@Josephine, if you look on the larger images just above, you'll see that the dates of the two x-rays are May and October 2019.

Got the test results. Hip is not infected but the stem implant is very loose. He thinks it is rotating at times in the femur. So need a revision. Seeing the original surgeon next Thursday and will need to plot a path after that. I appreciate all of the prayers.

Happy that there's no infection. Sorry about the loose stem and what looks to be an upcoming revision. Hopefully you can find a good revision surgeon in your area. Let us know how things go after your appointment next week, in them meantime will keep you in my prayers.

Hello @BigChief56
I imagine you are glad to get a definitive answer but I'm sorry this means another surgery and recovery for you.
No infection is certainly great news so this next recovery hopefully goes smoothly and you can get back to your life.
I'm guessing you will be pointing out Josephine's observations regarding the bone spurs in case this facilitated the loosening.
Do let us know how things are going and baby that hip in the mean time.

Thanks @Layla @Mojo333 @CricketHip @Elf1, seeing the original surgeon next week. Will see if he cares to make this right. All things being equal may just come down to where I can get in for surgery sooner. Would like to get this corrected before anything else comes up. I appreciate the prayers and well wishes. With no infection, it is just another surgery. Will be #8 for me.

Add me to the long list of well wishers. No doubt this would be a huge bummer but at least it is something that can be overcome with the right care. Good luck with everything. There is always comfort in having a solution.

Thanks all. Saw the original surgeon yesterday and it was a good visit. He was sympathetic to my issues and wants to make it right. he did state that this was the first mechanical failure he has seen with the DePuy Actis Stem. He does about 400 hips a year. Unfortunately he no longer does revisions (hasn't for about 3 years), but he expedited an appointment to a colleague in his new practice that he has been referring patients to over the 3 year period he hasn't done revisions. he cited 3 revision surgeons that he has used and via multiple forums i researched all were highly regarded so getting more comfortable as this goes. he also validated the belief that the hip was not infected (as did my family doctor who i had seen earlier in the day). he also indicated that he felt waiting to Feb 2020 to get surgery wouldn't be the best and he thought i should be able to get surgery quicker with the doc he referred me to. I have the appoint with him next Wed so we'll see. I appreciate all of the well wishes and prayers over this ordeal. I will keep you posted as i learn more. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Hello and Happy Saturday to you!
Hopefully you'll get on the schedule sooner if that's what your surgeon recommends. All the best for your appointment next week. Wishing you comfort as you wait and a Happy Thanksgiving if we don't hear from you before then.

Saw the revision surgeon today and he confirmed the implant is definitely loose. Got a surgery date for 31 Dec so Happy New Year! He exudes a quiet confidence that was comforting. He stated there is good chance the stem will “pop” right out but cautioned that cutiing the femur may be required. He uses Zimmer products (Acros or Wagner) for revisions so if anyone has any experience with those products I would be interested in any information. This will be a posterior approach with restrictions so I’ll prep the house for that. I appreciate all of the well wishes. Will keep you posted as I go forward. Happy Thanksgiving!

Boy, that sounds like a very good consultation. Another Dec 31st surgery! We have another member getting a psoas release on that date. That's great that he's getting you in so soon.
I'm sorry you need to do a revision but love the fact that you got in with a great Specialist.
Now you will be prepping the home for restrictions, will be most interested in following your recovery.

Happy Thanksgiving @BigChief56

Hi @BigChief56
I know another surgery is not how this was supposed to go...but I'm glad you got this confirmation from a surgeon who you can have faith in.
Time to get that hip fixed...for good!

Hope your day is relaxing and happy.

Happy they are able to get you in before the year ends and the and the revision surgeon sounds like he's on top of it. Having another surgery isn't anything that any of us want but if it's going to get you fixed up it'll be worth it. Hope you're relaxing and enjoying your Thanksgiving!

Thanks @Elf1 @Mojo333 @CricketHip @Layla , looking forward to getting this done. For my BHR that was a posterior approach so I have a good idea what to expect. Will be taking it very easy after this one to make sure I don’t cause any issues on it. No idea why the first one didn’t take so I want to make sure I wasn’t the issue. Plan to be on my walker much longer and may use crutches before I transition to a cane. Fortunately I will be able to telework once I am able so I don’t need to rush back to work. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving....now for some football.
