Tessa, I'm glad to here you made it through the staple removal, thank goodness you would have to do that again! :console2:

He said you could drive for another 8 more weeks or until you are at 8 weeks? 8 more weeks sounds like a long time for someone that's not on heavy duty pain meds.

Stay well my friend! :friends:
Thank you Janet, I so hope I never ever ever have to have staples again. Heck, when I accidentally shot a staple into my hand (and no, it was not a paper stapler but a high powered staple gun for putting staples into wood and such), it didn't hurt this much....

Hi Tessa, glad to hear that you made it through staple removal and all is good. Hang in there. Wow! 8 more weeks till you drive sounds like a long time. I do hope that you have someone to get you where you need to go. ((((hugs))))
Thanks BJ, staple removal will not be recommended by me, ever, :heehee:. 8 weeks is a long time, I mean that's like after the new year...I thought he said at 8 weeks too but he said to me, "I mean in 8 weeks after you see me again." My husband heard him too and snickered I am sure....lol!

That is a long time to have to wait to drive. But the doc must have his reasons. Glad your hubby is willing to escort you around.

Yes, It is good that your hubby is willing to take you wherever you need to go, but I do imagine that you will be chomping at the bit to get out on your own... Hang in there girl!!!

Debbie_joints I wish I knew his reasons...lol! My hubby may be less enthusiastic about escorting me around in a couple of weeks when I know I have to get some Christmas shopping done....

@BJ_Mac I am already chomping at the bit to go on my own and its only been 17 days, another 8 weeks of this and we will ALL be nuts...:spin:

Well I know they don't want you to drive until you can quickly brake etc. At least you have a chauffeur. It will be all the more sweet when you're "liberated."

Congrats on being through the staple removal milestone!

I bet it will be sweet when liberated, just gonna have to to take this no driving rule a day at a time...:sigh::cry: Hahahahahaha!

I admire your positive attitude Tessa!:yes!: It's tough having to rely on someone else when you need to get around. My doctor hasn't forbidden me to drive but my husband and I set our own criteria since my knee was so bad for so long. I've driven our suburban around the mobile home park to get the "feel" for how the knee will do and I think I'd be okay, but I'd rather not find out that won't be in commuter traffic!:gaah: So for now he drives me to the train and picks me up. :thumb:

My positive attitude....:rotfl:! I am more positive this time around though...I want to just run (drive) to the store for something and I have to wait for someone to drive me...:gaah: The doctor didn't say anything about NOT riding a motorcycle though, hahahahahaha!

Last night was the roughest night I have had ever....neither knee wanted to be comfortable and they both ached so much no matter what I did. I spent the day yesterday resting, elevating and even icing, guess I was too good to my knees, :heehee:, two days in a row being nice to them and it they were confused so the rebelled...:thud:

Isn't that the way? Weird. Saturday when I "did" the dog park and then the pedicure I thought I would be miserable but not so much. Which is a good thing!

I know what you mean about relying on other people. As a mum of six i am so used to looking after everyone else I just cant get used to asking for things i need. And as for driving i would rather stay in than ask my husband who is self employed and is busy all the time. Luckily i did a lot of my christmas shopping before my op and doing my rest on line. It does seem a long time another 8 weeks before you drive. I am hoping to get an automatic car soon as it will be easier than a manual. Heres hoping you have a better nights sleep. Its quite a battle sometimes.

Oh dear Tessa, I am sorry to hear about your restless night. I do hope that those knees settle down tonight and allow you to get a peaceful night's sleep tonight. (((((hugs)))))

Happy for you that it wasn't miserable...yay!:yay:

I am wondering what the OS has/had to say today? I know it will all be good :egypdance:!

I went for a walk yesterday to take advantage of the very rare very warm November day, we took our little guy to the playground and I walked the walking path that is there...none the worst for wear for it...:thumb:!

My sister is doing a little Christmas shopping for me today so that is a help. My husband is very good about taking me anywhere I want to go especially when I say, 'naw that's OK I can drive myself.' Hahahahaha, I know, my bad!

I am taking my little boy back to his playgroup/arts&crafts/read-to-me program tomorrow, I have been for a month and a half, he is looking forward to mommy taking him.

I had just gotten my sleeping patterns back in some semblance of order and this knee was replaced, so here we go again. I fall asleep at a drop of the hat in the evenings but I am awake again in 2-3 hours because my knee/knees are aching...I don't usually get time to nap during the day, if I do its only for a few minutes. Kids don't like it when mommy sleeps in the day, I can't blame though, they are so sick of this as I am. (Thanks BJ).

My OS is wonderful! He checked my flexion today and I know it's not great but he just said it's a slow process and you'll get there.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your walk; not to mention that you had a warm November day to do it in!

Its been 3 weeks and 3 days and I my knee isn't 100% yet? What's up with that?

First pkr back in May it was at this point I was getting really worried and frustrated because my knee hurt worse than ever, it was still swollen and the bruising wasn't gone...this time around, the other pkr, yep, still hurts like heck, still has the swollen feeling at times and there is a wee bit of bruising left and I am like, so what, it will eventually go away and by the 6 month mark it will be feeling sooooooooooo much better...just gotta keep reminding myself this is not a competition and the winner will be me regardless of who is healing and recovering faster.

Tessa good for you. I'm glad you are posting..you have such a wonderful positive attitude. I can't imagine taking care of little ones while going through this although I have to admit that it's the little ones that make life worthwhile. Plus you are not using any pain meds so you are such an amazing example of Mind over Matter! Supermommy Tessa!

I think this recovery is better than the last one knee-wise...I was doing my exercises this morning and realized, hey, I can bend the right knee just as far as the left knee...I am wondering how that happened, :yes!:! Now that can either mean (a) my left knee is doing very poorly or (b) my right one is doing really well....:heehee:!
