Oh forgot to say I told them that the ice had worked really well and how I wished I'd had it in hospital and they said they were surprised it had worked so well!!!

Duhhhhhh.....too bad they don't read BoneSmart!!! :D

hi natalie
i got home on the 10 th aswell. i was looking for a thread from you & couldn't find one , then it dawned on me today you had a knee! so i checked on knee forum & found you so i've read your journey, thank goodness you got in after all. its really frustrating not been able to do things isn't it? all be worth it in the long run though, keep resting
melanie x:D

Thanks Melanie I read your thread the other day too,it is very frustrating not being able to do much!
What have you been doing with your time since getting home?xx

That is just amazingly bizzare that they don't believe in ice!!!!! I thought it was something universally known......a drug-free pain and inflammation reducer...... I had it around the clock in the hospital......

Good luck with your recovery, Natalie!!

Natalie, I'm sorry they are keeping you in so much pain!:shk: Pain makes it extremely difficult to move around and feel good. With all the pain you are in, it's no wonder that you have a knee bend of 20. When the swelling goes down, and the pain eases, you will start getting a lot more flexion. Just give yourself time and pamper yourself. You deserve it!:D

hi natalie
all i've done is watch tele & read magazines, cant really do anything else at the min. i havn't felt too great so not bothering me too much at min but im sure it will soon. i've had quite a lot of visitors which has been nice. im having to have a lie down in afternoon, i tried to miss it on wed. but i felt worse for it so while my husband is off work ggoing to try & lie down every afternoon. what about you? my knee has been really swollen & my high too , over twice the size of my other one! im walking with 2 sticks, you have crutches don't you? how are you managing with them?

Hi Sonja it has been tough but I'm getting there my knee bend is between 40 and 50 degrees depending on the pain.

I think pampering sounds like a very good idea :)

Hi Melanie,

I'm doing much the same watching TV and reading mags and reading a few pages of my book every so often,I'm doing exercises every hour too so that is keeping me busy as well.I don't seem to be able to get that afternoon nap as I just can't get comfy and I'm not sleeping at night either :(

My knee is really swollen too and there is some lovely coloured bruising all over my leg!:hehe:I'm managing ok on crutches but can't really go too far.

Have you been out anywhere?I haven't and to be honest I'm a bit scared about going anywhere I feel dizzy lying down god only knows how I would feel walking around somewhere!

What meds are you on?xxx

Hey Natalie! Hang in there girl! Sounds like you are really toughing this one out!

The dizzyness - did you manage to ask someone about the blood thinners? They really made me SO dizzy for the entire 5 weeks I was on them. I finally passed out one morning due to the reaction. You might want to ask and see if that might be what's causing your dizzy spells. Please be very carefull moving around until you can get that under control!

Yes I asked but they said they didn't think it was likely, probably just the drugs I'm already on :(
I have been downstairs today for some visitors and I felt sick all of a sudden and had to rush to the downstairs loo then lie down with a cool flannel on :( I'm back in bed now and still feel odd so I'm just going to take it easy xxx

It could be the painkillers. Can you ask for some anti-nausea meds? The strong stuff reallly makes me ill as well. I took anti-nausea meds the whole time I was on the strong stuff in hospital.

So sorry you are feeling bad. Best to take it easy for now.

Take care Natalie. We are all here for you!

Hi Nat -

sorry your first trip downstairs and you got sick!!! Hope you are feeling better soon...I am thinking of you and wishing you well!!!

xoxox,

Linda.

Natalie....I read that you are trying to do some exercises each hour. Just be sure you aren't pushing too hard with that right now. You really don't need to do much at this point and it is more important to rest and get that swelling down.

ThAnks everyone I took the anti nausea meds when I got back upstairs and they made me feel loads better.
Jamie physio said I had to do them every hour do you think I should ease off this?xx

It depends on what you're doing each hour....tell me your exercise routine.

I'm doing 10 knee bends, sliding leg up and down and 10 thigh strenghening with towel underneath my knee and then 10 pushing knee back on edge of bed.

Okay....those are all great gentle exercises for this stage of your recovery. If you do them "every hour," how many times each day does that translate to? I would think 3 times a day would be enough.

No I'm doing them at the least 5 times a day and the most 8 i seem to have really stiffened up today and I'm worrying as this has all happened to me before and I needed an MUA on more than one occasion!
