Hi Natalie:
I am very happy to hear you are getting out and reclaiming your life. I am having the same issues as you but at a later stage and with more activity. I do remember that earlier in my recovery just going food shopping was a painful chore.

You MUST continue to push for your quality of life, even if it means a fight with your knee. Don't over-do it though.

I was told not to do squats of any kind. At all. This was from a revision specialist whom I consulted about persistant pain in my thigh. He told me to "live my life, do my thing" and stop concentrating on my leg strength. As my knee is healing, my leg is getting stronger. ON its own. I do heel slides, straight leg raises and core work.

Make another date with the ladies again. Drink something stronger, and have a good time!!!
Sandy

Lol!Thanks Sandy :) I was just talking to my friend and it was very easy to persuade her that we needed another night out!:hehe:

The squats are done whilst leaning against a wall I did a few at PT and I have to admit they were sore so he said to just take it slowly with them :thmb:

Hi Natalie!

Wonderful news to hear about the 100 flexion in your knee!:jump: You have been through so much and it is great to see you progressing so well!:D

The girl's night out sounds like a blast! I have been going with a friend of mine and even though we just get a glass of tea and "shoot the bull" for a few hours, it lifts my spirits tremendously!

So very happy for you, Natalie. You have worked so hard for this!

That part about feeling like "me" again really hits home. It feels like it will never happen, but it sounds like a night with the girls started the journey for you. Carry on and have a great week.

Natalie - have you ever noticed this thread has had over 44,000 views? Amazing! So many people checking up on you.

Congrats, Natalie, on your 100 degree flexion! I know you worked so hard! Glad you are getting back to things and know it will just continue to get better for you. : )

Can I ask everyone if you are taking part in
the survey at the top of the page?
You only have another week!

Back to PT in the morning I hope he is happy with my progress as I have been doing lots of physio at home this week :thmb:

I see my surgeon Friday too and the we have booked a 2 day break at a lovely hotel with a spa for Sunday and Monday I cannot wait to do some swiiming and spend some time relaxing :)

Hope your all well xxxxx

Oh, Natalie.....a little holiday will be WONDERFUL!!! Take photos of the hotel if you can.....I'd love to see some of the sights!

Oh, Natalie, this sounds so wonderful and you deserve it!!! Enjoy yourself and take it easy. I'm so glad to hear that things are getting better for you. :jump:

Well I had my appointment with my surgeon yesterday we had specifically requested the date because we knew he was in clinic we arrived at 1245pm and went into a consultation room for 1pm and sat and waited, and waited and waited we then heard a nurse say why is that lady still sat in that room and someone reply she is waiting for Mr Porter,we then heard a phone call

"Hey it's so and so from clinic is Mr Porter on the ward he has forgotten about a patient in clinic"

Still noone came to see us 20 minutes later his registrar arrived and proceeded to tell the nurse of and asked why they hadn't been informed that I was waiting! He then came in and apologised over and over,it was now 3pm!I was fuming as I didn't want to see the registrar which sounds awful but I just needed to be reassured from the main man that things were ok but it was tough as he wasn't coming back to clinic!

So basically the registrar just said see you in 3 months and things will be a lot better by then!

WASTE OF TIME!!!

Natalie.....like you, I would have been fit to be tied!!! There are NO EXCUSES for that behavior. I'm with Rebecca that I would be tempted to find a way to report this problem. So now do you have to make yet another appointment to get to see your surgeon???

Sadly, consultants aren't accountable to anyone for issues like this.

However, Natalie - I would never have waited more than 40 minutes. I'd have been nagging the staff's ears off and kicking up. Don't ever be that 'patient' again! They should have done something long before that. And I would complain to the unit manager - about the staff for allowing it to go on for so long. You should also cite the other occasion too.

@#*^!!!!%&##!!
That's me venting a little for you Nat!
I feel your frustration. It hits close to home and I truly feel your pain. I know how much you looked forward to getting the doctors feedback on your situation especially after your last visit. This was important to you. Don't doctors understand this? Sometimes I just don't get it.

I once took a half day vacation to get to my doctor's appt and he was called into surgery. So a group of us that really couldn't afford to take more time off from work asked if he would see us if we waited for him. It took 3 hours but he did come back to the clinic to see us. I was very thankful for that. He was a good doctor and I do realize emergencies do come up so he showed us just how thoughtful he was.

So how are you doing? Is PT pleased with your progress? Onward and upward! Keep it up Nat!

I just got back from a girls weekend in Vegas. We are both turning 60 in a few months so decided to treat ourselves. We walked and walked. My knee held up very well. Had more trouble with my foot on this bad leg than anything. I feel I'm not walking correctly. Had blisters all over the one foot and had to go to the doctor for an infection in big toe. Getting old is for the birds!
Take care Nat-

Natalie I would have been livid! There is just no excuse for this - very poor planning. But I agree with everyone - you are too patient. I would be nagging everyone within range!

I had the same experience with my spinal consultant. His clinic would start at 9:30 but I knew he and his colleagues were on ward rounds until at least 10:30. Drove me insane!

Sounds like you are making good progress though. Take care!

Natalie that is horrible!:shk:

Mr. Porter should have made the time to come and see you! There is no excuse for his behavior!

I am sorry that you had to wait so long.
