THR Fairydell's recovery thread

Hello :wave: I hope you've had a nice Sunday.
I'm sorry you're having such a rough time overnight.
With any luck your plan helps you get some sleep.
Bionics plan (above) sounds like an interesting idea also....whatever works.
Best of luck!
@Fairydell

Another dreadful night. I keep saying to myself.. this is temporary, this will end...…. I only wish it would end sooner rather than later. The little table worked like a dream. Unfortunately the bottom of one of my heals Is a bit tender from all the pushing up and down the bed and my kneecap feels as though it has been set on fire. Through the night these pains seem to magnify out of all proportion.
Thank goodness I am sleeping with a pillow between my knees as twice through the night I managed to turn onto my unoperated side. It is much more comfortable for sleeping but It's a painful struggle to get me turned back onto my back. I am terrified of dislocating the new hip. I am turning into a right old moaner.

Are you icing your knee?

I am icing anything that complains at the moment. It is the most wonderful relief. That's reassuring about dislocation as it terrifies me to think I would have to go through all this again.

@Fairydell
I had terrible problems with my heels the first week or so... my hubs came up with the idea of a fluffy bath mat folded in half

under my feet & since then I’ve had no problems at all....

Also a small, flattish pillow under my knee has helped...
It is so frustrating this lack of sleep ... it makes everything so much worse..[emoji3590]

Good Morning @Fairydell Just checking on you. I am so sorry sleep is still so rough. I’m going to try your water idea today. Maybe I am drinking too much before bed. Hoping each day gets easier for you. One thing that has brought relief to my knee is massaging with Egyptian Magic. It’s still very swollen, but just gently rubbing it upward seems to help before a I try to sleep. One of these days sleep is going to find you. Hoping it’s an easier week ahead. :praying:

@Fairydell
I was very concerned about dslcation too but if you follow what you have been told you will be fine.
My physio said that in 25 years of doing the job he has only come across 2 dislocations and they were from people who were not following the rules.
Hopefully that will set your mind at rest for a bit.

Sorry that sleep is still elusive. I would really be a mess if I wasn't getting a few half decent hours. I know I already feel at my limit of sensitive and dumpy. Hopefully you can find something soft for under your feet around the house as Hoppy Nanny suggested. You might try putting your ice pack under your heels for a bit after it has iced elsewhere and is just cool but not frozen.

Aww, poor @Fairydell
I hope things begin easing for you.
No consolation now, but I'll bet you notice improvement over the next week.
It's all only temporary....thankfully.
Hugs :console2:

Please make it stop.... I am exhausted

Why does it all magnify through the night? On a plus note, I managed a little sleep on my 'good side' with a pillow between my knees. I even managed to flip myself back onto my back so that I could sit up. Tonight I plan on going to bed early as I seem able to drop off to sleep before bed time, Then I am wide awake when I go to bed. As soon as I feel even remotely sleepy I will go to bed tonight.

That's worth a try Fairydell. I went to bed at 8pm last night and think I slept immediately, then slept until 3am. I did make a point of not drinking water other than to take pills for a good couple of hours before bed. Any you're right, it does magnify at night. I was like you last time and would get so fed up, then angry and crying, etc., etc. Eventually setting up in the guestroom with lots of pillows, my book, computer for TV, had control of my light without disturbing Peter. It worked for me. I slept much better and when I was awake in the night I didn't get worked up about it as much.
