sissy46 - hi nature warrior :)

Yes, I have been a bit preoccupied with the bush fires. I have a thread in the social room that I am trying to update each day, and I appreciate members dropping by.

I also updated my own personal thread, so more detail about how I am feeling in there...

Gather the warriors and come visit my threads.. we are heading into catastrophic weather conditions again Friday, so we are expecting more of the same...

Thanks hon, for asking after me...

Sissy, can I just tell you how much I hate stepping sideways on that flippin treadmill!!!!!!! That is the longest 5 minutes of my life. I swear I look at the timer about every 10 seconds and think, "MY GOD can time pass ANY SLOWER???" I'm not quite ready for a foot race, but soon........

There is a student at my school confined to an electric wheelchair. He likes to zip past me and yell "I'm winning!!!" Today he stopped and offered to give me a ride. Hysterical :)

I love your photos and check your thread everyday to see what you have posted. Please keep it up.

Sissy, I REALLY love the eagle picture. You are really making me want to get a camera with a larger zoom. I have a few years old Olympus, it is waterproof,(good thing in Kayak, but the zoom would not let me get that close, while i see eagles around, the osprey nest are where I could get pictures of babies every year in the spring/summer, but zoom doesn't go in enough. Hmmmm, got car for first hip, maybe if I tell my husband that he doesn't need to buy me the amphibious vehicle for the hip in March, just the camera. That may work?

Glad that your knees behaved themselves. I tell my husband that your retirement is how i would like mine to be, everyday in nature. I joke about opening Barnacle Beth's Bait and Tackle, morning hours only, to get all the fishing reports, and then close up shop and get out there.

Sissy, your photos are such an inspiration, as are you :)

You guys are giving me a big head, but thanks! bellaroma, I think you should talk a lot about the amphibious scooter, than say, "well, maybe just a camera instead."
My camera is not waterproof so I'm just careful with it. It is a Canon SX40 which costs around $300. Canon already came out with the SX50. I still have a Canon SX20 which I dropped in the water, and while it still works, it is temperamental.
I would love to see pictures when you start kayaking again.

You wimps! It's 4C (40F) her. Really mild for this time of year.
Ooh, I just saw this. After 66 years in Massachusetts, I deserve Florida! No snow, no ice, no slipping and sliding, no frostbite etc. etc. etc. Wimps, indeed.

Hello, my name is "Tammy" and I am a warm weatherholic!

LOL! Sissy, aren't we supposed to have coffee and doughnuts at our meeting??

Warrior girls.. One and all.. Just trying to catch up on all your progress ... Just wanted to touch base - haven't forgotten you xx

Poppet Good to hear from you. I think about you and worry about the fires down there. Glad you're okay.

A couple of Sanibel birds. Both of these pictures were taken from the boat dock outside the cottage.

Sissy and darn!, can't I go too and we can have some of those double chocloate croissants that dede62, has. I also am a displaced warmweatheraholic, I even have more issues because I am in the frozen tundra.

bellaroma Of course you may come to warmweatherholic anonymous meetings. Lots of people from Up North are down here right now for that reason.

how's the weather on Sanibel Sissy??????
wish i was there!
i'm going to have to start planning a trip down, maybe in the fall......
great pics as usual!
i remember the story of a huge gator down on sanibel, was almost treated as
a pet till it finally died......

Warrior girls... Thanks Sissy, sadly the fires moved north and 39 families have lost homes this time.. It is absolutely tragic... We have fires burning all over Australia at the moment in each state. The rain and cooler weather we had lasted two days and now the heat from what we call 'the heat engine' of Australia, central and northern Australia has arrived... Now we have temperatures ranging from 37 yesterday to predicted 41 today.. Also we have very strong winds fanning the fires...

This was issued just a few minutes ago.. 5:19 am Frid 18 Jan

More than 110 firefighters are fighting a 46,000 hectare bush fire in the Warrumbungle National Park to the west of Coonabarabran. A Total Fire Ban has been declared for today due to very high fire danger in the area. Currently 51 properties, 113 outbuildings, livestock and farm machinery have been destroyed. This number is likely to change as crews work through the damage.

The next few days are going to be particularly bad!

thoughts are with you Poppet, can't imagine dealing with that. Hopefully you are out of harms way
