You will be out there skiing again next year, and your little guy will probably love it too. It is great to do these things with our kids.

I taught all of my kids (4) to ski. When my oldest son was 14 he said, "Hey mom, we should try this." about snowboarding. So, ever since then I tell people, 'If your 14 year old son says, Hey mom, we should try this. You are missing out big time if you do not do it.' So we tried it and loved it and kept doing it, eventually all of the other kids joined us. But sharing that with my kids has been awesome. The other thing that we all 6 did together was Taekwondo. We practiced martial arts, we taught, we traveled and competed. In my first tkd tournament I forgot my form and my son knew how that felt because he had test anxiety and it was cool for him to comfort me. Those were special times.

This winter I get to teach my granddaughter how to ski. She is 4.

Oh I did forget being only one of two girls on a boy's baseball team.
My Dad and I would take the baseball and gloves even when we went on vacation. At the rest areas he would throw hard and fast to me, and I quickly learned to use the web in the glove! He told me if I wanted to be great, then catch the hard ones. I also learned how to throw the fastball and the curve ball! We had a lot of fun! :happydance:

I was out on the ski slopes my senior trip! I did real well until I mistakenly took the black diamond trail instead of the green beginners. I hit several moguls and thought, what's the big deal, and suddenly I was up in the air coming down and twisting my ankle. (The ski patrol had a bunch of eye candy)! I told them to go slow down the hill and the one driving had me put my arms around his waist! Oh the crushes of a high school girl! They found me later on the green slope as they were picking someone else up, and asked me how I could possibly be skiing!:heehee:

You ladies are amazing. I have 6 surf boards in the rafters of my garage (both my grown "boys" come home to surf). But I would NEVER think, oh my I must try this! Ha! Good for you all you adult athletes!

Oh goodness Marianne, if I had 6 surfboards and sons that surfed I would definitely be out there trying it with them. That is another thing that I want to try, but there is no surf in Western Pa... lol I will have to try that the next time I go to the West Coast.

I know I would have to try them (the surf boards) if they were just left there like that....:egypdance:! My sisters say I am wired differently from them because they wouldn't bother either. The water is way to cold here where I live to even attempt surfing, the North Atlantic is ccccccccold! :heehee:

Well Tessa, you and I may just have to take a trip one day to a warm place where we can try out surfing. It would be great fun and another thing to add to our list of things that we have done. It makes me smile just to think about doing it.

Tessa, I just caught up on your thread and you certainly seem to be coming along just great!:thumb: I will be looking for you and Sonja in the next Olympics!:yay:

I think you are fortunate to have a Katie who is willing to drag you out of your shell and get your knee healthy again...you being so shy and all! :heehee:

Yes Just I am! As I look around the boards and hear about the real "killer" PT's, I thank God that Katie is not one of them! She has had to work very hard to get me out of my shyness!:heehee:
Tuesday, I was in therapy with a woman who had torn her meniscus and ACL. She asked me about my knees, so shy old me started talking! It is amazing what I can do when I step out of my comfort zone! The woman asked me what days and times I would be there, and Katie stuck her head from behind the curtain and looked at me! This dear woman is going to have her appointments when I have mine from now on! Katie couldn't believe it. After all I had stepped out of my shy phase and she had NEVER heard anyone, except for about 2 dozen ask to schedule at the same time as me!:rotfl:

Katie is going to need to give me part of her paycheck pretty soon. After all I provide the emotional recovery for these people, and most of the room ends up laughing! I don't know why? It is so hard to overcome my shyness, but to see the look on Katie's face was priceless so I guess I will try to be more outgoing instead of shy at therapy!

Heck yes! If I had surfborads in the house I would be trying them out! I love a challenge!

Count me in!!!!!:happydance:

Let it be somewhere warm and exotic with awesome waves...Australia sounds good! They have excellent surfing beaches there...:egypdance:

I am doing a lot better this time around than the last....knowing what to expect and to not be thrown for a loop every time something *painful* crops up is a bonus. Thanks!

Yeah, you will be seeing me cross the finish line before Sonja cause I am just that competitive but I am compassionate too. By crossing and coming in 1st I will be the one getting the lion's share of the attention, thus saving her from it with her being so shy and all...:rotfl:

Oh that sounds fabulous. I have never been there.

I have never been there either before but I do have friends there....I am talking with two of them on Skype as I type here and have asked them the best place to go surfing...lol! One said, "I don't know, I'm not a surfer." The other one just sent me this link and said to decide for myself...:rotfl:! broken link removed: https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/journal/eight-greatest-surfing-spots-in-australia.htm

Its been 5 weeks now since I had the uni in the right night, all in all I am doing well except that the past couple of days both knees have been hurting. Its the knee on the left knee that is painful right where the hardware is and the right one, its everything else. I may have hit that 5 week wall where I feel like I can do more that I should or actually can but will try regardless.

It snowed here today (1st snowfall of the season), it was very slippery, we slid right off the road...the van turned sideways and was back in the ditch. Our three year old thought it great fun, our 8 year old didn't like it, she thought Dad wasn't paying close enough attention to what he was doing, :heehee:. No damage done and someone came along just a moment later nd helped get us out. My husband was driving me to the parent/teacher interviews at the school, needless to say I missed it.

I wish I could get something sorted out so I could sleep better night time...the achy knees are just that, achy, they keep waking me up...

Poppet, do you have room for 3 surfers to hang out at your house? We are ready to hang 10. Just is a showboat though, I am the ultimate competitor when it comes to anything!! I guess at the beach, we will just have to have a surf off.

Bad bad Just! Trying out the limits of your knee at 5 weeks! I was a "model citizen, well I still am, about babying my knee. I lay on the couch for hours, elevating, icing and so forth! If you were more like me, you would not be testing yourself.

"The Shy one"

Snow, what's that? :umm: I am so glad that your family made it out safely and that there were no injuries! :happydance:

Just, for sleep Nature Made has come out will dissolvable tablets that you take about 30 minutes before bed! They have melatonin, and I fall asleep pretty fast now!

I am wondering if I am modelling myself after you? :rotfl: I know you would never ever ever test those limits!!! :rotfl:! I did and do rest but at 5 weeks of it is more than enough so this morning I walked to the bus stop with my daughter, my husband usually drives her to school but the side roads were still slippery. He was going to walk with her to the bus stop instead, but I kinda sneaked out the door and went with her. Its about a 1/3 of a kilolmetre to the bus stop, we cannot see it from our house so we will walk with her, I did get some very pretty pictures though...
