talk with my husband 3-4 times a day and I keep busy...only thing is now I have to slow all the busy stuff down, no more walking on the beach, no more hiking or biking, no long walks until after the knee is revised...

@JustmeT ,

Don't worry about all the "stuff" you can't do right now. Think about all of the wonderful "stuff" you will be able to do after the revision! Remember. I had a long road, but now I am enjoying the "best of my life with this knee!" The foot is getting better and I will get to rid myself of the boot Sept. 4th :yahoo:

You are an amazing woman and you will be fine!

Tessa, I'm so sorry about the loosening. Your situation with the kids and hurt husband is certainly complicating. Having had a partial in March, you situation sends chills up my spine. I hope there is something you can take for pain. Please don't wait too long to get the permanent relief you deserve.

I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday. And send you good wishes that you can have your knee revised and return to an active life.
Some one is always here, come and vent when ever you need to.

You know that I look to you for inspiration Sonja...the challenges you have faced and the way you are now getting on with it, its, why its, totally awesome! I know I will get through this if for no other reason than I have to.

I am having a struggle at the moment with myself as to whether to get this done sooner rather than later. Sooner means hubby has to get back to Canada asap and forgo all that he has to do and what he has accomplished there thus far will be for naught! Or wait until next year with this "thing" getting worse (I have no doubt that it has too?). I am trying to not over think/analyze this just take it a day at a time...so far that is not working, the brain refuses to listen.

Thank you Christie, its a situation that isn't ideal for sure but one that I will get through. I had a partial replacement in my other knee 5 1/2 months after this one and its fine, don't even feel it anymore. It really does feel like my real knee at this point. The left one was giving me trouble right from the beginning so its always been the problem child! :oyvey:

@Pumpkln Thank you for the b-day greeting :) ! I hope you are right that I can get back to the active lifestyle that I love, this slowing down bit has never been easy for me but I am forced once again to endure it :gaah:!
