Health cover is very expensive. We pay $280 per month.,that is family top hospital cover plusvextras like dental, physio, acupuncture etc.
@MaeveOh my I wish mine were that kind of expensive. Your dollar is worth 4% more than mine, so let's call them equal for my poor brain. My family of 4 (last year) paid, for an individual health plan, $1500/month, $3500/person yearly deductible, but bright spot is $10,000 yearly family out-of-pocket max (
for covered services, natch!). Prescriptions extra rider, no dental, free eye exam, free mammogram, free GYN annual for me. Medicare kicks in at age 65, but may not be around much longer, and has so many quirks and loophols that people go nuts trying to manage theirs. Current health insurance plans (offered by for-profit companies; even hospitals are free enterprise for the last several decades) are often offered by employers, and can include families. We had that decades ago, it was very nice indeed. But us self-employed types have to purchase an individual plan, very expensive as you are a " risk pool of one", each of you. OTOH our employer won't penalize us for eating Girl Scout cookies, which is just about where Obamacare has landed us.
Thus endeth the health insurance lesson for the day......
