Whoa... 10 weeks post-op today!

Let's see where I'm up to...
Walking pretty much everywhere walking-stick-less.
Still have a limp, especially when I get tired, but not too worried. OS said could be 6 months before it goes completely.
Still park in disabled spots if they're available, but not so stressed if they're not. Can get in and out of the car without needing the door wide open. Just about ready to put the permit away until next hip goes bad.
Doing nearly all the housework now. Stripped and made up beds yesterday. Will be attempting vacuuming today.
Will be off all narcotics today!! Woo hoo. From today it will just be Celebrex and Panadol (paracetamol). I survived getting off the Tramadols! It was a bumpy ride, but I had a pretty good sleep last night. Headache seems to be gone.
Can sleep left side, right side and on back.
Ready to go back to work - and I mean READY. So I am taking my boss's advice, and taking one more week. Start date 22nd May. Have also enrolled back into university (starts 27th May) - I took a year off due to pain, and being drugged up I couldn't study effectively. I have 9 more subjects to go and a couple of pracs then I'm done!

Wow I have come far. The arthritic pain is almost a distant memory, and I say 'almost' because it's starting to rear it's ugly head in my other hip now - just to remind me!

Ally, that's a GREAT report! It sounds like we'll get you back here for your other hip sooner or later (and don't put it off too long. Recovery is easier when you aren't debilitated), but you'll know the ropes so well. In the meantime, enjoy this return to a very good life. :)

Sharon

don't put it off too long

Absolutely Sharon. I'm giving it 6 months, and if I feel the pain is increasing at all, I'll be back to see Dr Wonderful. The usual wait time on the list is 12months, so I plan to get on the list nice and early. I expect to have the other hip done in around 18months, long before I'm in agony.

ByGosh!!!! Quick check out you tube - Mitchell Anderson The Letter - it's there now!!!! Then tell me what you think...

Last time I saw him, it was with Billy Joel. Now THAT was a concert. Would have been probably in the 80's I think
Allycat Just catching up on the thread, I seen Billy Joel & Elton John in early 2010 what a great concert.
What a great report on your recovery!!!!! You ROCK girl Let us know how work goes for you next week.

Allycat Yes, yes, I'll go check out Mr. Hottie but first I have to tell you congratulations BIG TIME on you're amazingly wonderful recovery! I am jelous because not only are you ready to roll, but you got these guys giving you kisses at concerts and everything! What IS your secret?? And your OS is Mr. Wonderful? You've lucked out all around. Now to youtubE That one's for you zauberflöte!

Allycat AHHHHHHHHHHH! AAA LEEETTTERRRR! That's me screamin' and singin' and rockin'!!! Loved him! You're right, I can see why you think he's HOT. He gets my vote, too. You sure know how to pick the ones to smooch with Allycat! :heehee: He has a great voice and a good stage presence. I even saw Seal and the lady judge rockin' out when he sang. It must've been a good show. Too bad we don't have Aussie Voice in US. Let me know if he wins.
Wait a minute.......Did you ever write him a letter??????!!!!!!! Hmmmmmm......:rotfl:

Hahahah ByGosh Nope no letter from me (lol). Maybe if I were 10 years younger....

Not sure if he will win the whole thing, there are still a lot of younger, more good looking artists on there who I imagine will end up getting more votes from the younger audience. I just hope he puts out a record, or does some concerts - I would definitely go!!!!

What IS your secret??
No secret - This is pain-free me. The old me. The one that loves life and goes out and gets it. Now I'm really ready for Mr Right. And he'd better like music and going to see bands and stuff. Hhahahahaaha. And if he looks a little like Mitchell Anderson - even better (LOLLOL)

Hi Allycat I have just caught up with your 10 week report and I would say you have made excellent progress. It's wonderful that you can walk stick less and have ditched the strong pain killers as well as that you have a date to return to work By the way your boss sounds caring to give you an extra week.I am 2 weeks behind you and have just started to drive this week as well as being able to get in the car without the door being open fully open too. Well done. What are you studying ?

Allycat, what a great report, going back to work and taking a few classes at college. Too bad that you're feeling pain in your other hip now:sorry: It looks like you're getting out and enjoying life, what a great evening you had! I hope that you will continue posting here even though your life will get busy now.

Mamarey Have you named your hip Charlotte? That is too cute. I've never really thought about doing that, but it is a fun idea. You asked what the clam exercise was in octopus's thread. You can google it, I'm sure. But you lay on your side, bend your knees slightly, and raise one leg slowly into the air a few inches and slowly lower it back down. It is supposed to work on some medius muscle that takes a beating during hip replacement. Forgot the exact name of the muscle. Someone around here knows. I think it's Kim22 who explained it.
Allycat Do you post your knitting handiwork in the Social Room? Is there a thread there for art work, do you know? octopus was thinking of starting a thread for art, which is a great idea, and I wondered where you posted your cute little creations, besides your own thread.
Oh yeah, I have an idea. Maybe you should knit your rock star crush from the Voice a little something????!! :heehee:
I'll bet he could use a nice scarf to keep those million dollar vocal cords warm in the cold weather!! Just a thought....It's a lot better than a plain old letter, don't you think?? :rotfl:

Allycat My brother just called he is down in New Mexico & I guess he has a young girl riding along with him. Her name is Bella & she is an 8wk old Rotwiler puppy. I guess he really is lonely. I told him when she gets to 60 lbs don't get a hernia lifting her in & out of the truck.
