THR Cassidy's hopalong recovery<

Thanks @An54, I think I might stick with pillows then. Otherwise the discomfort will keep me awake as much as the side sleeping!!

Body pillow gets my vote. Love!!
You can wrap your arm around it, or place an arm underneath it while it's still between your legs.
I can't imagine sleeping without it.
Hope you've had a nice Sunday, @Cassidy
A great week to you!

At the moment I'm still sleeping on my back, and expect to for some weeks to come, but my husband thinks I should be ordering a knee pillow for when I can venture onto my side. Would those of you with experience please advise whether I'd be better off using standard pillows, a specially purchased abductor pillow or a long body pillow. I'm a very light sleeper and wonder whether the rather rigid abductor pillow would make me feel trapped, but I don't want to be worrying whether my leg might escape the ordinary pillows whilst I'm sleeping (assuming I rediscover such iuxury!). I read somebody suggesting a long body pillow, but somebody else commenting that it got very hot. Suggestions, please?! Thanks in anticipation.
Just putting in my 2 cents about this, although slightly late. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my body pillow! You don't have to have it up in your face, you can lower it so the top is where you want it to be. I also will use mine when I'm sitting up in bed, and kind of wrap it around my back so it's like a nice reclining aid. I can't really sleep on my back unless I'm sitting upright a bit because of a previously herniated disk that sometimes likes to let me know it's still there. Anyway, my vote is a body pillow!

@Layla and @dogchick, sounds as though I need to look into this here body pillow! Do either of you know where I can buy one? - Amazon maybe? Thank you.

Hi @Cassidy
Yes, Amazon does carry them.
I got mine from a national department store in the US.
Mine measures approx 50 inches long by 20 inches wide.
It was cheap also. Only $10
I'm sorry I don't know how to convert the above info.

If I recall....Dogchick got hers as a gift (?) but possibly she knows where it's from, or can share info on hers.
It's something I've truly loved right from the beginning.

There are many versions for sure.
I may need to graduate from my cheapie!
The style shaped like a "U" looks so comfy!!!
I'll need the bed to myself with all the pillow options out there :rotfl:
Happy shopping! @Cassidy

I've been reading about your dreadful socks elsewhere.
Can you call and ask for early release....telling them you've served your time.
At least graduate to knee length. I'm annoyed by your socks and they aren't even my socks :rotfl:
Creases and irritation at the top of your thighs sounds awful. I feel for you @Cassidy
It is worth a try...you may be pleasantly surprised.
Hope you have a nice weekend!
@Cassidy ...I agree those thigh high Ted's are terrible. My surgeon let me remove them at home as long as I was using the portable SCD devices on my legs. Worth the out of pocket money not to have to wear those stinky thigh highs.

Yes, I did get mine as a gift from my stepmom, but I know she got it from Amazon.com

Had a bit of a hiccup today. My husband's been having tests on his heart for some months, as he's got high BP and has been having cramping in his arm. Last night he was getting pains in his chest, but didn't want me to phone to get him into A+E, but I got him to the doctor today who sent him to hospital. They say he's definitely got something going on and his arteries look narrow, so they're keeping him in overnight under observation. I'm obviously very worried, but am glad they're looking after him. Why do these things happen at the one time I can't drive?! I'm so lucky to have three grown up children to rally round. Apart from only having a couple of hours sleep last night, I'm feeling surprisingly good hip wise today. Fingers crossed they'll send him home tomorrow, having got to the bottom of what's wrong - and it won't be anything too serious.

Yes hope that’s the case. It’s surprising how much of a toll hip restrictions and recuperation take on partners who are doing their best to look after us.

:gaah:Oh my stars, Cassidy.
Can't crises just wait until we can deal with them?
Hope he is OK...sending prayers.

@Cassidy, I hope your husband has some positive news that won't involve lots of hospital visits. If you do go with him please take a cushion to sit on. I had a painful episode of post op sciatica which was caused by two lengthy sits on hard chairs over Christmas. I now have a memory foam cushion on my work chair.
Look after yourself because your surgery was very recent!

Feeling rather weary - it's surprising how exhausting emailing/phoning can be. Sitting here on ice pack with feet up. Husband getting stents tomorrow. Been up to hospital once with supplies, hope to go back this evening for visit with daughter. May try to get wheelchair from reception. Never rains but it pours!!

How is your husband doing today? And of course how are you?
Wheelchair ride up to the ward sounds a good idea. Its surprising how huge hospitals are. Not yet three weeks post op, brilliant recovery so far, so best to save your strength for home. Hope you are managing without your assistant. I know I couldn't do without mine yet.

Husband getting stents tomorrow.
Oh dear. I went through this just over 2 years ago. It may slow him down for awhile and he won't be able to drive or lift anything heavy for about a week. But his energy levels will slowly build again. I hope your daughter can help out if needed. Please take care of yourself.

Aww, Cassidy I'm so sorry for you and hubby. It has to be especially difficult due to timing.
I hope he's home soon resting comfortably. Saying a prayer and sending a hug. :console2:
@Cassidy

I'm afraid it's worse than they expected. It won't be stents, as he needs a full bypass and possibly a valve replacement. I'm in shock, because he's not overweight, doesn't drink much, doesn't smoke, plays table tennis much and has a reasonably good diet. They think it's probably genetic. I've had to go up to London to see him, as they've moved him to Kings. It's been really hot today and my daughter's a/c in the car isn't working, but my hip held up. I'm shattered, but am watching light rubbish on the tv to try to unwind and am icing the hip. He can't have the op for a few days because he's been on blood thinners. I just hope he doesn't have it on my birthday, which is on Saturday, but if he does, he does. He's very laid back about it all.

Oh my stars Cassidy!
I know this has got to bed so tough on you!
I'm so sorry you are both going to be recovering simultaneously.
Sending love and prayers.
Please take care of yourself.
(My birthday is Saturday too)

I was finding back sleeping difficult, back sleeping with worry = impossible
