Revision TKR Revision Completed...Ready to get back to my life...<

I have taken the week off from all exercises, the knee just isn't doing any better. I wonder how much longer it will take. To say I an discoraged is an understatement...! The pain I have in my knee just makes no sense...when I am walking it's OK but when I am sitting it is not, when I go from sitting to standing it's excruciating, specially getting out of the car. Walking down stairs is no picnic either...I am at a loss as to what to do anymore to manage this knee?
@Josephine I think you maybe the best one to ask about this? Thank you in advance...

I am so sorry you are having so much pain. It is discouraging when our journey takes a detour then runs off into the ditch. After your fall, it is going to take time to heal. What does your OS or GP have to say about the tears? Have you had another xray of the knee? You are in my prayers.

A week is just a drop in the ocean. Wait another 4 or even 8 weeks before you expect any improvement.

If I was in your shoes I would fly to Vancouver & see Dr. Victor Jando for a second opinion, or a Doc with similar credentials closer to you.

Did your OS explain to you why your patellar button was not done?

Patellar buttons may or may not be used depending on the condition of the articular surface. There is no black and white to them being used. And currently there are more people without a button than with.

You are relatively young so I guess yours was in good shape. Thinking logically in my own mind knowing women have higher rates of osteo arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis it seems it should be standard to replace it.

Confusing though if it was in good shape why are you having trouble so quick? 2% club, well that just plain sucks sour lemons.

I know when you finally get it straightened out and healed up you deserve an award of some type. Mom of the year, patient of the year etc.
Reward yourself in some way like a vacation to a warm place where you can get a couple of massages while the kids are busy with resort activities.

Timetolive, It is very discouraging but I really do try to put the best foot forward (pun intended) most of the time, just that some days this is very hard to do.
The OS' initial thoughts is that I need a patellar resurfacing, he says the pain I have the way my knee is reacting is consistent with this. Yes I have had two lots of xrays on this knee since its revision, probably get more on Feb. 15th when I go back.

Bikesouth, I can't answer that about why trouble so quick...unless I did something I shouldn't have? I don't think I did other than a slip and a trip...that was ligaments damage not knee though.
Yeah, like who wants to be in this particular 2% club? Not me....

You did nothing wrong. Don't let self-blame creep in. :friends:
Circumstances forced you to be more active than usual, but you had to do that.
You may be in the 2% club now, but that doesn't mean you will be there for ever.

@Celle
It is hard to not blame myself because I really didn't take the time with this knee that it needed to heal after the day 12 recovery mark.
I do hope to get out of that 2% club soon...it's not a great club at all ;)

@Celle
I tell myself this often then say I cannot use that as an excuse for what's going on with the knee....in case it was something I did!!! A roller coaster ride recovery is what it is...

Tessa, I sometimes tell people to "be kind to yourself and kind to your knee."

You're worrying about not having been kind to your knee. Don't forget that the other part of the advice is to be kind to yourself as well. :friends:

In two more weeks I hope to get some definite answers as to what is with the 'revision' knee!
Its not getting any better, actually it feels worse than it did just two days ago.

I have been researching the patallar resurfacing after at TKR, there is so much conflicting information out there, @Josephine or anyone else who is familiar with this, maybe I can get your input?

I haven't done much here at home in the way of exercising for a 3 (maybe) weeks, just going about my daily activities, so far its not been beneficial that I can tell. The PT says that it is mechanical and is in agreement with what the OS said when I last seen him on Dec 21, 2015.
Its one of those ARRRRGGGHHH :yikes: moments that I keep seem to be having. Most frustrating of all, having to say "I'm sorry I can't do that at the moment because of the knee" to my kids...this revision was supposed to put me back in the game now keep me on the sidelines indefinitely!

Not a good update or anything, sorry! Just trying to figure all this out as I go...

Perhaps if you would enlighten me as to what this 'conflicting' information was?

The conflicting information is whether or not it's beneficial to have the patellar resurfacing done, some say yes, some no, some say it doesn't matter one way or the other. I am having trouble finding much on having it done after a TKA....
