Bilateral THR Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Sleep was hit or miss for me last night as well. I too have a list of 6 meds. Definitely confusing at first. Then I made a list of when to take what. I've been able to stick to it, and my pain is better today. I think doing what these folks here say about sticking to the schedule works. As the night wore on the pain tapered off to a very managble level, and seems to be staying at a low level.

Really sounds like you are doing fantastic, especially considering you did both! Hope you recovery continues to go smoothly and you get home with your little man as soon as you can. Stay ahead of that pain and ice, ice baby!
:yes!:

Just got up to use the bathroom and WHOA did it hurt to get from laying to sitting and sitting to standing . They gave me some dilaudid for breakthrough pain and wow... I felt this buzz just roll over me. Getting back to bed was easy peasy [emoji23]

@JennyLynne unfortunately recovery is a bit of a roller coaster. But sounds like you are doing amazingly well for someone who just had bilateral. Slow and steady - you'll get there!

@JennyLynne I’m following your posts with intense interest, but please take time to rest! Take care of yourself❤️
Have they given you any indication how long you will be in the hospital, or if you will go to a rehab facility after?

Just had second PT session - some lessons in moving and breathing (which I seem to forget to do) and a little walk in the halls.

Got a good nap in beforehand and feel pretty decent now.

There is talk of going home tomorrow but I really doubt it. So Thursday likely, but I will be assessed tomorrow as to whether I should be transferred to PT floor first. Not sure how it will play out.

Once I feel like I can get home and master one flight of stairs, I want to be home!!

@JennyLynne , is your son able to visit you? I know there is usually an age limit on children but don't know about orthopedic wing.o

hope you get to go home soon

Probably best to limit his disruptions, @JennyLynne, and they are tired after school.

I must say, I love your son's curls. Reminds me of my son (age 34) when he was younger.

You do sound like you are doing very well but especially for bilateral! I was weird about breathing too. I seemed to able to move OR breathe but not both at once :heehee:

@Carriemay60 I’m glad I’m not the only one!

Just had my easiest “getting up” so far- didn’t even curse this time, but probably didn’t breathe either, haha!

Went to washroom, brushed my teeth and hair, washed my face. Slowly feeling more human (for someone who just because more bionic).

Good morning! Had decent sleep last night. Woke up every hour but went back to sleep easily. Private room and ear plugs for the win.

Struggling to wake up today, very groggy and a bad headache (sinus I think).

Got a really annoying surprise when I went to the bathroom this morning. Old enough to need a bilateral THR but still young enough for a little monthly visitor (sorry if tmi). Really the last thing I need to deal with now!! ‍♀️

Waiting for OT and PT to start my sessions...

Oh darn ~ that's a bit of a slap in the face! What a pain, but I guess it's better than it showing up the day before surgery.
How many stairs do you need to do to get into your house?

:sigh:I thought I was going to have to go into surgery with that problem...thankfully it was a short visit...probably due to presurgery anxiety:dubious:

I would have dull headaches in the mornings for few weeks after surgery.
Maybe side effects of meds.
Actually a good cup of coffee would usually help it ease.
Do make sure you stay hydrated..
We double hippys had double the fun and double the blood loss.

Sympathetic hugs and best wishes for healing.
Really WILL be worth it.:friends:
