Happy Happy Joy Joy! Loved reading this post, can't wait to be ready to take such a step myself. I am compiling a list of "to-do's" for when I "can do" :).

Wow.....a 5K walk at 4 MONTHS???!!!! I'd say that's definitely not "average" at all. Wonderful.....just watch yourself and don't overdo it. Some pictures would be nice too! Have fun!

Hi I am at the hotel icing, elevating and resting after about 7 hours walking and playing at disney land. I am taking a about the same level of meds I was taking 7 or 8 weeks post op.
The 5k (walk) is in less than 2 hours.
I know I will be tired and sore but the mental boost is worth it!
Wish me luck! Today w/flying out the 5k was more walking that is I have done in some time!!

I DID IT
My best and I finished the 5k walk and did it well.
we finished in 51 min so spot on 17 min miles.
and I am thrilled!!!!
I had not walked that far since last May so fo us to clip along at about 3.5 MPH for about 50 min.... I surprised myself.
My body is tired but my heart and mind some how feel released. This really feels like a turning point.. I think I was aggressive on pain meds I because I was afraid of failing.
Icing and elevating again and soon I will sleep

:wow2: Absolutely fantastic! I can just feel your joy and satisfaction. What a major milestone for you! So much to look forward to---makes the recovery struggles all worthwhile. I'm just so happy for you. Judy

I'm up 5 hrs of sleep that was better than expected!
I was ready to feel really bad ........but I FEEL PRETTY GOOD!
sorest part of my body is my feet! They are tired sore and I am soaking then now.
I did ice my knee off and on last night.
All and all I'm VERY PLEASED for the day after a 5k plus...
the plus being th other 5 or so miles we walked around the Disney parks!!!!

Thanks again for the support!

Congratulations!! :yay: That sounds like so much fun! Whenever I go to Disneyland, and my knees don't get me first, it is my feet that pay the price when I am done.

Great job and can't wait for that milestone myself. I am 4 weeks out from LTKR and 12 weeks out from RTKR. Was doing great and then a suture was sticking out. OS had to pull it and guess it "festered" up things around the area. Hurt like the dickens when he pulled it. Am taking it easy this weekend but then back to PT next week and going to start working on the walking and cardio part of things. You walking the 5k is inspiration. Great job, and thanks for sharing!

Boy, that is just great!!!! You did so well....it is truly a milestone!

thank you, I'm almost in tears, (happy tears)
for some reason, I just NEVER thought after so many years in pain.... that I would be active again, and with out pain.
I'm even looking fwd to buying a horse in a few years and RIDING!!! something I had given up, was sure would never happen again........
today feels like a huge release, that this last year really did happen.... and that my life was changed in such a positive way.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :dancy:

I'm 7 1/2 weeks & still at that "I should be able to do this" stage lol But I know, from reading these posts...that I'm 'ok'. But I'm better by the day and even contemplating a mud run....in October of course!

My question to you is...horses! I love horses and was highly disappointed to read & hear so many say 'no horseback riding'. Have you heard anything about that? I know you use your knees to stay on and it can be high impact...if you move faster than a walk lol
So..just curious what you have heard about it. And if you 'do' end up with one..I hope you will share a pic with us!
