Yes, don't give up. And it would not be a good idea to stop any of your meds without consulting your doctors. It will work out, but sometimes you have to be a bit of a pain in their patooties to get it done!

Wheweeee...I have been boo hooing for 2 days now. Today was my 10th day of pt. I sat in a chair about 20 inches off the floor and they put a 7 1/2 pound weight while a worker there lowered it against my leg. Whoops I busted out crying...I lasted maybe 2 minutes at a time. I came home and went for a walk outside. I put 3 pillows on my rocking chair so my knee would bend better.(I was told to make sure and keep bending the knee) I am icing alot and elevating. I am fully engaged in the pt. ROM is 65 and my extension is 9. I am proceeding at my own speed. Anyways I have learned from bonesmart that the blues post op happens. I will just continue on one day at a time. I am just waiting to hear from OS when next appt will be and possibility of MUA. Thanks bone smarties for sharing your experiences. It gives me much hope and comfort in knowing we all progress differently.

Things are going slow for me. I am now 70 rom and 9 extension. The knee is very stiff and difficult to bend. PT started at 4 weeks post op. nov 14th. I do stretches and leg dangles and walking on PT off days. OS is being kept aware of the PT results. This revision became a total knee replacement. The 1st was 4 months old and I had 65 rom..so maybe this one is doing better. I do see a MUA in my future. Thanks for listening.

You are having a tough time, my dear. Wish there was something meaningful I could say to help but fact is, with extension like that, you need this kind of PT. It sounds horrible though. Hope it works soon.

Hang in there, Lanie......this may be a slow process for you, but as long as you are making progress, that's a good thing. Please don't hesitate to post any time....even if you just want someone to chat with.

Another week of pt finished today! No improvement..PT suggested I call my OS and make appt. My knee is still very stiff. At the top of my scar it sinks in and it is making bending difficult. Pain level still the same about a 6 when I get home. The OS cut down the norco to 7.5-325 . I was taking Norco 10-325. What a difference. I am ready for some relief. My appt with OS is Dec 15th.

If you are taking two of those, you could add one more regular Tylenol. If you're only taking one, try taking two!

I went to OS today. My rom went down to 66. I am 7 weeks post op. I am scheduled for MUA Tuesday Dec. 20th. My knee is so painful. The muscles are so tight and they just wont stretch out. The OS said my knee looks fine. I will be coming home with cpm machine., and then back to pt on Thursday. I will be icing and keeping up with stretches on my own as the pt will be closed 12-26-12-30. Now I will be reading posts about MUA and what to expect.

:what: I have read all the info on MUA..and we all heal differently. Soooo ready to be pain free and moving. Many ups and downs since the 1st tkr 6-20-11. The revision on 10-24-11 has improved somewhat compared to the 4 month saga with the 1st one. I am starting to get scared about the procedure but at least I will be under anesthesia. Tuesday is the day of MUA and I will be released on Wednesday to go to PT. I am hopeful and I won't give up yet.:rolleyespink::mrych:

Bill is so right. You're going to be just fine!

Lanie,

As we both know, revisions are a lot more painful than anything else that we face. You will think of the MUA as a small blip on the road to recovery when all is said and done.:wink1:

MUA done! OS was able to get a 95 ROM. I now go back every 2 weeks. I am pain free right now.:yes 4:The cpm is calling my name so off I go. Thanks to all your replies. It is so nice not to be doing this all alone. Thanx bone smarties.

The MUA will have caused some swelling, so remember to ice and rest it so the swelling will subside. You'll benefit from the MUA better that way.

I wento to a new pt center today. What a difference. The pt had me doing isometric exercises and my knee responded to the gentle method. I gained 5 more degrees in ROM. I may have to change pt. She even explained each exercise. I feel like I have wasted 4 months of therapy. Looks like things will be turning around for me! She actually told me what muscles to uses when I did the exercise. I was flabbergasted.

Hi Rich - welcome to BoneSmart! I can imagine you are bitter about your first surgeon, I know I would be. I also know he would be hearing from me on the matter! :wink1:

I do hope you have taken time to read in the Library about pain management and elevation, using ice and so forth?

I haven't posted in awhile. PT 3 days a week. Today I reached 90 rom. What a difference from previous pt. I am progressing at a turtles pace and that is fine with me. It is working. I take one pain pill before PT.
