I have waited a YEAR to post this!!!!!
TODAY - YES TODAY! My Bionic Left KNEE celebrates it's FIRST Birthday!
I'm going out to lunch and buying a slice of cake! and CELEBRATE!!!!!
Here is the deal - for people that are measuring their time in days, weeks or months --- IT DOES GET BETTER!!!!!!!!
My left knee feels as natural as I can explain? It does everything I ask and with out PAIN. And pretty much no longer swells and is rarely if ever painful/ It took MONTHS for the swelling to really go away for good,,,, MONTHS folks for that to go away. Honestly.... I never imagined that I could feel as positive about this experience as I do......... it gives me the faith I need to need to know that in September this year my right knee will be a year old my life truly will have been returned to me!!!
I'm just so excited.......... it is has been an interesting path at times but wow! I feel lucky and blessed for what I see a 2nd chance at an active life! and more important a PAIN FREE Life! YAHOOOOOOOOOO really happy and excited!

thank you, I'm almost in tears, (happy tears)
for some reason, I just NEVER thought after so many years in pain.... that I would be active again, and with out pain.
I'm even looking fwd to buying a horse in a few years and RIDING!!! something I had given up, was sure would never happen again........
today feels like a huge release, that this last year really did happen.... and that my life was changed in such a positive way.

Honestly, my right knee is getting there, I'm struggling with tight IT band a problem that was an issue for years prior to my TKR - It is also still prone to being stiff (swollen I suppose), first few steps after getting up or down stairs, or riding in the car? it is stiff and somewhat painful. I'm trying to be good about getting up and walking around at work.
But I think it is fair to say that once I get the wheels turning :th_heehee: it does okay. I'm taking both my knees on a 5k Walk Friday night - that will be a great test! I have not really prepared myself? I just feel like I will be able to do it. 3.1 miles? I think I can do that.
I have for the most part stopped taking all over counter meds as well as Narc - although I have them and expect that I WILL be taking them this weekend.
I think the best part about keeping positive about my Right knee is to just remind myself how GREAT my left knee is doing!!! and it is 8 months ahead of the right one!
I have been good about riding my bike every morning between 20-40 min depending how my morning is going!

I'm very lucky as I get to celebrate ANOTHER Milestone this week.
My RTKR that I refer to lovingly at the "Average" knee lol whereas my left knew was a super high achiever lol as far as recovery goes.
My RTKR turns 4 months old today!!!
I have started taking anti-inflammatory meds again this week and I think it is offered significant improvement. My knee just was not ready to be with out them and it has cut down in the stiffness and tightness as well as pain I was feeling (pain off and on)
SO to celebrate BOTH my knees, I'm walking a 5K at the Happiest Place on Earth on Friday night!!! YUP a nighttime 5K at DISNEYLAND! OUT of the rain and mud of Oregon to SUNNY California - HERE I COME! (I fly down tonight!)

Thank you Carousel 66.That's so incredibly encouraging - have just posted on the pre-op area saying am feeling very "blue" today, but thanks to you now feel more positive again. Very best of luck for your walk. (TKR booked for 7th Feb)
