Revision TKR Story of My Knees by RestAssured: Pt 3

Hello Everyone! :happydance:
I went to PT today, and said goodbye to one of the girl's that has been there since I started. She has been like a daughter to me,and I have helped her through her first boyfriend, low self-esteem, and watched her blossom into a beautiful young lady. She is moving to Okalhoma, to help support her sister.

PT is going pretty good, but I still have to wear the brace or the kneecap will shift on some of the exercises. I can feel it trying even with the brace on, but so far so good, the brace I wanted to throw in the garbage before surgery, is taking care of me now! :happydance:

I was just looking at the numbers and I realized this is the 1000th post so pretty soon this thread will split again! Unbelievable! God has been so good to me and I am so grateful for all of the BoneSmart crowd, that has been with me! The names may change, because people move on with their lives, but the caring never does! To all of you, Thank you, and God bless!

Has it affected your memory at all? I was really worried about my husband, even told the kids his memory was getting bad. He was tired all the time too. Lots can go on from that little parathyroid. Is the water weight gain from that too?

Well, the thyroid problem has had a big effect on me. I can't remember a lot of things, like I put something down and I can't find it. I have been most fortunate in Graduate school though, because it hasn't affected my memory, and I can still use stuff that I learned from last August and apply it to my thesis papers! :happydance: The fatigue and lethargy has been horrible though, so I have been sleeping a lot more than normal. I am taking the higher dose of synthyroid now, but I realize that it will take time to see results. I have lost 5 of the 17 pounds I gained, so I am back on track! :happydance:

By the way, I received news that I am not pregnant today. I was kind of wistful, but I knew it was for the best because I don't want to have a baby and expose her to these drugs I am on.

I'm so glad things are working out for you! It looks like above you have already chosen a girl for your future baby! ha ha. I just wanted to share that it took me 19 years of marriage to have my one and only, by then I had about forgotten all about it. But God knows, I know you trust in God's timing. Bless you.

Yes, if I had a child I would like a girl. Hubby wants boy, but the things that he would teach him are way too much for me! So if I ever have a baby, please Lord let it be a girl! :happydance:

Sonja, it does surprise me that the docs are only going to just watch that parathyroid. So much can be blamed on that little glad going whacko. Like for my husband the serum calcium level is suppose to be 8.5 to 10.4 and his was over 12. something and then they tested some hormone and that is suppose to be 10 to 65 and his was 265, so his was urgent that something needed to be done. It was outpatient, with him having to stay longer in the day to keep measuring levels to make sure it went down. It finally did and he could go home. He was back at the farm the next day. All that extra calcium in his system caused him to have a over 13mm kidney stone then too. That was his year for stuff happening, otherwise he has been pretty healthy. So what I am telling you if you read up on the symptoms of that, maybe some of that is what is bothering you more then your other problems.

Debbie, thanks! I will read up on it, but they said that the nodule wasn't very big. Maybe that's why they are "just keeping a watch on it.". I know a wonderful endocrinologist in San Antonio that hasn't seen me in a couple of year's. I think it might be worth a second opinion. She is the tops in her field, and my neurologist had referred me to her more than 10 years ago when weird stuff was going on throughout my body! You know, that weird stuff might explain my sense of humor! :happydance:

Seriously though, thanks Debbie! Your picture looks a lot like a friend of mine that I have here, and I have a feeling that if I lived in Wisconsin, we would be friends offline as well as on! :friends:

I was soooooo relieved to find out you only have 3 icing machines in your garage. That I can understand. You seem much perkier---GOOD!

Yep, I am feeling much better! The thyroid medicine seems to be kicking in and I feel better! This semester is really intense because relying on teammates is going to be interesting. We move from a group of three to a group of 9 this week, and I have noticed that one of the three parts of our eventual teams is not doing their job! Well, we will need to encourage them, because 50% of our grade is based on each other this semester! I am up to the challenge though!:happydance:

Hi Sonja - I've been away from here a while. Wow-your life is just so interesting :gaah: ! I'm so glad you're starting to feel better. Keep it up !

Thanks Randi!

I don't know about interesting.... ! But my life is certainly something alright! The tummy problems are coming and going, and I am able to figure out when I am having them now. My body had gotten so used to eating healthy, that if I eat anything fried, or greasy, ipay big time for it. I guess that's a good problem to have if I remember in advance! :happydance:

Funny because I've been way, way, way, off my good eating habits lately -and sadly my tummy feels better ! Not much incentive to behave...

Well Randi,

I know that my hubby cooked a brisket tonight, and even though he drained off the fat, and had trimmed it way down before cooking it, I still got sick. Yesterday, I don't have any rational explanation, but when he asked where I wanted to go for lunch, I chose Kentucky Fried chicken's buffet! That was a BIG no no! I seem to be going bonkers, but I have lost 7 of the 15 pounds I had gained despite my bad lapses.

Oh shoot! Sharp pains radiating through the darned kneecap! I am so frustrated with "Capsie"! I was just posting a few minutes ago that I was feeling good to someone, and then "Capsie" went wild with pain! I haven't had this in a while, and I just want to scream! :yikes:

Do you think it knows when I brag on it, and it just doesn't want to be bragged on possibly?! :headbang:

Oh and the theory about eating healthy didn't pan out either. I am still having tummy problems! I need a break.

God, it is time for a break please! :thud: :beg:

Oh Sonja, I am so sorry Capsie is acting up again. I hope a couple pain pills and some ice and elevating will help. Or is it telling you it is going to rain there in TX?

Rain? What is that? We don't get much of that stuff and when we do Capsie and I go out and dance in it! :happydance:

Check the barometer, a quick drop could be the cause of Capsie's pain. No rain needed.
Very frustrating, you think you have it under control, and the barometer takes a dive.
At least that is how it goes for me.:what:

My in-home PT used to always ask me about the feeling in my knees when the weather changed. 28 weeks into it, I'm not sure how, but I know the knees feel different.

Well, I checked, and no weather changes, nor barometric pressure problems. Just good old fashioned orneriness from one very stubborn knee! To think I was saying such nice things about it too! :) I think the problem is it knows Katie has left the country for Scotland, and it thinks itcan be bad while she is gone!

Aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhh! I am so frustrated! :gaah: I don't know if you can tell by my first sentence..... I am hurting! :headbang: I went to PT today, and told Chris about the knee "popping" last night. He felt it and said that the quad muscle was extremely tight, and that the kneecap was riding on the edge, instead of in the groove. Rick came in and did the lymph edema treatment, and told me that there was a lot of swelling under the kneecap! Yup, so I am so frustrated right now. I cried as they massaged it, because it hurt. I don't usually cry, but I am so upset about this latest turn of events! When does my "normal" kick in? :sigh:

Capsie,I am almost ready to trade you infor a new model! :thud:
