THR Cpollock Surgery June 19, 2017<

@dougie0216 I also like the memory foam pillows. Every surgery has a different recovery. I'm working on losing the weight. It will come. I wish you well. Cheryl

@Layla thank you for your support. I'm glad about the 90 degree rule not being lifetime, that's a relief. Though he said to maybe go easy on going to the extreme of it for a while. Also not for another month. I wish you well. Cheryl

I'm doing okay, just too much overdoing it. My husband is in a bad way with his rheumatoid arthritis and is in a bad flare. He's either in bed or sitting still in his shop. Refuses to eat most of the time too. We went on a 6 hours road trip to his specialist appointment this week and his meds are changed but it will be a month before we know if the new drug will work. He can do absolutely nothing so I've been pretty busy doing housework, laundry, cooking, errands, etc. I schedule in rest breaks and have been careful in how I get things done. My husband is not a good patient either, very miserable so mostly I leave him be and just ask occasionally how he is or if he needs anything.
Have any of you felt like you could feel the prostheses inside when you Walk? It's hard to explain but it feels a little stiff and like something is stuck in my leg. I get occasional zingers and feel a little soreness too. More discomfort at times than anything. I'm thinking it's part of healing and maybe on my feet too much lately.
I'm back to work on Wednesday. 7 am sharp. That will be a real eye opener, hehe. I'm not a big sleeper inner but haven't been getting up til 630 or 7 most mornings which will change to 530. I'm looking forward to it actually and getting back to a regular routine. I feel I'm ready. I will be able to go for little walks around the base when I feel like it too. Where I live they have all the roads dug up and putting in new water lines. It's a hazard for driving let alone walking. Our street is filled in now and hoping paving will start soon. It sure will be great when it's done. I'm going to whip up some peanut butter muffins, will make extra to freeze for lunches too. Wonder what else I can make that's simple. Any suggestions? I plan on being more in touch with you all, I've just got a lot going on at that moment. At least I'm caught up on most of the things at home that need doing, not quite so overwhelming. I wish you all well. Cheryl

@cpollock Hi Cheryl. I just went back to work this past week and it went well. I'm definitely taking a quick power nap every day at lunch time 20 minutes or so helps. Peanut butter muffins sound good! I've been making trail mix for my youngest son whose into a fitness regimen currently. I take some to work also - dry roasted peanuts, almonds, dry fruit raisins, dried cherries, some type of cereal mixed in like Chex or Life Cereal. Take care...Rita

I am sorry about your husband for you and him. It makes it harder for you too but I be know a few people with RA I guess it's very painful. Maybe in part that's why he gets so crabby in part.

I am glad for you on many fronts ...work yes we'll be good for you. Safer walking there too.

Sounds also like you're working on many areas of your health. Yayyy I'm proud of you girl

Kiss the kitties for me :meow::kittymilk::catbutterfly::catdance::catdance::catbutterfly:

Thank you @birder I take a mixture of salted sunseeds and raw pumpkin seeds to work. I just have a handful, they're high calorie count but very good for us nutritionally. Your trail mix sounds good that you make, I may try that. Thanks for the idea?
I won't be able to nap at work and I work 7 to 5 but I can take walks and breaks very easily. I'm working 3 days this week and the same next week. I will go back to 4 days after that. If I tire out I can leave early. I wish you well. Cheryl

HI @MyAussieGirl. Yes RA is awful in a flare up and I feel bad for Gary. This is the worst I've seen him ever and I'm quite concerned. It's been the last 3 or 4 weeks it has been this bad only, at least to this point.
I'm managing even with all the extras I'm doing, proud of myself too. Leftovers tonight so not much prep for supper and I have a brownie pudding in the oven. Not good for losing weight, hehe but I've been craving something chocolate.

Yes, and yes, and yes.
Those zingers are zappers too...good thing they only last for a half of a second but they get your attention.
I feel like that mine is more prevalent since I've been up on my legs so much more...have been pleased alot of my numbness has dissipated but replaced with sore and zingers! Guess it's those nerves trying to sort themselves out.
Glad you're having in there...hope hubby feels better soon.

