@Pumpkln
Thank you! It's been difficult to rest it because it feels like I didn't have anything done. It feels hot though, so I am taking it easy.

I sooo feel your pain with the frustration of having to start from scratch again do to error or poor judgement on the first surgeons part. It has been a 16 month post op struggle for me as well. At least you have the option to go and have the surgery when you are ready. I do not as I do not qualify for FMLA until June, nor do I have a support system in place yet as I just moved to TX. Try to think about the positives. ....that's what I do. At least I can walk whereas I could not this time last year. It will get better and someday this will all be behind us!

@jacksv153
I don't know if it there was an error on the surgeons part? All I know is that it needs to be corrected whatever has happened. The arthroscopy I just had on my knee was for diagnostic purpose and to take care of any scar tissue that was in there. I have an appointment on the 16th to get the results of this.
I am fortunate that I can go get the surgery when I decide to, the revision on the right knee this is, I don't have to wait like you do there. We are lucky with the system we have in some circumstances.
All you can do is stay positive and look forward to when it's good and you can move forward with your life.

The scope I had last week made the knee felt great until yesterday, suddenly the knee stiffened up and today it felt like a tearing sensation inside...not sure what's up with that. I've been babying the knee for sure, trying very hard to not overdo it, just doing gentle stretches atm and short walks.

I bet you've been doing a whole lot more than you realize. We girls are so used to getting up and doing things, that we do it without thinking. Your knee is angry right now and wants ice and elevation. I hope it settles down quickly.

@skigirl had scar tissue removed, she had to rest for a couple of weeks so the inflammatory process could settle down.

@Pumpkln
Until I go see the OS on Monday, I don't even know if it were scar tissue? Regardless though, I am really taking it easy.
That's right, I remember something about skigirl having scar tissue issues.

My surgeon drilled it into me that if you have some adhesions, you do not want to exercise a hot, inflamed knee. Just be careful until you talk to your OS and you find out what is happening.

@Celle @Pumpkln @skigirl
I saw the OS yesterday, he's letting me have my freedom! That's what it feels like at any rate, lol! There was scar tissue, some soft tissue impingement that he was able to take care of as well as he shaved the bone on the anterior of my knee. I didn't quite get the why but I will at the next appointment. There is some evidence of very early loosening but he doesn't want to do another major surgery on this knee unless absolutely necessary. I'm in agreement with this for now because I don't think I can handle it with a revision coming up in a few months of the right knee.

Glad you have some time to slow down and live your life. Hope you knee settles down and you can move forward, at least until the revision of the right knee. I am also interested in why he shaved bone off.

I'm glad you will have a rest from procedures.

Here's hoping your knee gives you some peace.

Love and hugs.

I also think that you need some time to rest. When you see your doc, I hope you get a very clear idea of WHY there is any loosening in the knee----was it improperly placed cement? What is the cause? I would not want to have your other knee done by this man who perhaps did not do a good job the first time. I assume that someone else is doing the revisions.

I share your frustration---it is so hard when some people bounce back from this surgery, to be one of the few with problems. Removing the adhesions will help with your rom---but shaving a bone? Is the prosthesis misplaced? I have never heard of this, in fact, I am going to tag Jo, our forum nurse to come and talk to you about this. @Josephine

There's no such thing as 'early' loosening! It's either loose or it's not and in your case it appears that it is. In which case, the sooner it gets dealt with the better because it will just go on getting looser and looser which will be more and more painful and may even damage the bone. I do suggest you don't delay it.

I thought almost five years ago when I had that first PKR on my left knee it would be the end of knee problems for years to come with that knee. Had I known what was in store, I wouldn't ever had had it done! I need a break from all things knees!

Take a little break now, Tessa, and have some R&R. But Josephine is right. Loosening will not fix itself, but will continue to get worse.

When you are ready, please don't let your original surgeon do the revision. Have it done by a surgeon who specialises in revisions.
