My patella was not tracking where it was supposed to be. It was pulled towards the outer side of my knee and the prosthesis was not lined up right. Once the OS got into my knee he also found that the original OS did not irrigate my knee enough before he closedied the incision because there were lots of little pieces of cement just rubbing against the soft tissue in my knee.

Before my revision my OS wasn't sure if he would have to do anything with my patella or not. The first OS had put a button on the back and fortunately it was OK the way it was. He removed all the other hardware from both the femur and tibia and the spacer were replaced with a new knee by DuPuy meant for revisions since the stems are a bit longer than the original. I'm at 6 months now and my only problem I'm having is that I still get swelling which he told me I could have to some degree until 18 months. I'm on my feet for up to 11 hours a day at work. I'm very happy I did it. It is now my strong leg.

@newlybionic
Happy to hear that your knee is doing so well. I am hoping that the issue I'm having can be corrected without the need for further surgery.

I'm in holding pattern atm waiting to see a revision specialist on November 1st...I am feeling so discouraged with all this, I don't want to do it anymore!

I'm sure that you are worn out by everything you have been going through but keep fighting to get your knee working correctly. You deserve that.

Hang in there, Teresa!
You have had to deal with such a lot, but hopefully everything will all work out all right in the end.
We'll be here, with support, for as long as you need us. :loveshwr: :friends:

I can understand how wearying this has been. We're here for you, so don't hesitate to talk to us.

@Celle and @Pumpkln

I'm trying to hang in there...
I'm wondering how anything else done with the knee can be a different result? I don't think it can and to be honest, I don't want to try. I feel defeated, this past year has taken a lot out of me...I think I've lost my fight?

What an emotionally exhausting year you've had! Let us know what the dr says on the 1st. You'll know what you are ready for and when you're ready.

I agree with KarriB, see what the revision specialist has to say, write it down, and get on with life. Sometimes just giving up will give you the break you need.
I know, I did it, and used my energy wasted on fighting, for other more enjoyable experiences.
A tactical retreat can lead to more rewards down the road.

Teresa,
I am saying prayers for some respite for you. I can't imagine the exhaustion and worry.

It's no wonder you feel discouraged and worn out. This has dragged on for so long.
As the others said, do go to see the revision specialist and see what he has to say. It may be that, looking at your knee with new eyes, he can see something that can be done to help. If you need to, ask him to write a few things down (I sometimes ask surgeons to draw me a picture, too), so that you can go home, assimilate what he has said, and then come to a decision.
You don't have to decide immediately. Maybe taking a break is what you need right now. Rest and refresh, but don't give up entirely.
