Knee Infection Finally Finishing Up

Praise God the surgery's coming closer for you. You are one tough cookie! You both are being prayed for by many people, including me!

Thanks Karri! He is doing better today. They were able to pull the lines out and he still has to lay flat for 6 hours. Hopefully he will come home this afternoon.
Mayo is on it now..just called to schedule the pre-op physical for 2/7 and I will see the surgeons again on the 24th for any of the last issues before surgery. I am feeling better about it all:)

@KarriB...couldn't resist. My son's pups even have Steeler shirts...that's my hubby in the Pats jersey.

@PegGar16 All I can say is WOW! I can't imagine going through all that. Your attitude, optimism and perseverance is just amazing. You are an inspiration and a warrior! You and your husband are in my prayers!

Love it! This is killing us in Pittsburgh! How is your son a Steeler fan?

Both of them are because of their father. They are so die hard that my youngest flew to Pittsburgh for a game/weekend for his 30th birthday (present from a girlfriend)...even got me a Steeler Christmas ornament..LOL
It hangs up next to my Pats ornament. My boss is also from Pittsburgh and goes back for one game every year. We love our football:)

Peggy, I hope your son enjoyed the game in Pittsburgh. It is quite an atmosphere. Schools all over the tri-state area celebrate every Friday of football season by dressing in football shirts. The entire school is black and gold each Friday. Tailgating is an art here!

The loss to NE produced has produced a month of mourning here in the river city!

Mayo is an amazing place. My husband has worked at Mayo Clinic for 32 years. I had both my knees done at Mayo. I have total faith in them. I actually have all my care through them. Your experience is so freaky! I pray for the best for you! You and your husband are in the best of hands!

I am so happy that things are in motion now. Spent the morning at Mayo getting all my pre-op work done. Everything is looking good. The next 3 Thursdays I will be getting injections in the other knee and the 24th I see the surgeons again. @nancyjo I have never been to facility/organization that shows shows so much care for their patients...through out the whole organization.

Happy to hear you are moving forward, and the wonderful report about the care at Mayo.

That is their vision in providing care. I worked as a nurse there 16 years also. I love that if there are any problems with anything, they pull groups of docs to talk over ideas to help you, so you get the best of their ideas.

This will all be over with before you know it! I'm so glad you're going to the best place possible!

I'm very happy that you are getting closer to finally get a good functioning knee. The Mayo Clinic is well known as a premier hospital system and I'm glad they are treating you so well.

If only all hospitals worked the same way. Peggy, it's February! A new knee soon!

I got called into Mayo to have my knee aspirated today. My labs were off and they wanted to make sure that the knee is still infection free. It is a little unnerving but I will keep the fingers crossed:) It was interesting to see how they had to aspirate it. I guess fluid normally gathers in the space under the patella. I don't have one.It is not so easy when you are dealing with the cement spacer. They got very little fluid to test. If it is not enough they will schedule me to have it done in radiology so they can see where to go. I was so happy that area still has no feeling because she moved the needle around quite a bit.....never a dull moment:)

I have attached another picture of the leg from a different angle. You can really distinguish the hardware that is in there.
