No no! I will Just run faster than you. I can't help it if everyone else falls, I will be steady enough to win, and then I will come back and drag you to the finish line so 1. I am a heroine, and 2- somebody has to win the silver! The next one to get up can have the bronze. I don't know if you have heard of invisible tripping lines, but I have! :rotfl:

I am not going to fall but I am willing to wait at the finish line for you to get almost there before I step across!....:rotfl:

LOL! Yes, you're quite right. Except you don't need 'PKR' twice in the heading so I adjusted it.

Hi Tessa, sounds like you're doing extremely well (inner thigh pain aside)! I'm so glad to hear it and thanks again for your text on Thanksgiving; it was so sweet to hear from you. I hope your cold gets better quickly! Drink LOTS of fluids! And get lots and lots of rest!

I think your view of why you're doing so much better this time around is interesting. But I wouldn't want to try this without pain meds; you're a much stronger woman than I! Not that you chose to go through it that way but look at how far you've come in such a short time! Bravo!:yay: And I'm so jealous of your 122! I was still 90 at my last measuring. Personally I don't care about the number; I know if the knee wasn't still a bit swollen it would bend better. It's just going to take me some time. If I could elevate and ice properly at work it would sure help. But it is what it is.

I hope you know in my shy times, I took a self defense and I was the only one who could break 3 boards with the side of my hand!

So, if you think you are going to stand on the sidelines and then step in front of me......... :rotfl:

You are kindly welcome for the text., was nice to hear back from you too. My cold is getting better, everyone has it now so we should all be fine in a few days. :happydance:

I wouldn't want to have to do it this way again either Lori...I took my son to a b-day party yesterday, by the time I got home with him my leg was throbbing and achy, so much so that I was feeling quite queasy, unable to take anything to calm it down I just have to grin and bear it. I haven't elevated much and ice makes it ache now, guess I used so much of it for so long, lol, its just never got nearly as swollen as my other one did/does.

You are right, its is just a number and as long as you are happy with what your knee can do, it shouldn't matter. However it is a way to measure our progress or lack thereof. My left knee went from 133 right back to 118 after the Baker's Cyst presented itself....its doing better now but not as well as the right one...

You will get there Lori, I know after I hit the 4 month mark I noticed more improvement and it gets better and better...:thumb:

So, if you think you are going to stand on the sidelines and then step in front of me......... :rotfl:

Me stand on the sidelines? You must have me confused with someone else...:rotfl: I took kenpo karate for years and have earned a 3rd degree brown belt (1st major R knee injury was a result of helping with the yellow belts) anyways...what is a sideline? hahahahaha! Why would you use your head to break three boards? :what: Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh, you said side of your hand, :rotfl:, not your head!

I will let you catch up to me from time to time and maybe, just maybe....naw, never mind, that won't happen....:heehee:

I have a question....I still have what is suppose to be an absorbable stitch that is hanging out of the scar, its long enough to pull on should I want to (and I don't)...its stinging a little around it...any advice as to what I can or should do about it? Tagging Jo as well, maybe she will have a solution? ( :what: Josephine )

Well, I can tell you what my PT Katie did. She got out the alcohol and tweezers to see if it would move. Then she took her scissors and wiped them down with alcohol also. She then cut it as close to the skin as she could, so I would stop messing with it! When I saw Dr. Maale, he said Katie did the right thing.

Now you know, I wouldn't even think about messing with it! I am an angel after all! :rotfl:

Well Just, trying to one up me are you?! let's see, I played Basketball, volleyball, and threw shot put and discus from junior high through high school! I went to nationals in the javelin, not usually thrown in high school, but this was an AAU summer program! I also went to nationals in discus. I didn't want to do shot put, I got tired of carrying the thing with me! :rotfl: Then I went to college and threw the discus, and was "highly encouraged" to throw the shot put again so I did. I ran all my life until after track was over! I decided to take six weeks off which translated into 23 years! I am now back to working out with a personal trainer 2 days a week, and the other three days "Killer" Katie tries to wear me out before I get in the antigravity treadmill, so that I will go the speed she sets! :rotfl: I have found I can go faster than what she sets by shortening my steps and going with the music I have in my IPod. I take long strides in the parts where the music goes slow. Frustrates the heck out of Katie, but I am who I am!

"The Shy One"

Naw matey not trying to one up you at all...I was an adrenaline junkie until the knees said enough...! I have played sports all my life it seems, one of my earliest memories is playing catch with my dad. I enjoy most all sports and found that I was proficient at most until golf came to my attention. I find it to be my nemesis, it defeats me most of the time, it frustrates me much of the time but its fun all the time. I didn't take to squash that well either but tennis, well that was my forte (out of all the racquet sports). I just love any activity that involves fitness and movement...I love swimming and water sports, my kids love the water too so I am looking forward to getting back to that with them. The sport I am most passionate about is downhill skiing, I love it and can hardly wait to get back to it. Winter has depressed me the past 2-3 years because I found it too difficult and painful to ski...its my goal to be back skiing next winter (maybe, just maybe I may get in a run or two this winter....).

I think you are fortunate to have a Katie who is willing to drag you out of your shell and get your knee healthy again...you being so shy and all! :heehee:

Do what Katie did! But be thorough when cleaning things: wound, hands, tweezers, scissors and all, and use clean tissues if you haven't got any sterile gauze. But don't try to pull the suture out. It's probably very securely anchored deep in the wound. Much better to pull on it gently and snip it off as low as you can so the end retracts back into the wound out of view.

Tessa, I remember playing catch with my dad in the yard too. We would catch baseball or football and we would shoot hoops. I played basketball in high school. I would have loved to play volleyball in high school, but trying out for that team seemed to be the best kept secret and I never figured it out. I did play vollyball with a group of young moms when my kids were rather young, and that was a lot of fun. I loved Racketball as a young adult. I took up skiing in my 20s and loved it. I took up snowboarding in my 40s and loved it even more... I love biking and rode in the MS150 just before my youngest child turned 1. I took up golf right before my oldest child was born, but I haven't played in years, maybe I will do that again. Oh yeah, and in my 40s I also did Taekwondo and am a Third Degree Black belt and won 2nd place at Worlds in weapons forms with the Ssang Joel Bong.

Wow, Sonja and Tessa it is kindof fun to reminisce about all of the fun things that we have been involved in.

Thanks Jo, I may try that...have all manner of sterilized stuff, just the thought of tugging on it a little...yikes! Brings back memories of the whole staple removal thing...lol! I am such a whimp! :yikes:

It is fun to look back and remember all the fun things we did...and no longer wonder how I ended up with both knees (replaced) partially, :heehee:!

I did play some volleyball but being very short I was best at serving, lol but beach volleyball was awesome fun. One of the biggest adrenaline rushes I ever had (besides having two kids ) was ice climbing...and coming down a mountain on a bike, love it! To have been relegated to hiking for a few years was a tough adjustment, I quite liked it, don't get me wrong but I was always trying to think of a way to make it *extreme* hiking, :umm:! I have found a way, and I did some but the knees were too unstable to keep doing it so it was back to the oh so safe trails for the tourists...I know my bad.

I used to snowboard but I like/love skiing more, I sold my snowboard and bought more skis...my daughter (she is 8) loves skiing too, I can't wait to get the little guy on skis (he's 3)...
