How can you record on a smart phone?
I have an app on my iPhone called Voice Memos, and one you can download called SuperNote, for recording.

JustmeT,
I want to say enough and not do this anymore!
It is discouraging when you do everything you are supposed to and everything stays the same. Hoping along with you that someone is able to give you a positive direction.

It is very discouraging when you have been through this once already and you did not get better. I often feel I am worse after surgery. Yes I know I have to have a revision and I wish I could do it tomorrow and just have it behind me because, believe me, I am tired of the pain and inconvenience and how much it has slowed me down But I have to wait till June in order to qualify for FMLA - even though I do not have any short term disability - this will give me time to save money as my salary will decrease to 50% while recovering. So glad I have this group to compare notes with!

Hello. I understand you feeling discouraged. I had left knee done and was really happy with it but second knee, not so much. Two years out and I can't go up and down stairs. I'm expecting revision surgery too.
When you say you're tired of how it's slowed you down, I sure relate. It saddens me and I wonder if this will ever improve. Best of luck in June. I hope things go well for you.

I saw the revision specialist today (I had to reschedule from last week because of a snowstorm), anyway, the result of the bone scan, the tibial component has loosened. I'm not sure what I can say about this, I'm so disappointed, down and discouraged!

I'm glad you saw the revision specialist, Tessa. I'm sorry you had bad news, but try to look at it this way - the specialist has identified something he can re-do and make better, if you allow him. There's no way that a loose tibial component is going to fix itself, so please let him help you.

We'll be here for you the whole way through. :friends:

I wish it had turned out different, glad you have an answer to your continuing problems. I agree with Celle, a loose tibial component is not going to fix itself. ((((Hugs)))).

But it can be fixed, which is good. At last, you have an answer about why your knee has been so painful.

I'm scheduled for arthroscopic knee surgery on January 4th, I'm going to call my surgeon on the 3rd to cancel it, I haven't had a chance to talk with him since I saw the 2nd opinion dr back on the 20th. The reason for the scope is to go in to see if the problem with my knee can be found and to clean up any scar tissue that's hanging around. There really isn't any point in having this surgery now, the bone scan showed the problem.

What I would like to find out is why the replacents keep loosening?

Yes, Tessa, for goodness' sake cancel that arthroscopy as soon as you can. You have your diagnosis now and an arthroscopy would just put you through another operation, for no good reason.

Because the surgeon who did them isn't doing the job properly. Don't let him near your knee again.

My advice would be to stick with the surgeon who diagnosed the loose tibial implant and let him fix it.

Tessa,
The surgeon did not apply the bone cement properly, leading to the implant loosening.
I agree with Celle, let the surgeon who found the loosening fix the tibial implant.

If you are comfortable with the surgeon who diagnosed the loose tibial implant then have that doctor do the revision. I have followed you since the beginning here, I can't imagine how frustrated you must be, but your knee won't get any better until it is hopefully fixed for the last time. The revision should be successful since the problem has been identified.

The surgeon who diagnosed this already told me he doesn't do revisions anymore! He consults and gives opinions....

I cannot find the words anymore to vent how frustrated I am, I'm really to the point where I don't want to do this anymore!

Then ask him to refer you to a skilled revision surgeon. I wouldn't let the surgeon who failed to put the bone cement in properly anywhere near my knee again. To do so would just put you at risk of the same thing happening again.

I agree. Ask the surgeon who diagnosed you to refer you to a revision surgeon.

I'll agree with the others. Don't go back to that original OS again. The reason your knee is still hurting has been diagnosed. Ask that surgeon to refer you to someone that can take care of the revision properly. Once it is done correctly you will be able to finally get this all behind you.:console2:
