I am so sorry I have been away, but I am so happy for your outcome!:loveshwr:
I was wondering how you are? So nice to see you here!

I am having a few issues with what I think may be the quad but the knee itself is feeling good, its the first time in many years I can say this. I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel now...All I can think about is getting back on my bike...:)

I am having a lot of pain when I straighten my knee after its been bent past about 50 degrees. It doesn't hurt to bend it to about 115 but it is very painful at the bottom of my quad to the anterior of the knee when straightening it.

Hello Tessa,
I've been away and so I missed your surgery date. I'm sorry about that.

I've been reading through your progress and it sounds as if things are going well, except for this new pain. If it hasn't settled by now, perhaps you should contact your surgeon. Do let us know how you get on about that.

I see that you've already stopped taking pain medications. That does sound a bit early. It might help if you still take something. Even Tylenol (1,000 mg per dose, 4-6 hourly, to a daily total of no more than 4,000 mg in 24 hours) will help.

Keep doing the minimal exercise. It seems to be working well for you.

This pain as I described it above isn't getting any better, it doesn't feel like the knee itself though more like something has pulled tight then when I straighten my knee, it really is painful. I have where the pain is and where it radiates labeled on the picture attached.

I will in the evening take something if I need it and I do ice everyday...

I walk mostly and it does seem to be working. Also, before I had the surgery I did a lot of walking and building up my leg muscles, it helped tremendously I have to say.

I'm so glad things are going better. :yes!::yay:
Here's hoping that, after a few more months, you will be able to enjoy doing fun things with your children again.

The knee saga continues....
I have to a revision specialist as soon as I get the appointment. My orthopedic Dr is stumped as to why my knee is causing so much pain. The knee looks good on the xrays but there seems to be an issue between the femur and the prosthesis, it's either they are rubbing or there is scar tissue caught in between? Or something entirely different....
There is no consensus on what exactly the issue is but the physiotherapist thinks it's scar tissue caught!
All I know is that I need it figured out because it's getting more painful....it happens when I straighten my knee from a bent position and it's been waking me at night.....
This last recovery started out really well but has really gone south in the last 3 week....

Sad to hear things have gone downhill. Hope you find some answers soon about this knee.
Let us know what the revision surgeon says.

I'm really sorry to hear that your knee seems to be getting worse, Tessa.
I hope the revision surgeon can find out why. Do let us know what he/she says.
Hugs! :friends:

I'm just in holding patten at the moment, I hope to soon find answers though because I'm so sick of the whole knee thing!

I'm sorry that you are still having problems with your knee. I hope the OS can figure out what needs to be done so it works correctly.

How frustrating that you're having this new issue. I hope the new doc can give you some answers.

@newlybionic Thanks, I sure hope it's nothing too serious, I need to be done with this knee stuff!

@kneeper It is very frustrating, instead of moving forward it's seems I have gone way backwards. It feels worse now that it did even before I had the partial done 4 1/2 years ago.

I have an appointment with the revision specialist on Nov. 1st....my hope is that he can see something that my OS can't. My physiotherapist is convinced that is not scar tissue causing the pain. Where the pain is the worst is right at the end of the femur where is meets the hardware, the ridge there (anterior).
Anyways, to say I'm disappointed us an understatement. The knee is getting worse, I cannot walk on uneven ground, going up and down stairs is getting more painful...I'm mot sure where to go from this point?

What you are describing is exactly why I sought out another OS. I know you don't want to have more surgery but hopefully you can get your knee in working order.
