Josephine Oh the pressure! :doh:LOL! I don't know what to change it to? Maybe Been There Done That, Forgot to Buy the Tee Shirt...(kidding)!

Or how about "I AM ready for the second knee replacement!"............

So glad to hear from you; I wasn't sure where you were in relation to the hurricane mess back there. And very happy to hear you're feeling a bit better!:happydance:

Hi Lori, the hurricane and its mess didn't come close to us and for that we are very grateful. We had a mess compliments of Hurricane Igor two years ago.

The knee is kinda, sorta cooperating today, had a couple of moments where it felt like someone was hammering daggers into it but breathed through it and it was all good again. This no pain medication thing certainly is NOT a good thing and I recommend it to NO ONE ! I knew this was a possibility when I had the surgery that this could happen but I kinda buried it in the dark recesses of my brain and refused to dwell on that.....how ummmmmmmm, (not so smart) of me. I did see my doctor before the surgery to discuss pain management and this is what that got me, nothing, lol! I am dreading physio tomorrow afternoon...!:boohoo: Maybe a couple of wobbly pops :martini: before I go? :rotfl: ! The physiotherapist I had the last time is no longer there, I hope and hope and pray I don't get the mean one...LOL! I will just walk out of there if it is and request a different one.

How is you knee doing being back at work and all?

If "wobbly pops" are alcohol-based I say go for it! Have 2! And save some for afterward! I'm glad things seem to be improving and I'm keeping my fingers crossed you get a really nice physiotherapist! You deserve a break! But I agree, if you don't like whoever you wind up with, don't stick around. There have to be others out there who will be helpful without being harsh.

As for my knee, it seems sometimes like I take two steps forward in recovery and one back. I know that's pretty typical so it hasn't been something I felt it was necessary to post about. I'm trying to really focus on having a better attitude about it though. Today I was able to actually verbalize that I felt like I was making progress when someone asked how I was. Usually I make a face and mention how lonnnnnng it's taking. But twice today I told people that I'm noticing improvement! :yes!: So I guess there's that. :thumb:

Hang in there! It only gets better, right? Right?! :loll:

Tessa, I say go for the wobbly pops,:martini::martini: and if you get the mean PT smack her/him and blame it on the wobbly pops! Then tell the mean PT, There how do like that pain?.

Lori-M Wobbly pops are alcoholic beverages...I don't very often indulge in anything with alcohol but I am thinking there may be no time like the present.... !

I have two physiotherapists...one for each knee, lol! The OS is concerned about the Baker's Cyst in the left knee so there is a PT that specializes in hard to recuperate body parts...lol! Anyhoo she is there just to assess the left knee and see how it handles the stress put on it during the therapy for the right knee...the other PT is a guy, a very nice and good looking guy...both PTs aware of the no pain med deal and are working with me to make sure I don't have pain or much of it...discomfort I am permitted, :heehee:! So all in all, physiotherapy didn't kill me, I am in lots of pain tonight but I went shopping too both before and after too. They didn't schedule any PT for next week just to keep up with the at home exercises.

My daughter's 8th b-day tomorrow so its party time, hahahaha! I will have lots of help with it so I won't have to be doing much, thank goodness. She changed her mind about the science themed party for this year but wants that next year instead.

I still have times like that Lori where I am just so sick and tired of the recovery process but then you notice an improvement and all is okay again for a while. I know about needing to have a better attitude towards the knee, its hard sometimes to have a good one. I get so frustrated with it because its not 100% yet. Hang in there my friend, it will get better and before you know it you will start to forget about the knee.

Having the R knee done has helped the L knee for me, I am thinking its because I have had to slow down for the past 9 days and the resting did its magic, my left knee is reaping the benefits.

Sorry so long winded... thinking about wobbly pops :cocktail:will do that to ya....:rotfl:! Wait until I have some....oh dear!

Tessa, I say go for the wobbly pops,:martini::martini: and if you get the mean PT smack her/him and blame it on the wobbly pops! Then tell the mean PT, There how do like that pain?.

Anyone care to join me for some wobbly pops :cocktail::cocktail::heehee:. Thank goodness both PTs I had/have are very nice and they subscribe to the no pain more gain school of thought. No physio next week because they don't want to stress the knee so soon after the surgery, just have to keep up the at home exercises (I am more than OK with that ).

