Hip Arthroscopy Hip Arthroscopy ups and downs

@MammaT, I have an appointment with the consultant on the 22nd, so a couple of weeks away. I get to see the physio again on Thursday. He is going to evaluate how I am doing for when I see the consultant.

I’m still struggling to sleep well. Only been managing about 4-5 hours broken sleep, then struggling all day to focus. Usually I could sleep 8-9 hours no problem. Not sure if it’s the pain killers keeping me awake or anxiety! Probably a mixture of both.

Got to go to work now. Have a good day:) :-) (:

Hope work went well. The lack of sleep combined with pain can be overwhelming. Hopefully they have answers for you in a couple of weeks so you can have a plan.

@Alfie888 So happy to hear from you, so distressed you are still struggling.
Please let us know what happens at consult...I know you really don't want to wish for another surgery, but I honestly think a replacement will give you your life back.
This apparently is not working!
Advocate for what you believe it's best. I think you've been ultra patient in trying to give this procedure a chance.
Praying things go your way, my patient purple pal.
Hope today is a better day.

Nearly done at work, time for home, not bad for a Monday. Yes it's starting to take it's toll. I'm feel anxious and down with the whole thing now. Just doing the simplest things are getting a little overwhelming at times. I suffered from anxiety and depression in my younger years and really don't want to go down that road again. Not a good place to be. As someone who was very active before this it's difficult and frustrating at times.

Praying things go your way, my patient purple pal.
Thanks Mojo. Lets see what the consultant says in a couple of weeks. Things aren't getting better, a little worse if anything.

I did get out fishing over the Christmas period for a few hours. Didn't catch anything, again. I'm sure those fish know I'm at a disadvantage and see it as payback time:loll:

Well @Alfie888 , try to go out fishing more. You may not catch anything, but as long as you are casting, life is good. I have not gone fishing since my husband passed away in 2015. I am definitely going this summer with my matching set of hips!:realing:

Sorry you're still struggling @Alfie888
Chronic sleep loss Is frustrating. Makes concentration difficult.
Best wishes for your physio visit on Thursday and your consultation on the 22nd.
Hope you get some restorative rest soon.

Hey Alfie. Does this count? Caught on trusty Spiderman pole few months ago. Decided not to mount.
Did however eat...like a tater chip!

Anything counts at the moment @Mojo333.

Here are a couple of pics of me pestering some fish. To think these where only taken a couple of years ago. Those hips go down hill fast once they decide to go. I couldn't dream of getting in the kayak at the moment.

Well @Alfie888 You may not catch anything, but as long as you are casting, life is good.

Very true!!!!

Beautiful!!
You, the mountains and the sky. The fish....meh! :heehee:

That thing is humongous, good job! :realing:
@Alfie888

Oh my stars...and you caught that from a kayak!
Not with Spiderman pole, I bet.
You are going to get you some new hips, I think, Alfie. You will be so happy you did.
I would've liked to have kept all my original body parts, but these new ones work really well...and pain free.
Don't despair, be determined. Have felt you have been very patient in giving your procedure a chance to give you your life back.
Time for plan B, I think.
Wishing you a pleasant week:) :-) (:

That top photo was taken in Northern Norway, 200mile above the arctic circle. Myself and 2 friends drove there from the UK, a 3000 mile round trip. It was a truly magical place. Whales, killer whales, dolphins, sea otters and some very large fish. Very remote, we lived off what we caught and camped in the wild most of the time. It really was the adventure of a lifetime.

Those 2 fish went back to fight another day, way to big for the BBQ.

Not with Spiderman pole, I bet.

Hahaha. Not all the fish I catch are as big as that. I'm quite content catching little stuff in local lakes and harbours. The size doesn't matter as long as your outdoors with nature.

It's very beautiful, Alfie. What a vacation! That had to be an adventure and trip of a lifetime!
Mojo is in hiding.....you put her to shame with her Spidey pole catch :heehee:

I hope you have a good visit with the physio tomorrow @Alfie888 Please keep us posted.
Wishing some pain relief for you. Hope today is a good day!

Hope tomorrow brings you answers.
And nope, unabashedly unashamed.
Hard to get those little bait stealing suckers.
Bet that big one got right on:heehee:
Bet mine was easier to get off the hook!

Sounds magical. Time to figure out how to get back to that.
I'm envious...I would love to do something like that.

Yeh, they aren’t that easy to get off the hook when they are trying to bite you. It’s like having an angry dog onboard, hence my worried look. I do try to use barbless hooks when fishing for anything with teeth as it’s safer for all parties.

I had my physio appointment today. He kind of guessed that things wouldn’t have improved since my last visit. To be honest I was in quite a bit of pain today. Not sure why as I haven’t been doing anything out of the ordinary. I asked him to write a note regarding my progress for the consultant. I can’t belive this isn’t normal practice and that those involved in the recovery stage aren’t more joined up. Roll on the 22nd! Can’t say I’m looking forward to it though.

Hi, @Alfie888
Well, another week and a half until you meet with the surgeon....
Hoping your sleep has improved and that your pain is manageable.
It's sad to think of you in pain, sleepless, anxious and in turmoil over all.
Prayers that your visit with the surgeon will be the beginning to the end to your suffering.

I know you aren't, but that pain has got to go! Agree about PT being honest about ongoing issues.
I'm hoping they just get a permanent solution even if it means another surgery that i know you were hoping to avoid.
I really did not want to replace my body parts, but considering the quality of life I was having to deal with...it was great choice.
Praying you get answers:praying:

It’s hard to tell why some days are worse with pain than others @Alfie888. Yesterday was bad for me-I think weather contributed. While you aren’t looking forward to more surgery, I think you will be helped if you can get some answers and get a plan. Hope today is a bit better.
