THR Fairydell's recovery thread

I didn't have any real trouble convincing Peter because if I wasn't sleeping, either was he. I agree you should stick with the ensuite. Our master bedroom is up some stairs so I was happier to stay on the main floor.

In these early days you need to do whatever it takes to get by.
Change sleeping arranagements, sleep alone if it's more comfortable, take naps if you're sleepy.
Things always seem worse in the dark of night when you feel you're the only one in the world who's awake.
I found lots of pillows helped my comfort level. I purchased and still use a body pillow. I love it. I had pillows everywhere, felt like I was in a fort and there was something comforting abaout it. It's such early days, dear fairydell, it really does get better and quickly, in hindsight.
@Fairydell

Hi my lovely fellow hipsters. Last night I elevated and iced and massaged the dead leg. It gave me a temporary relief and I managed nearly two hours sleep. I felt like a different person. Today I have been sitting in the sunshine in my pretty garden. The scent of flowers all around me has lifted my spirits enormously. I walked up and down the garden several times... It's split level so there is plenty of up and down too. I have just come indoors to elevate my leg for a while but am planning on going back outside to sit in the sunshine some more.. I am feeling a bit bunged up and bloated... if you know what I mean. Tony has just been out and bought me a bag of salted peanuts. That will soon set things moving. Hope you are all having a comfortable day and are really well and truly on the mend

Good Afternoon!
Another option for constipation is Pumpkin Puree'...if it doesn't sound unappealing to you. You could try it with a little Cinnamon sprinkled on top. It has to be straight Pumpkin Puree' as the only ingredient in the can. Never tried it, but read here it works. May be worth a try if the peanuts and dynamite don't help.

You sound wonderful! Walking and sitting in the sunshine of your pretty garden. How uplifting!
Just some cautionary advice as I received the same early in to my recovery....make sure to keep your incision covered while in the sun. You don't want to be burning the area :scare:
Wishing you some relief :wink: and a peaceful evening!
@Fairydell

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better today. Prunes worked for me. The pain is worse at night, like an infection. Some people take a sleeping pill, and that really helps them. I sat out in nature, too, and it really seemed to calm me and provide healing from the environment.

My dad slept in my bed, and I slept on the couch after my surgery. He was just here a couple of nights. I actually preferred being alone, so that I could do what I needed. There was a lot of night activity. It gets better with time.

I wouldn't have been exposing mine either, @Fairydell I'm with you on that!
When I find an opportune time to work in a warning / suggestion that I know many will read....I go for it.
It would be awful though if someone unintentionally fell asleep in the sunshine, on the privacy of their own deck or patio and got the incision area sunburned :yikes:

No nakey sunbathing! :loll:

There could only be one thing worse than watching us move from standing or sitting to getting in/out of bed and that would be watching us do it naked bar an incontinence pad! :happydance:

I envy sitting out in a nice warm garden. We aren't there yet but hopefully soon!

Steamed beetroot with butter & salt/pepper is yummy or pickled beets. Gets things moving too.

Pumpkin purée, beetroot ... you are going to need some time out in the loo... sooner rather than later we hope @ Fairydell

My scar is certainly not for general consumption .. [emoji51]

We are hoping for 21-22 degrees for our Easter Weekend... so keep those scars covered people!!!

Well it's 03.56 I have been awake for ages with my scalding ants tap dancing on my leg. I have just had a cup of tea and taken two codeine. I'm hoping they will make me drowsy and let me fall asleep here on the sofa. Stitches come out today...is that likely to hurt? I can't wait to see the scar.... hopefully it will be a nice neat one. For the life of me I don't understand how I can be so dry and thirsty. My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth in the middle of the night. I am drinking loads of water and eating plenty of fresh fruit.

It’s the codeine making your mouth dry @Fairydell & those [emoji220] [emoji220]... is those muscles waking up !!
Have to say I didn’t feel very much when I had the staples out... just a little pulling & tugging... my scar looked a little bulbous & angry but 2 weeks on it’s just going to a thin white line.
Hope it goes well for youx
