@Slainte Thank you! I am hoping it's just a tweak nothing a good night's sleep won't fix! I got really upset with myself when this happened, I need to pay more attention I guess!
Wound vac's are great. I had two rounds wearing one due to staph infections. The second time was nearly 3 months. Do you have a sponge in your incision?
I have not done the extreme elevation in 3 weeks. Just in a recliner with a big pillow under my calf. I can feel a little blood pressure flucuation. Light headed when I get up quickly.
The soft tissue behind our knees post op moves real easy so you probably strained it. Keep in mind we are learning to balance different. Nine weeks ago if you walked on my left side & pushed on my left sholder I would stumble due to weight bearing right side dominate.
Be careful in sock feet too, so easy to slip in them.
I agree with Celle, don't blame yourself. Stuff happens, I think most of us have slipped and fallen.
Be sure to and , give your knee a chance to recover from your incident.
My husband is a big Cubs fan since age 5, he used to play hooky and go to games. You and your family will have a wonderful time when you go to Chicago. Something to look forward to until next summer.
Glad you have an PT appt on Monday, and someone can look at your knee.
((((Hugs))))
@Pumpkln I have been resting, icing and elevating for several hours now, I just took a little walk to the bathroom. The side of my knee is still very swollen but it didn't seem as painful, which could be because I took some pain meds a couple of hours ago.
I know stuff happens but I should have been more careful....
My husband used to do the same, whenever he could he would play hooky to go see a game! He was just teaching our six year old son about baseball....he was so happy with the Cubs playing in the post season.
@Bikesouth Do I have sponge in my incision? Ummm, not that I am aware of. I haven't ever done extreme elevating, if it were classified as an extreme sport I may be mire inclined to do so...lol!
I have been icing and elevating almost since I did this yesterday...the knee continues to be very swollen and warm to touch, very sore. When I bend my knee it feels like something is tearing, it burns and is vertical painful. This the feeling about my knee near the top of the incision scar.
I am still so very much disappointed that I managed to do this...
If it's not feeling better by Monday, let your OS know.
Do stop blaming yourself. These things happen so quickly. You're not the first to do something like this and I'm sure you won't be the last.
Part of the recovery process does include this: Be kind to yourself and kind to your knee. It's time to be kind to yourself. Hugs for you - ((((((((((JustmeT))))))))))
@Celle I have physio Monday morning, that is in the same place as where my OS' clinic is located, if the knee is still not better by then I will go over to his clinic to see if I can get in to see him.
I am having a wee bit of anxiety over this, (I think I explained in an earlier post about a promise I made?)! I know these things can happen that's why I should have been that much mote diligent.
I am being kind to my knee, more kind than I have ever been before...
Sweetheart, nobody's perfect! I think you're expecting too much of yourself.
You are keeping your promise, and more besides. Hubby would be so proud of you.
@Celle
I am afraid I have set the recovery back some, I hope not though? I think he would be proud of my efforts to take care of my knee....he would be (overly) concerned with it though because of what happened to it when I slipped.
Even if you have set your recovery back (and that's not certain) it will only be for a short time. Don't forget that this recovery takes a full year, so a little setback is just a short part of this long recovery.
@Bikesouth It isn't as painful but it's still swollen, I have been staying off it pretty much 95% of the time for the past two days. I will have a better idea later today how it is after I am up and about a little.
@Bikesouth I have had mishaps with both PKRs but nothing that ever popped and stayed swollen despite elevating and icing. That being said, you could be right that it's just some soft tissue issues.
I am going to have a little rant for you. , Ok now that is over. Glad your knee is a little better today.
I heard the Terra Cotta warriors from China are coming to the Field Museum in March, you may want to include that in your plans.
