Well Done inspojo now if you can just get them stop supping on 'stray cats' :rotfl:

I'm with you there Toni. I just don't want to overload them with too much new stuff too soon. We are gently trying them on tea today, and already Polonius is showing a preference for Darjeeling, and can crook his little finger when trying to hold the cup, a pretty sight. Bunzastele looks like he wants to slap him in the gob but, patience...

A word of caution if I may be so bold!! If you keep this up they will soon be in tutus again.:yikes: You will have some of your very good lady friends very upset with that!:hissy:

Ooops even!! I was thinking more suits? Ties? Polished shoes? Y'know...

Serious question ( I DO have a serious side)... does anyone have any comments about TKR people and common-or-garden bleeding scratches, rose thorn cuts, shaving cuts, small things like that? I know that tooth removal requires an antibiotic beforehand. Rawness on foot from tight-fitting shoes ? scraped knuckles for whatever reason ?

inspojo, just treat these things as your always have. Clean with warm soapy water, whatever medication you commonly use (I use rubbing alcohol myself), and use a band-aid if needed. These types of cuts do not allow large amounts of bacteria to be dumped into the bloodstream suddenly and are usually not deep enough to present a problem. On the other hand, deep puncture wounds need to be treated accordingly and usually require an antibiotic.

So now you can relax and stop worrying unnecessarily.

I know a few people who have had knee replacements and they don't worry about getting cuts and scrapes. One of then had a very nasty scrape on his knee. He just slapped on the peroxide and kept on hiking. It's funny that before I knew I needed a replacement I didn't know anyone that had had one, and now they are coming out of the woodwork! The guy with the scrape lives only four houses up.

I know exactly what you mean, Myway. I'm seeing warriors everywhere...

Beware of animal bites, if you get bitten by a cat or dog (or other types of animals, not certain if your warriors are lethal) you must seek medical attention. I had my hip replaced in December 2012 and was bitten by the family (and I say this loosely) cat in April. I had to go to urgent care, had a tetanus shot and put on antibiotics. I keep my distance from this beast from now on, he is adored by other family members, but would probably feed the warriors for a few days as he is a hefty 30 lb maine coon cat. I would offer him up but he is adored by those that take care of me and I often think it would be the cat over me.

Thank you Cindy, that is serioously good advice and a definite possibility in my daughter's home whch harbours 2 dogs and a cat, who love me loads and tend to show it by scrawming their claws affectionately on my leg... I'll have to practice left footed kicking I think.

Well the civilising of The Lads is proceeding well. SWMBO and I brought home a few bottles of a fine wine last night , to show them how it should be sampled, tasted and sipped, and the proper way to hold the glass with thumb and forefinger, the other fingers splayed in genteel fashion. The wine in question was Chateau Plonque 2012, and the Lads seemed to like it but of course we didn't allow them to take much, just a few sips, all the while making derogatory remarks about fermented mare's milk and pina colada. We taught them a simple song that went " Pina colada bad, Mare's milk bad, Chateau Plonque good" , which they seemed to enjoy singing. Their voices are quite good, but could use some training. I'm thinking of teaching them a chorus or two of, say, Gilbert & Sullivan operatic pieces that they might sing at parties... couldn't help noticing that the glint in Bunzastele's eye was worse . I wonder if he's getting an infection? Also, he's the only one having trouble holding the wineglass properly, he grasps it in both hands and has already cracked three of them. At midnight we suggested bed, put away the remaining bottles of Plonque, and arranged for classes to resume in the morning . Poor Bunza's eye really looks bad...

Well where has he gone? I do hope the lads haven't revolted and done him harm. :beg:How are you doing Jo? Jo?

Well, regrettably, we've had a bit of a disaster... When I went to call them for the day's studies yesterday, they were gone. Vanished. There were several empty Plonque bottles scattered about Panic stations. SWMBO and I got into our cars and scoured the countryside for hours, but not a trace could we find. I did notice while on the motorway that the centre crashbarriers were missing for about a mile, (remember we had pointed a gap out to The Lads as an example of poor building) and then we spotted that every single front garden on our route had a newly constructed stone throne on the lawn, all of similar design and looking very like crashbarrier sections. Then I recalled the glint in a certain eye and a knot formed in my stomach. If this is ever pinned on us the repairs could cost hundreds; I'm very glad I've got a business partner to share losses 70-30... We returned home, despondent. When we pulled into the yard we saw a warrior-type foot sticking out the garage window, crept over to the window , looked in, and there were the 7 hooligans stretched out asleep on the floor, covered in cement dust and snoring like hogs. Talk about relief!! I grabbed a padlock, put it in place on the door , threw a few pamphlets on Deportment and Dress Tips For Warriors and a couple on How to Chat Up Women At Dances in the window. When eventually they wake up and start banging on the door I shall read them the Riot Act and give them their orders, nobody gets out until they can dress properly in suits, white shirt, tie, polished shoes and can chat up women with some semblance of charm. Oh, I am very cross... this could take some time.

I'm sorry that the lads are giving you a hard time as the extra work must be hard on your knee. On the other hand us ladies are are glad they are resisting your attempts at refinement.:rotfl: Some how they just wouldn't be the same.
How's the knee coming along? Not causing you too much discomfort I hope.

Myway. It is precisely because you are ladies that I am trying to train The Lads in the paths of righteousness. The pain in my knee is of no importance whatever. What colour suits would you like them to wear? Ties? What topics of conversation should I be schooling them in? They are like blank canvases; I could have them saying things like "would you mind awfully if I asked you for the honour of the next dance?" or " what a beautiful frock. What type of material is it?" Do let me know your recommendations...

What I've been afraid of has happened. The Warriors, to whom we were giving a solid grounding in the social graces, have been taken away. I don't know where they are but I know whodunnit. Wild horses couldn't drag the name of the person responsible from me, my lips are sealed. You can rest assured of that. But that person has bitten off more than she can chew, mark my words well. The Warriors are high maintenance, high input requirement, high expense, and they have developed very high expectations during their time with SWMBO and me. They need modern clothing, including underwear; they need more lessons in deportment, singing, conversation, current affairs etc. They might turn violent if they don't get these things. Beware, o courageous liberator of Warriors! They get ferociously possessive of whoever minds them. Beware...

I kinda think She Who Shall Go Nameless will try to undo all the wonderful work you and SWMBO have done with the Lads.:groan:Just imagine how terrible all of us ladies will fell is she lets them return to their barbaric ways! Going around wearing nothing but leather vests and skirts or less. Hiding all those strong and brawny limbs under suits and polished shoes. Shocking!!! tisk, tisk, terrible, terrible business I say! RestAssured I don't know who is responsible for this outrage!:hissy: All I can say is You Go Girl!!:rotfl:

Oh but they longed for "A Woman's Touch". And Joe just wasn't fitting the bill! Mind you, he gave it his best shot, but these lads are learning a new trade now! They are working in the oilfield, where they make a lot of money and can grunt and scratch to their heart's content! After all, that seems to be the general "talk" among men when they get out in the blazing sun! Oh, they have joined in the peeing for distance contests, and seem to do quite well! Yes, yes, they are fitting in nicely! :)
