MUA knee so stiff<<

I'm glad you got your leg checked out for DVT. It's always better to check, if you have any worries.

The bruising will probably be with you for a while. Have you seen some of these photos?
Bruising after surgery

Hello ,
Upsetting when things like that pop up.
I too still wonder how some people are able to go back to work on a regular basis at week 6...or gasp! even earlier. ?!?
At the beginning of week 7, my knee still has that tight feeling or sausage about to burst swelling feeling especially if I've been walking. Mind it's hardly 300 m and the knee reacts...or too long sitting with the leg down. I still use ice and resort to paracetamol about 3x a day.
On my thread I wrote about how I felt at the completion of week 6. So you have company!

Glad you don't have DVT @bland9 - smart thing to check it out. I'll bet many on here have felt the same way - why did I do this (I know I did). I'm past those feelings now but it's still too soon for me to tell how much better my knee will be - each week seems a little better.

DVT can turn so scary so fast, it's worth a check out. When I had so much quad pain, they sent me for the ultrasound to rule out DVT, even though it was not anywhere near the common DVT presentation (calf). Better safe than sorry.

6 weeks in and left op leg is extremely itchy all over and not just around scar - feet etc and driving me potty :dubious: -is this normal

mine was not itchy, but very dry and scaly until i started moisturizing my legs after shower. i wonder why your leg is itchy? sorry i can't be of any help ~ hope you can figure it out.

The only think I can remember causing my legs to itch was Tylenol PM. The Benedryl in it caused extreme itchy legs that kept me awake, if I took 2 of them. I can do just 1, but not 2.

update - nearly 7 weeks in my knee is still rather stiff and still need two crutches for support if walking any longish distant tight banding still very much restricting knee , still aches when standing for any period of time. though very little pain at night ,mentally not worry about it so much now , no dvt thank goodness , seeing the surgeon next week . wondering if he will be signing me off by him and PT , this I feel abit unnerving because if sign off the reassurance when facing problems is gone:bawl:, I'm alone apart from the reassurance I receive from you guys the bonesmarties, which is a godsend :friends:

You will always have us! The people might chance, but not the quality of the help from this site!

Stiffness is one of the last things to go. I complained about it for quite a while. The stiffness is inner swelling and that will go away eventually and so will the stiffness!

We'll be here for you, but even if your surgeon signs you off, you should still be able to phone for advice if you strike anything really concerning.

For many of us, standing seemed to be more uncomfortable than walking as we recovered.

I'm still stiff and have internal (external) swelling at 6 1/2 months. It's a marathon, at a turtles pace. Hang in there.

Bland9 - Like @jaschembra, I had my left knee replaced (and straightened) on Jan. 3 this year and also continue to have stiffness, a bit of swelling - and enough pain to need at least one dose of Tylenol per day, but not at night. I suggest that, after your surgeon releases you, you continue some physiotherapy, if at all possible. (I'm now paying out of my own pocket because my insurance coverage has run out, but it's worth it to me - for reassurance!) I still go to physio (gentle!) once a week, where my therapist keeps me mobilized and helps with a serious and frustrating IT band problem that's limiting my progress. It can be a slow recovery. Some people recover quickly with no complications, some don't. It can take a full year, apparently. Good luck!

feel the banding around knee starting to loosen just slightly but boy the knee cap throbbing now . I know now how artificial I starting to feel , strange all these feelings and sensations we get ,:old:

Yes, my OS was straight up with me, "no, it won't feel like your own knee". However, I believe years down the road, we will tend to forget about it because I see way too many people that have had theirs for years and you would never know it except for the scar!

@Knees4Me I'm glad I'm not alone with one dose of Tylenol a day. Although today I tried (and succeeded) not taking any. May want extra tomorrow lol

We had our operations or "upgrades" around the same time. 7 weeks for me now. Am in a similar healing stage as you. I also need my trekking sticks for any distances longer than 150 meters or so. I found out that 20 minutes is around the maximum time I can stand before it aches a lot.
Last 3 days, probably due to manipulation by OS or using stationary bike too early? I now have pain all the time. And the tight band or clamp feeling is still there. Acetomenaphen helps a bit.
I hope to get my muscles strong again in order to drive and eventually not notice the mechanical feeling...and not think about my knee ALL the time. I sympathise and empathise a lot with you.
It's good hours and bad hours for now.

woke up yesterday and could not stand - not because of the knee but a severe pain in the back and could not stand straight, must have slept at an angle or a trap nerve , has anyone had this problem to:bawl:

Oh yes, sleeping in the wrong position can make you hurt in all kinds of different areas! Usually, I'm able to work it out. Sometimes I'm not and will have to wait until that next night for it to go away. I hope yours go away really quickly!

Yes, my OS was straight up with me, "no, it won't feel like your own knee".
MY knees are five and two years old and they feel completely "mine". So much so that I get quite a shock when I see all that hardware on an X-Ray. I guess it just takes time!
