THR Cassidy's hopalong recovery<

Hip wise well, thanks - husband heart op wise, not so good, as we're all feeling really stressed until the op, which is scheduled for Tuesday, all being well. Husband, needless to say, is the most chilled of us all - he always is. Getting up to see him every day, but the visits do take it out of me. Took sleeping tablets last night, having tried without the previous night and managing 3 hours sleep, which resulted in a day of tiredness and nausea, so feeling much better today.

Note to self - it's not all about you now!!

Thanks for asking.

And you? You seem to be doing well.

I am just catching up on your journey. The timing for your husband’s heart issues is certainly not so good but at least, on the positive side, your recovery is going well and you can pretty much take care of yourself at home. But be sure you do take care of yourself and pamper yourself. You definitely don’t want any setbacks on your part. I’m sorry this has happened with your husband but he sounds like a positive thinker and that is important in recoveries, too, so I’m sure he will be just fine, especially if he sees how well you are doing. Get as much rest as you can these days. Lots os little naps and snoozes can be very helpful to ward off the fatigue.

Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way for both you and your husband and a belated happy birthday!!

Slowly, slowly. Not as advanced as you though. Starting to use one crutch more but the knee needs to adjust more. Also starting to be a bit bored with napping....Husband definitely bored with all the chores. I doubt I could tolerate car journeys every day it would make the wound area swollen and inflamed.

Where did my happy birthday message to you go?
Did it not post!?
I was off the forum most of the day and you were my only shout out!
Well...happy happy late Birthday
Hope all is well...hubby is inmy prayers!

Thanks all. Hope you enjoyed your birthday @Mojo333. I had a bit of a pity party last night when all the festivities were over and I was on my own in the house - my mind has always been over imaginative and I was contemplating it being a permanent state when hopefully it's only temporary. Feeling much more positive this morning, although I'm feeling tireder this week than at any time since the op.

Going to make myself a cup of tea and indulge in some birthday chocolate- good for the old endorphins!!

I had sorry of a let down too, Cassidy...and I don't have as much going on as you do with also being so early or in recovery.
Can you believe after routine appointment, my DH had been instructed to immediately see his heart doctor etc...plus I am nursing my knee after a fall last weekend that apparently did not get the break it needed.
We will have better birthdays next year.
You are doing good (for the shape you're in), that's what my pop says alot!:umm:
Hope today is a better day...when is hubby surgery?

Sorry to hear you're also experiencing life with a capital l @Mojo333. Op is tomorrow afternoon unless they get a more urgent emergency

I hope he is in good spirits.
I should imagine he is worrying equally for you.
What a story to tell when all is done...
Some tough days ahead but you've shown you are one tough hippy!

Far as I'm concerned, I'll borrow from Poe..
I have great faith in folks, self-confidence, my friends call it.:heehee:
I need to be more careful!!

Thinking of you, Cassidy and hoping you can get the rest you need in these still early days
of recovery. Rest up while you have help for hubs so you're able to better handle it when it's just the two of you. Happy Belated Birthday! Sorry your special day was most likely lost in all the confusion you're dealing with.
Here's a birthday flower for you  and wishes for the energy you'll need to get through this week.
Hugs to you!
@Cassidy

Husband has been taken up for his op. I slept 8 hours last night thanks to pills - probably 3 nights' worth of sleep, so am feeling much better equipped to face the day. Hip is mostly behaving itself - in fact I have to keep reminding myself what not to do, or I've done it!!

If he can get through the next few days, things can start going upwards again. I think of that hip op progress graph thing, and to be fair, most of the scribbly round and round bits have been caused by outside factors; my hip itself, so far at least, has been on a reasonably straight trajectory - not to say that I don't get the occasional unexpected ache or pain, but it's been manageable so far.

Thank you all again for your wonderful support. I think the scribbly bits would have been even more tangly without it.

That hip will be golden soon.
You are right...your tangles have been out of your control.
I've been a little tangled with life myself the last few days, hence not had a lot of time on the forum.
Have worried for you however, and am relieved to know you are doing so well (considering)
Please do update on how hubby is doing if you can...guessing it will be several hours?
Will be sending good mojo your way!:friends:

Thinking of you and hubby today. Please take care of yourself and trust in your husband's consultant. The first days post op may be a bit rough. But you will both make it through.

My friend, who's an orthopaedic nurse, said there aren't many female orthopods because they have to be strong to manage the job in hand - quite literally our legs!! Whereas a cardiac surgeon is better with small, neat hands - no real strength required. Makes sense.

I will have to look at the hands of the surgeon who recently removed a cyst from my index finger! At the moment, 4 weeks on there is no discernible scar although I know there was an 'H' shaped incision. Perhaps he was channeling his inner woman! His colleague who did my wrist fusion surgery must do embroidery in his spare time as that is also a very neat scar despite being 10cm long. He did admit to doing clothing repairs occasionally.

I hope your recovery continues to go well so that you can cope with your husband once he is home. If he's anything like my husband, he won't be a patient patient!

@Cassidy Hi, so sorry you are having so much to deal with, I think you get an inner strength to cope with it all. Thinking of both you and your husband and wishing you both get the healing you need. Hugsxx

Just wanted to chime in and send healing thoughts for you and hubs. Wishing you both speedy recovery.

Hoping hubs is resting comfortably by now @Cassidy
What a nerve wracking time. I feel for you.
Please get the rest you need also. I'm happy to hear you got 8 hrs sleep last night. That is wonderful!
Wishing you both comfort and healing.
Hugs to you.

He's in intensive care, having had a double bypass. He's pale and tired, but all right so far - if he can make the next few days he'll be on the road to recovery. Thanks for all your kind words.