Thank you @Mojo333 I'm glad to hear I'm not alone, it's good they don't last long for sure. It probably is nerves in the soft tissue healing up. I forgot to mention this to my surgeon, I will start a new list for November when I see him again. Hubby is still in bad shape, he's sitting in the other room very still. He did eat twice today though, I insisted at lunch and again at supper. Now his stomach hurts tonight.

Brownie pudding is a self saucing chocolate cake. Lots of recipes you can Google and simple plus delicious @MyAussieGirl and yes whipped cream would be good on it @Gone again
It sounds like there's all kinds of healing pains but luckily mine are very manageable and hardly take tylenol anymore. My leg is slightly stronger each day but very slow going. I still limp if I don't use the cane but my OS said to keep using it til the end of October yet. I'm a good girl and will do what I'm told. At least I can get around without it if I need to which is a positive, like when I drop it and need to find my pick up tool to pick it up, hehe. I'm making dough in the bread machine, I'm going to make a little loaf and some buns when it's ready. I'm making pasta of some kind for supper so the buns will be so good with it. And salad too. Lots of brownie pudding leftover......... I wish you all well. Cheryl

That does sound good, Cheryl @cpollock
Sounds as though you're progressing nicely and being a mindful patient.....all good!
Yes, it feels like our little gang here is moving forward. After all, that was our goal....right?
It's too bad you're husband is suffering an RA flare. When you mention he just sits, it sounds sad as though he's just biding his time due to movement causing pain. Hopefully it lets up soon. It must be hard on him and for you too watching helplessly.
I wish you a pleasant first week back to work. Take Care!

Thank you @Layla for your well wishes. We have all progressed at our own pace and continue to do so. I love all the support on this site from all of you, it definitely made a big difference in this journey. And a few laughs along the way too.
Yes Gary sits still to avoid pain, it's awful. His left hand was cramped shut too, the tendons and the swelling is horrid in most joints right now. Hopefully it passes soon though today there is a little improvement.
I have today and tomorrow then back to work...... yay.

Cheryl @cpollock that was a very good report from your doctor-- and I hadn't remembered how involved your surgery was, so I'm glad the doctor is looking after you and making certain of the best results! And that you have the patience to keep up with the various aids and precautions and all.

I so feel for your husband, I've never known anyone in a flare-up, and it sounds absolutely miserable for him and for you. He has the best caretaker in you! How will he do with you back at work? It sounds like you are rarin' to go! Take care of yourself there! I think you are as prepared for it as anyone I've seen here, good work. How about bags of raw veggies, crackers/chips, and hummus. If you are careful with your dipping food, it's very nutritious.

At Mojo said, yes, yes, and yes. Stiffness goes with the territory, and will be worse when you're so busy. Ice can still help, if it feels good. I have never thought I felt the hip in there-- it's in pretty deep, and I'm pretty sure all I feel is the soft tissue. I didn't have zingers with the first hip, but this one is making up for it. I can't connect them with any activity, and sometimes wonder if it's scar tissue being stretched, as well as nerves still spaced out on trauma.

Sleep well tonight, and Happy Back To Work!!

Thank you @zauberflöte I myself didn't know how involved my surgery was til my appointment over a week ago now. There was a mixup with my 6 week checkup and I ended up seeing a different ortho guy. So I hadn't seen my surgeon since I was discharged and he said then that I'd had hip dysplasia and it was pretty bad shape. And yes I will follow what he says. I went to my final PT on Thursday and have discharged so that's great too.
Thank you for the snacking tips, I used to make yummy humus and had forgotten about it. I will have to do some up. I don't mind an odd sandwich but prefer other stuff like salads and homemade soups. I will have to do a couple soups and freeze it in portion containers for work.
It's probably soft tissue I feel too with stiffness that sometimes makes it feel like a stick is stuck in my leg, hehe. I only get occasional zingers and not everyday. Very likely nerves.
I wish you well. Cheryl
