JustmeT,
It is the stem in your tibia causing pain, it will go away with time. Rest, Ice, Elevate, and Medicate as prescribed on schedule.
You can time your pain medications so you are clear of them when you want to drive.

My heart goes out to you having to fill two pairs of shoes, do what you can, it will be enough.

Do you belong to a church or other group that can help you with driving and some chores around the house?
:console2:

I think the ache is just another one of the pains we get after a TKR. It's still early days in your recovery.
That it happens in the evenings is probably because it's the end of the day. You've been busy, you're tired and your leg is tired, too.
You're doing the right thing in resting and icing it. Are you taking something for the pain, too? Tylenol maybe?

Hugs to you. :friends:

@Pumpkln I didn't even think of the stem in the tibia... My sister flew home from Toronto the day after he passed away and she is staying until the end of November. She sadly doesn't drive but is amazing anyways! I have several people who will drive me to PT (it's a hours drive each way). I just need to drive around here where I live so the kids can keep up with their schedules.

@Celle I am still taking the pain meds every evening, I take a couple of Tylenol in the afternoon unless it gets to be too much for me then I give in and will take a pain med. I guess I am destined to not have an easy time when I have a knee replacement...

You're doing just fine, under very difficult circumstances.

Don't forget that it's still very, very early days in terms of this year-long recovery. It's not a month yet since your surgery, and ideally you should still be spending most of your time resting. Since you can't do that, try not to expect too much of yourself. Just allow yourself and your knee some time.

So sorry for your loss!

I feel for you - I can think of no greater wrench than to lose ones life partner.

Thank you Jo, its a very hard thing to go through but one must do what they have to, no matter if we want to or not! I have to be strong for my two kids as well as myself...

Just wanted to tell you how sad I am for you. Sounds like he let you know how important your health was to him. Glad you are honoring him by taking care of yourself.
Thank you! He was always there for me no matter what, the least I can do know is honour a promise I made to him! It was our last conversation...

With all that's been going on I completely forgot the 3 yr anniversary of my right partial. It was 3 years ago on Oct 24th...It's still going good with this knee, although there has been some aching that wakes me sometimes, or a sharp pain every now and then. Nothing I will worry about though because most of the time I forget I even have a partial replacement in that knee.

Had physio today, a very gentle session...the Rom is good, 112 /0. I am having trouble with the IT Band, its very tight and sore which makes it a little more difficult to do some things.

Good news is, I am permitted to drive again just not on the highway for the next little while.....I am good with that. I went to my surgeon's office after physio this morning.

You're doing very well. I'm glad you're allowed to drive again.

Keep on taking it easy with the exercise. Doing too much could further inflame that IT band.
Here's an article about IT band issues:

@Celle Thank you for the link. I am trying to take easy as much as I can, some days it's easier than others for sure!

@Josephine or @Jamie or @Pumpkln Can trouble with the IT Band cause the foot to be turned out when walking? Actually even with my leg out straight when laying or sitting my foots tends to turn outwards...it wasn't like this before the revision or ever.

Wouldn't have thought so. Are you getting any pain at the back of your calf?
