THR Hi! Post THR recovery

I'm sending good Mojo your way, my friend.:friends:

I developed bursitis in my left hip! My hip replacement is on right side.
My OS said to use Voltaren on it and see if it improves as well as ice. Voltaren is an nsaid cream and you should not take Ibuprofen while using it and the instructions it comes with need to be read carefully.
I use it off and on. Then I ice. If it doesn't resolve she said they can drain it but it's not creating any difficulty for me other than I can't lay on my side.

Thxs Glass,,,Ice always seems to do the trick ,thats why im thinking Bursitis.Tried Volteron does nothing for me .Not going go down the ibropofen route dunna want to cock the system up even more. So frustrating ,was doing so well .From one to another , aaw well i suppose its what i deserve in my vain attempts to hold back the sands of time hahaha.Gunna start drinking, smoking and stronger hahaha

Hopefully this too will pass.:fingersx:
We do have info in our library dealing with hip bursitis.

Thxs Mojo , interesting informative explanation of the unbelievably complicated make up of our body , is truly amazing .It explains how lucky I have been in getting to 69 years more or less ,serous, injury free .So grateful and hoping to use the information to get back to previous form despite the setbacks.
Brilliant forum.

I’m sorry you‘re still waiting on the results, JW. It seems like a long time to wait, but maybe that’s considered normal…not sure?
I hope you’re feeling better. With any luck you’re cooler than we are in my area. Heat and humidity are lingering here.
I hope you have a nice weekend!
@JohnWilky

How are you doing by now, John? My surgery was 5/19 and I had a really rough time the first week too.

Hate to see you still struggling, my friend.
Hope you can find some happy spots this weekend.

Hang tough JW! We are all pulling for you and sending prayers and good energy. Sorry it's such a long wait for the results. :console2:

Good to know all shows sturdy.:yes!:
Good idea to restart exercise carefully and incrementally at first....see if/what/where discomfort arises...and document. This might give physio clues to what may need strengthening or sorting.

Hope the rest of your week is brill! (Is that right? ...my attempt at Brit speak:heehee:)
In the U.S. south...
we would say: Have a good 'un!

Withdrawn my half Marathon application and Iron Man triathlon entry.
Uh, oh, watch out, here he comes. He’s baaack.
So happy you received the “all clear” JW
Go s-l-o-w. Enjoy!
@JohnWilky

Hi all , hope your feeling good. For info following my thorough appt with the physio earlier.
She feels that I am weak in the glutes ( worse) thus putting more pressure on the other areas around my midriff inc important area surrounding the new hip.
Also that I have a outward rotation of my THR leg .
Recognised my limp .
Briefly we are going to concentrate on strengthening the glutes and closing the hip back to Sq.
Feels that I maybe a tad short in new hip leg .
Also stiff in back and midriff .
Recommended no running or football (naturally)
So on this I will return to gym to exercise and strengthen the glute area initially ,
Bet you can’t wait to see how I progress (regress) here go’s
Best of luck to everyone and a pain free weekend.

Good luck with your gym work @JohnWilky ! Easy does it (as you know).

If you have a slight leg length difference, your body will adapt pretty quickly. You can always use a lift in your shoe (I did for 4 years between my THRs).

Enjoy your weekend!

Sick, Dope, The Bomb....
Yea, crazy slang from these kids...
Im sure our parents thought the same!
All the best as you go forward with strengthening.
Just remember that doing more reps isn't always helpful.
Giving muscles time to recoup from the strengthening exercises and going forward incrementally will likely give the best results.
Hope your Sunday is sweet @JohnWilky

Sounds like you have a game plan, JW. Let us know how it’s going after you have a few sessions under your belt. Wishing you the best, always!
