Ask your surgeon and see what he says.

Did you do anything about looking for a second opinion?

Actually not yet.since I was last on here I received news that my adopted mom has an extremely fast growing brain tumor and doesn't have but a few weeks to live so I have been so depressed bout everything, with supporting everyone and dealing with my pain I haven't gotten up the energy to call. I just can't seem to get out of this emotional ditch yet

borymms4,
Sorry to hear about your Mom, take care of yourself, and be there for her when you can.
You can call about your knee when you feel up to it. It is not going anywhere.

I am sorry about your Mom. You are in my prayers for strength and comfort during this time.

@borymms4
I'm so sorry to hear about your Mum. Spend this precious time being with her. Your knee can wait.

Thanks everyone. I just got back from my os appt. And I m beyond upset. He said that just cause I m allergic to nickel has may have nothing to do with my knee replacement. He wants a bone scan done and said if the bone scan comes back neg, he will do nothing except send me the physical therapy and cortisone shots. He says the reason I m falling is just cause mayb I have weak muscles and the is the only reason people fall from a knee replacement. It was all my fault for the way I ended up now cause I m not physically active that much. But I physically can't do it and I told him I feel my knee shift out of place and move and that I can barely walk much less function and he said Oh some people have chronic pain from a replacement. He said all is good. His physicians assistant who I saw the last time even told me something is wrong and they would fix it but not the surgeon,he says just cause surgery is an option doesn't mean we need to use it and do unnecessary surgery. He said my knee is pretty swollen but he said the cortisone shot would talked that away for a little while,I was like what? For a little while? He said yes it won't last long but enough to give u some relief. Rite now with everything going on,all I can feel and do Is just give up on trying. I guess I have to stay with way. (Sorry I m venting but I have no one else rite now) thabks for listening

That's what they all say when they don't know the answer or don't want to admit something is wrong.

Be with you Mom now, but later look for a second (even a third and fourth) opinion from someone who specialises in revision surgery. Those guys see lots of problem knees and they can often spot something that other surgeons miss. You'll need someone who has no connection at all with your present surgeon - not professionally, not in the golf club and not in the "old boys" network. That way, the new surgeon can look at your problem with new eyes, uninfluenced by your current surgeon's ideas.

Hello everyone. I have gotten great news. Went to see my 2nd opinion. And he is very familiar with allergies in knee replacements and knew right away what the problems were, more than I knew.
1. I m allergic to the nickel in my replacement
2. My knee is misaligned
3. My kneecap is dislocating and is rubbing against my replacement.

I will have surgery on April 4th. I m happy but nervous cause he only does spinals and I have never had a surgery that way. Oh and he is giving me a gold knee. Is there anyone familiar with this one and does anyone know the name of that brand? He told me but of course I forget.

Already got my blood work done too. They have to special order the knee since they only make them when requested. He listened to me and took time with me. Was very nice to have a surgeon that cares

That really is great news! :yes!::happydance::yay:
I'm so glad you found a surgeon who listened to you and who really looked at your knee problem.
Best wishes for your revision.

I don't think you need to worry too much about having a spinal. Lots of people here have had them, with no problems. They do give you some "happy juice" to sedate you a bit, so that you aren't bothered about what is going on.

Thank u. And thank u guys all for ur support. I m ready to get a knee that my body likes

Oh yes! We are very familiar with it. The name is in the picture. And though there is nickel in the device, it's buried under several layers of safe materials such as Zirconoium and ceramic.

Hello everyone. I was wondering when I get my spinal will I also get a urinary catheter?
I fell the other day and hit my face on a metal chair arm so I m trying to relax all my sore body parts and all I can do is over think and worry bout my surgery ,April 4th. Thanks for listening

Sorry to hear you fell and hit your face, hope you feel OK. You will have to ask your OS about the catheter, I had one with my spinal, they took it out later that day. April will come quickly and this will all be behind you.

Thank u for being so supportive. I really appreciate it. My face is swollen, black and blue and hard to eat, open jaw,but at least it will heal in due time and it wasn't worse

I'm sorry you had a fall, but glad that you didn't do any serious damage. Rest as much as you can and allow yourself plenty of pampering. :friends:

Oh my, I am sorry you fell. We all were anxious and nervous, then calm, then wondering what we were doing! I found being informed and prepared helped me the most. I had a catheter with my spinal that was removed the next morning. I was glad! No worrying about using a bed pan right away - I am a little pee-pot! :heehee: I worried more about the bed pan than getting a catheter! You will be in my prayers for a successful surgery. Just think - your new knee will bring you new life!
