@cjf1222
I had thought about that too this could be a bit of nerve pain because it was a burning sensation. Its much better this evening though.

I am thinking more and more about getting this done and over with, that's today I am saying this, tomorrow I could be on a whole other page, lol!

Holy loud knee Batman! I walked the kids to the bus stop this morning, I could hear my knee, it was loud! :what: This is the first time in maybe a year or so since I have heard it, because I heard then I was sure I could feel it as I was walking!

That's not really my area of expertise, I'm afraid. So I wouldn't care to comment.

Well its been a few weeks since I have posted here, there isn't anything different happening with the knee, I have been following the advice of the OS and not doing anything strenuous on my knee. The worst thing is what feels like a deep bone ache most nights, it tends to be very painful. I have tried different things to get relief from this but nothing really works. I am trying to stay away from any pain meds for as long as I can because of the issues they can cause. I am a bit ( no a lot) nervous to try anything new.

Other than that I am still working two jobs, raising two kids and now have two cats...lol! I need my head examined me thinks...we have a new 6 week old kitten that we brought home last evening! She is my son's and he's totally in love with her.

JustmeT, I read your thread last night waiting to go to sleep. Your story is not conducive to sleep, yikes! I'm so sorry that you have a loose device, a husband away with serious back problems, little kids (I do not know how you do it. Our 18 month old grandson lives upstairs and visits, but I haven't been alone/alone with him since surgery three weeks ago.

You may want to connect to our current partial-replacement-hates-to-take-narcotics-rock-star: @jeano.

I'm perplexed by your inability to tolerate narcotics. Is it stomach related? There are more powerful meds than Zantac. It may be worth seeing a pain specialist before your next surgery, to develop a plan. You may need to travel to find a good one. They could figure out a way to have you almost comfortable, at least some of the time. Your primary care doctor seems worthless. I wondered about a Fentanyl patch? It's a narcotic, but delivered through the skin, bypassing the stomach. Toradol works well, but is super hard on your stomach. I think Josephine said it can only be used for five days. Bottom line is that no one should suffer with bone pain like this.

All I can say is "Ouchy!" No bungee cord jumping, please. Take care of yourself.

@Jane B.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story....sorry to have kept you awake!:heehee:

For me its a I just have to do what I have to do and enjoy it while I am at type thing. I guess we all have situations in our lives that are not ideal and could bring a person down but for me its all about attitude. Having a positive attitude will get you through some of the toughest of times even though there are days when it does get to you. A sense of humour for me is and being able to laugh at myself too, keeps life fun and moving forward.

As for the inability to use narcotic pain mediccation, they cause major stomach discomfort if I take them for more than a few days. I have not been diagnosed with an ulcer thus far and the only time I have any stomach discomfort is when I take any pain meds therefore I tend to steer clear of them.

Yeah no bungee jumping for me I am leaving that to @RestAssured, I will get it on video for her, lol!

@JustmeT

Now Bungee jumping is a distinct possibility in the future!:happydance:
No sky diving though! I am going to go flying on some "zip" lines also! Watch out world, it just gets better and better!:loveshwr:

@JustmeT , I have the same problem with oral narcotic pain killers and also steer clear of them as much as possible. I have gut absorption problems and also have trouble with some other oral medications. It does create problems after surgery.

@RestAssured

Zip-lining is something I am going to do too, looks like so much fun. My little guy asked if we can make our own, lol!

Why no sky-diving? Cannot get anyone to jump out before you to test the parachute? :rotfl:

@RestAssured

Sonja, Sonja, Sonja, we have been over this before...you jump first, l will pack the parachute for you! If I am feeling magnanimous at that time, l I will even do a video for you...lol!

@JustmeT,

Letting YOU pack my parachute :scary: would be like stepping into a lion's den with roast beef strapped around my body! Scary!:rotfl:

@busylizzie

It makes the thought of having more surgery even scarier. Maybe by the time I have the revision sometime next year there will be something I can take? Were you able to take anything at all after your RTKR?

@JustmeT , The last surgery the anaesthetist in prep op arranged for me to have a tunneled epidural as well as a spinal. The epidural was left in place 7 days and delivered bupivacaine not narcotics with a button that I could press to boost the dose. It worked for me better than having narcotics. I also had IV paracetamol all the time I was in hospital as I only tolerate an occasional oral tablet before I have problems.

@busylizzie

This is something I will have to discuss with my doctor before its time to have this surgery done. I think the thought of what its like without proper pain management scares me more than having the surgery itself!

What did you have for pain once you left the hospital?

Knee #2 (rpkr) is two years old...its awesome except for when it isn't! :heehee: I don't usually have any trouble with it and its ready to go most of the time. If my left knee was as good there would be no stopping me. I can kneel on this knee, it bends further than it did before the pkr and I at times, forget that its even a replacement. Its been a great experience with this one and I hope it continues like this for many more years!

Its been a few months since I have posted here but I have been reading and staying in contact.

I have a question, how does one psyche oneself up for revision surgery?(or for any surgery for that matter) It seems I may end up having this revision done sooner than I am prepared for and I am not mentally nor emotionally prepared for what it entails. Truth is...it scares me!!

Tessa, though I've not had to go through a revision, I have gone under the knife a few times: I think the same adage goes for any surgery as we heard when contemplating the first one ... if it's affecting your quality of life, then it is time to just set your mind to making life better. Sometimes we just need to set our mind to it, hold our nose, and jump! I wish you well, my friend!
