All the best to everybody having surgery in the coming days. Did you read Jack's post? Let's tango in the fall. Good luck:dancy:

Well 3 days to go and im feeling suprisingly calm at the moment
i think ive got most things in place ,my little boy off to stay at nanna for a week, childminder organised to take him to school while i cant drive and cleaner :yay:sorted to give the house a biltz for the first six weeks -wahay she might even do a better job than me:th_heehee:
my pearching stool and chair at the ready just got to get the grabber today, and starting to organise what im taking in with me not sure if its the calm before the storm which im sure it will be with me :hysterical:or just that im so desparate to get rid of the constant pain and get a good nights sleep soon instead of burning the midnight oil swapping beds trying to get comfortable -and ive just recently got a new bed  and i cant wait to get my life back on track and start living again.i know its going to be a while before that can start but the feeling that im finally going to be post op and on the recovery road :yes 4:is going to be fantastic

May 11th for me. Worried, excited, nervous, the new me! The usual mixed emotions with this!

Rayray, your day is coming soon. Of course you are nervous - that's part of it. But you won't regret doing this - believe me!

Keep posting. It really helps with the pre-op jitters!

Rayray,

Of course you have all of that, we all did and sometimes still do. It's been one week for me and sometimes I'm still feeling like that. Best of luck to you.

My original date for the surgery was today - scheduled back in early Dec 2010. 2 weeks ago the office called to reschedule my surgery for May 7th because the OS is out of the country on holiday this week.

I made it through the entire winter without even a sniffle and passed my pre-op tests in the hospital on Friday. Since Saturday, my son has had a severe cold and has been generously spreading his germs all over the house through sneezing, coughing and touching everything in sight. I am keeping my distance and spraying disinfectant in the air and all surfaces as he passes but I am worried that he will make me sick. Would surgery be canceled if I catch his cold? I have been surprisingly calm since getting closer to the date and I just want this over and done with before I lose my nerve.

Hi Jenny, this is the hard part isn't it? I was SO worried about getting sick pre-op.

You are doing all the right things. Wash your hands often, keeping eating healthy foods, etc. I used hand gel all the time!

If you do get a sniffle they probably will not postpone. If you have a fever that's another matter.

But for now just stay positive. You will be on your way very soon!

Hi Jenny,
I am may the 10th and I am surprises at how calm I am also, I think you get to a point that you just have to get it over with and nerves go out the window. I am also worried about catching something as my mum is in hospital and I fear those super bugs. Should I be worried, how easy is it to pick up a hospital infection while visiting?

Hand gel, hand gel and more hand gel! Yes you can pick up lots of bugs when visiting the hospital. Not just "super bugs". The trick is to carry and use sanitising gel often.

Well this is my last post, just finished final tidy around at home off to see my mum and drop karl off at his nannas :thumb: then drive down to the hotel near hospital for an early start tomorrow feeling a bit nervous today but not as bad as i expected,im putting that down to all my lovely friends on bonesmart for their words of encouragement advice and support.a big thankyou guys and i will give you an update when i get home.good luck to karen-my twin tomorrow :th_heehee: and everyone else having surgery this week lets all hope for a sucessful outcome :thumb:

Good Luck BlueRoses (Karen)!!!! I`m sure we will both do great tomorrow and I`ll see you on the other side!

Good luck, hon....lookin' forward to that first recovery report from you!

My husband (who I don't think will ever post for himself here until surgery finally makes him unable to work for a while!:hairpulling:) is having DAA THR on May 26th.
He wants to be pain free (or have a lot less pain) and be able to play a little basketball with his grandsons.
I want all those things, AND to be able to share simple things again, like walking in the park, climbing to the top of a tower or look-out point, AND no awkward moments during sex!!!

He is feeling very nervous. I'm feeling excited at the prospect of returning to our old fun life. Sometimes that makes me feel guilty.

I have so much organized in preparation for the surgery, I'm almost obsessive. Does anyone else feel that way?

The countdown is on!

Good luck other May hippies.
JS

You're not alone in the prep work, JS.....many of us find comfort in that "nesting" thing. Just go with the flow and rest comfortably knowing that you'll be prepared for anything that might come up.

Blue Roses and KarenJ, I've been thinking about you, and hope all went well for you on the 5th.
Lucky ladies, now on the road to a whole new life.:yay:
Take care!
JS

JS - the nerves are normal. We all had them and they do get worse as the day approaches. Tell your husband to share them here. It really does help!

I hear your obsession with the preparation. I went through lists of activities and stocking up on things. In the end I needn't have bothered. As Jamie says - just go with the flow.