When I first got there my flexion was 92, before I left it was 105...yay! Extension was 0 and that hasn't been anything other since the pkr last week.

I certainly will join you for some wobbly pops! After all they prescribe those heavy duty drugs to relief pain, so when we're done with those, why not wobbly pops? They are not any worse then those heavy duty drugs that they prescribe for us to put in our bodies!

So lets let it happen! :cocktail: :cocktail:

Eight is such a fun birthday party age! That will be a blast for you as well as your daughter tomorrow!

I get frustrated too that my knee is not 100%. Have to keep believing when I hear that someday the knee is no longer the center of the universe. It can't come soon enough!

I have two to complain errrr I mean extol the virtues of them now....:heehee:. The knees have been so much the focus of attention for many years its time for them to be forgotten about for a while...I can hardly wait for that day when I don't have to think about just doing something and wondering if my knees can handle it.

8 is such a special age, the years are moving by so fast, before we know it she will be a teenager...

Hahahahah :cocktail::cocktail::zzz: that would be me! Any preferences in the wobbly pop you want?...:heehee:

Tessa, anything that pours in a glass, I hate drinking out of the bottle!:rotfl: I have 3 favs, a nice dry martini, red wine and
12 year old Glenlivet malt scotch on crushed ice.:martini::cocktail: And a good beddy bye afterwards never hurt any body!

And, what would be your preferences?

A pomtini that sounds about my speed....really cold! I like a nice zinfandel wine as well once or twice a year too. If I liked alcohol I am sure I would have a shot or two about now.

I thought this was going to be not so bad, the pain for the most part has been somewhat manageable but today I am really struggling with it. My quad and what feels like my it-band are very painful and my leg above the knee feels very swollen, it cannot get more opposite than that other knee...! I had PT on Friday plus some shopping then yesterday my daughter's 8th b-day party, even though I had help with it I was there and doing a few things (no many though). Last night I could not sleep because of the constant aching, it was continuous ice all night and today its still the same. I have been sitting back with my knee up and ice on it for most of the day, its not really working. I know it will get to feeling better and it cannot be soon enough for me....that's my whine (whinge, wine) for today! :loll:

You deserve to have a good whine! Tessa you overworked your knee and body. You just earned Mommy of the Year but now you are hurting. You gave a birthday party at 1 1/2 weeks post-op?! I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and I can't even imagine going shopping and being a hostess. I still have my peeps helping me with household/garden things. Time for rest elevation and ice! But your daughter has a nice memory of her 8th birthday thanks to you :yes!:

I was saying to my husband everything comes in pairs, it was two days in a row that I had to be up and about doing much more than I normally would have been doing at this stage of the game...I rested almost the whole of yesterday but the knee still not liking me much for me over using it....I did however end up cooking dinner last evening....:yikes:! My husband went to the store and he started dinner before he left but at 4pm he wasn't home....a quick call and found out he would be another couple of hours, he decided to go to a friend of ours to get the heater fan fixed...we have two kids 8 and 3 yrs old, not quite old enough yet to be cooking dinner me thinks, lol! When he got home and said his back was hurting I had zero sympathy for him, oops! and wasn't very pleased that he did what he did when he did....had he not started dinner before he I would not have had to finish it...sour grapes on my part I know....

I think your sour grapes were well deserved and well aimed! Don't feel bad for being upset, you were lead to believe one thing and forced to accept another. If he hadn't started dinner, your young one would have settled for something easy for you to fix them and you could have rested the rest of the time. So I understand where your coming from.

You just had major surgery 11 days ago for god sakes, you've already done too much way too soon! And let's not forget, you are still healing from the first one as well! If that doesn't merit extra TLC, what does?! Be kind to yourself and let that guy of yours know that you need to go slow or it Will set you back and it Will take longer to get back to normal!

Stay well my friend!:friends:

They sure would have settled for something easy for me to fix....they are very good about things like that. Thanks for understanding Jacky! I was upset that he decided to go "play" errrrrrrrrrr, I meant to go get the heater fixed which he didn't, it needs a new part.

Since I have had the second one done I keep forgetting that first one is just 6 months post op and still needs consideration...it still gets swollen at times and the baker's cyst is still active :thud:! I have to agree, over the past few days I have been overdoing it but its kinda hard to do it much differently with to little kids, they need care and I need to help do it.
