@Pumpkln Mmmmmm, I wonder with a knee brace will I be able to go mountain biking again? ...I kid! I am going to call my OS when (not if because I know this won't heal on its own right? ;) this gets a bit more painful than it is, to broach the subject of a brace for it.

Yep, so much going on at the moment and my baby is starting school on Wednesday, its a very big day for him. He is looking forward to kindergarten as much as I am not looking forward to him going, :heehee:! My daughter is going into grade 5, she is a busy one. She is a cross country runner, plays guitar and takes square dancing lessons plus soccer and anything else she can fit in there. So much like me, loves being busy (loves the down time too if its not for too long of a stretch, again, like me,:) ). I am wondering if my son will follow suit?

So that's the era of the old saying, "No Pain No Gain" wondering where it originated from...lol the disco post hippie era! Work Smarter Not Harder sounds about right for the time we are living in now, I wonder if in the next decade if there will be an app for this where you can watch someone else do the hard part and you get the benefit?...:groan:I know that was a sad attempt on my part, hahahahaha!

So that's the era of the old saying, "No Pain No Gain" wondering where it originated from
It originated from one Jane Fonda - she of the hectic workout videos. I've yet to meet an orthopaedic surgeon who doesn't want to wash his mouth out with soap if he mentions her name! We had a veritable flood of all kinds of injuries, inflammatory conditions and such after her idiotic claim which was based on NO medical evidence whatsoever!
I don't want to lose what I have done...
What ever makes you think that will be the case? Give yourself a rest, girl, and let your body - as well as your knee - have some time off!

I so don't want to gain back the weight I have taken off and I still have a ways to go yet before I am down to the weight I think will be acceptable for me. I can't rest, I don't know how and that's the truth, I have always been on the go even when I am home I usually only stop long enough to say I am stopped and to sleep. My quads are so much stronger now than they were the last time around and I want to keep it that way. Besides all that when I slow down I think too much, that's never a good thing!

A question for all y'all...Why is a recliner so good during recovery from knee replacement surgery?

See I am learning, working smarter not harder and I can maintain all I have done without pain...lol!

@JustmeT ,

You won't gain back the weight you have taken off as long as you eat sensibly. For the record a balanced diet is not a coke in one hand and a candy bar in the other!:rotfl: Seriously though, eat a healthy diet do minimal exercises that will not cause pain as discussed before, and you will be ok! :friends:

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Its a good thing I like neither then...I cannot imagine having those two together...ewwww! My biggest downfall was eating at night, about 10pm my husband would get a big ole feed on. I would say no I didn't want any but then it always smelled sooooooo good, I, of course, would indulge. It became a nasty habit, one that I am breaking regularly...just have to keep reminding myself to not eat at night.

My 5 year is off to school, he reassured me that he will not have time to miss me...I am so pleased he said that, even though its what you want to hear its not what you are feeling...I am sure gonna miss my little buddy today!!!:cry:

Well you are one up on me then!

When I used to get stressed teaching 7th graders, at the end of the day, everyone knew I was going to be heading to the snack machine for 4 packs of Reese's and 1 regular coke! LOL. Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end....:rotfl::cry:

You sound like Freddy Mercury :heehee:!

I have an achy knee this evening...of course it would be on the day that I had a chance to rest it. I was taking the first step upstairs, the sharp pain I haven't felt in a few weeks came back, then it was there every step up, for 14 whole steps!!! I am wondering if waiting will cause more damage?

I was wondering if you would catch the song title! Great catch :heehee: As for doing more damage to your knee, I doubt it, but the pain might increase. I suggest you get in touch with your doctor and ask him about a brace to stabilize the knee. He will know what to do!

Today wasn't a good knee day :sad:! Every step I took hurt, a sharp stabbing pain but it was more at the top/medial side of my knee replacement. I left work early, picked up my boy so I could rest it, it seemed ok again until I went to walk up the stairs. Yes @RestAssured I will make that call to the OS to discuss a knee brace and maybe just maybe talk about something for the pain this involves!

@Josephine
After my knee did its painful thing on Thursday there's been a burning sensation ever since down the front of my shin(bone) that starts at the top of what seems like the tibia...do you think this could be related to the knee issue I have been having?

I'm sorry to say I haven't kept up to date with the knee issue you have been having. Perhaps you would fill me in.

are there any other positive revision stories out there? I know there are but it seems everything I have read there is negativity to it, it is scaring me off and has me thinking living with this for the long term isn't a bad idea.

Yes, there are some.

Here's mine:
https://bonesmart.org/forum/threads/revision-tkr-from-pkr-9th-december-2011.12617/

My revised knee is now 2 years, 9 months old and it is working just fine! It was a revision from a partial to a total.

@Josephine

Ok Jo, you called it when I had that explosion of pain a few months ago...the implant has come loose, I need a revision or a total....that call will be made when I go have the surgery. I don't want to go have the surgery, I am at home with my two kids while my husband is in the US seeking treatment for his back, he cannot become a resident of this country until he has something done. So much is up in the air at the moment, I am not ready to have it done just yet...any advice from anyone who has been in this boat will be appreciated (the revision boat that is)...!
I hate being a failed pkr statistic

Shortie is having a good recovery. Her thread is this road is so blooming long...

:doh: Stupid me! How could I forget. Then yes, the pain in your shin is very likely to be connected to your loose implant.

@Pumpkln Thanks, I will take a look at her thread. :)

@Josephine Not stupid of you at all, there are many many folks here to keep up with and me thinks that its impossible to remember each and every one of them. :badspidy:

Sorry that you're having the bad pain again. I think the brace sounds like a great idea to help you postpone the surgery until your husband has his back in better shape. Just a thought, but maybe during the severe pain you've recently had a nerve got pinched that is causing the burning. Glad you're calling the surgeon.

@JustmeT - Hi! Just wanted to pop in and say I am 3.5 weeks post op from my revision and it is going really well so far, I have been following the BS mantra and been getting lots of support here. I am really glad I have been through the revision as it gave me a chance to have an active life to live with my family.

My recovery thread is here https://bonesmart.org/forum/threads/this-road-is-so-bloomin-long.18799
