Hi guys hope your all doing ok xxxx

Kids are still off on half term the eldest goes back in the morning ut the youngest doesn't go back till Wednesday.

I'm doing ok but I have been feeling a bit down I am really tired and keep bursting into tears

Not really sure why think I am just sick of the pain....

Well, of course you are, sweetheart! It must wear you down big time. You're such a trouper, coping with that and looking after your family and all. I really admire you.

Natalie,

Hang in there! This recovery thing is a long process, and your case has been more challenging than most. I was doing pretty well and then I overdid it last Monday. I was in pretty bad pain for most of the week and had to go back to taking the Rx painkiller before bed. Today I'm feeling better, but I'm still really tired. Lots of ups and downs (physically and mentally!). I've had some teary times. I just want to be 100% better and get on with my life, but I need to be more patient. Like you, I'm not just recovering from the replacement surgery, but the havoc from years of SC.

I imagine you've been doing more with your kids home and not resting enough. I find the weekends when my husband and son are home to be more exhausting than the regular weekdays when they're at work and school. Isn't that terrible? One weekend they went camping, and I found I had a lot more energy than usual. Hmmm . . .

I think about you all the time and hope, wish, and prayer for the very best for you!

Hi Rebecca lovely to hear from you huni xxxx

I am so sorry you too have had a rough time of it :( It is very hard not to want leap through this recovery process with ease!I want to be up and running not down and moaning!

I have been doing more than usual and I am back to being the full time mum and doing all the housework and cooking but I felt so bad on my husband he has been working and doing everything in the house too so it has been a 24/7 job for him!I have had guests too so I cleaned the house from top to bottom and made a 3 meals a day!:hissy:

We will get through this and hopefully in the future we can talk about the disease as a thing of the past!!

Take care hun xxxxxxx

Dear Natalie....sweetie....no wonder you are having a bit of a tough time. Doing all that work would get to someone who WASN'T in recovery!!! I hope you can take a few days for yourself once the kids are back in school.

Oh, Natalie, you are an inspiration to me with all you have been through. I have read your recovery posts from the beginning, way before I had my surgery and it boggles my mind what you have had to cope with for so long.

I just had my surgery not even 2 weeks ago, and I'm exhausted with everything already. I had a good cry the other night and I have just started on this recovery road! The pain has increased the last few days, and the nights are very tough to get through.

Keep posting how you are feeling because it really inspires me to see that I will get there eventually. Thanks for all your thoughts so far.

Aw thankyou so much Maggie it means so much that people are listening to my waffles :hehe: I am glad I have helped in some ways I remember that 2 week post op feeling and it does get better xx

Even though I feel pain still and I am suffering there is a whole list of things that have improved since op day,

I can walk without crutches in the house.
I can make myself a cup of tea.
I can cook for the house without sitting down every 2 minutes it's all every 5 now!
I can shower alone.
I have 90 degree bend and I can walk for longer than 5 minutes all small milestones but milestones all the same :)

I have a very very long list of things I would like to achieve but I intend to tick them off as I go along :thmb:

Take care Maggie xxx

Natalie - sounds like you are really getting there. Do take it easy though. I am still discovering I can easily overdo and set my recovery back - all this at almost 6 months.

We had a house full of guests all weekend and I am just shattered today. Everything hurts. Hoping it's temporary.

Take care Natalie!

Oh yes Jaycey I am exactloy the same today I am in complete agony!

I am icing and elevating as we speak and I have had extra painkillers :thmb:

Hope your taking it easy today hun xxx

Natalie, that's a great list of accomplishments! Don't feel that any positive step is too small to count. It can be a long journey sometimes, but each step forward means you are going in the right direction!

I like your list Natalie. What a great idea! I'm going to start one myself. It really brings little things into perspective very nicely.

It lets us peek at where we have been, and exactly where we are going. Thanks. Have a great day!

It does Maggie I have one written down too and it helps me to look back and see I actually have achieved things however small they are :thmb:

Only one day till my youngest is back at school and I can head back to PT and concentrate on me in the day so hopefully that will help my recovery lots.

So it was my first PT appointment today in 2 weeks!

I started off with 15 minutes on the pedals and then we measured my ROM it was 90 as usual :hehe:Only what I expected it to be it has stayed the same for weeks now.I wanted to have a look at my walking today as I am slightly concerned that I not really walking properly and he agreed that my I seemed to be walking all on the left side and not really attempting to put much pressure through my right leg at all,I think part of is it is because I am scared,i have been on crutches for 7 years, and a lot is muscle wastage and there isn't enough strength there. He said we need to work on stregthening my hip as that seems very weak so I have a whole load of exercises to do as well as all the others!
My next appointment with my surgeon is 19th November just hope he is happy with 90 degrees because it won't push that just yet so it is tough if he isn't!

Good attitude, Natalie!!! Stay strong. You're going to have to take things small steps at a time. Hopefully your surgeon will back you with this.

I'm glad to hear your therapy went well. Kids back in school = time to focus on YOU!!!

Good for you Natalie!:D

I can hear the determination in your voice! You are going to get through this and be able to walk "normally":hehe: in no time!

I am so glad that you have reached 90 so maybe your surgeon will
leave you alone now.

Take care of yourself and remember "you are worth it!":D

Thanks so much ladies :)

This place has been my lifeline I don't know how I would have got through the last 3 months without you all so thankyou :yrk:

Hi Natalie, Hang tough! You are certainly doing the right thing. Just take it step by step. Slow but sure is better than trying to make huge strides and setting yourself back. Just don't overdo on the new exercises. You don't want to get too sore.

Take care!
