THR Cpollock Surgery June 19, 2017<

wow Cheryl @cpollock that really is a whole lot to keep track of and have concerns for. I'm glad your DIL is ok! May her emotional healing have a smooth track, hard as that is to contemplate.

All the best to your DH, and mom, and dad and brother (lucky dogs!), and may all the tests and appointments and meds adjustments go well! I've had that cardiac test twice-- I glowed in the dark after! (not really....) I was advised to bring a "snack", so I brought a full breakfast, which was a good thing, as there was a whole lot more waiting than anything else involved in it.

Let yourself rest as much as possible, and your hip will pay you back handsomely in good results!

Hi Cheryl @cpollock
Just stopped by to say Hi.....hope you're still doing well.
I know you're busy, living life and watching over your mom. You crossed my mind this morning
so I thought I'd stop by to wish you a good day! Hope all is still progressing with your recovery.
Hugs

Thank you @Layla my dad and brother went camping so I'm staying with my mom. I haven't had much time to visit you all but I'm doing okay. I wish you well. Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, I, too, am just stopping to say hello. I am wondering if yournpain has subsided now that you have stopped PT and the exercises. I sure hope so. I bet your gait is slowly improving as well. You are keeping very busy. It's sort of like - how will you have time to go back to work :heehee:

HI everyone and thank you for checking up on me @dougie0216. Also thank you @GrannyC and also @MyAussieGirl I had a nice time staying at my Mom's. We relaxed and visited and went for lunch and supper once plus the casino. Watched TV a bit but mostly visited.
I seen my OS this morning....... hadn't seen him since I was discharged from the hospital. He checked me over and said I'm progressing well. The only exercise I'm to do is the hip abduction where he put your leg over to the side and back which are simple and pain free for me. I'm not to do any that cause pain like those leg raises and clam shells. He told me to use the cane around couple more months yet and it's mainly for balance. He said my surgery was very complex as my hip was dysplas tickets and the surgery was technical to do. And because I was in such bad shape with the limping before surgery I could limp for up to a year and to be patient with my progress and it will come. He said if my hip ever needs a revision it would be a complicated repair and to take care of my hip. Just walking is good exercise. Also need to lose some weight too which will extend the life of my hip which I already knew. I can get dental work done in 2 months and he gave me a script of antibiotics to take for when I go. 90 degree rule is in effect for another month so I was relieved to hear it's not a life long issue. Also said not to sleep on the operated side yet which I have been just not all night and to use a pillow between my knees still to lay on non operated side. But he prefers for me to back sleep too. I am not to lift my granddaughter til probably 6 months or so. My hip is titanium with a ceramic ball and x-ray looks great. All is good. I wish you all well. Cheryl

I am addicted to my memory foam pillow that goes between my legs. Even though I don't really need it anymore, I am so used to it I can't sleep without it. There are worse addictions.
Hang in there. I had a limp for the first few steps out to 19 mos after my first hip replacement. I had limped for so I long, plus it still hurt the first few steps.
I lost 15kg before this surgery... I've put 5 back on.

Keep on keeping on Cheryl. Slooowly, it is getting better. I think you have done wonderfully. Glad no severe pain. Hope you have a wonderful weekend

That sounds like a great report, Cheryl. It is always good and reassuring to hear directly from the dr that they think we are doing well. Patience, patience, patience is definitely what you need lots of after surgery. In time the limp will be gone but for now that terrible OA pain Is gone and that's what we all were really after. Enjoy your weekend!

It's great to hear you've had a nice time with your mom @cpollock
It sounds like you had a good doctor visit and It's understandable why
he's advising you to continue with the cane. I'm happy for you regarding the 90
degree rule being lifted soon as a lifetime of that would be difficult. I recall
the other doc mentioned that possibility. So this is good news!

Hoping you continue to improve daily and that you have a great weekend!

I'm thinking you must be feeling better and keeping quite busy as I haven't seen you post in a while. It seems like you will,be headed back to work shortly, too.

Hi Cheryl, I hope you're doing well. Haven't heard from you in awhile.
If I recall you are back to work soon.
Hopefully you're doing something fun on this holiday weekend.
Wishing you a good first week back to work!
