Helloooo, My Dear:

Well, I am actually kind of glad I didn't check in on the site at all until today because I certainly would have been so concerned for you. Luckily, I was able to cut to the chase and am so pleased that you sound much better and even seem to be enjoying some of those special summer treats with the family (yeah - you really got me going with the nutty coconut ice cream, too and I'm not even a huge ice cream fan!). Now, if you can just get those little boys to stop beating up on their mommy... :th_heehee:.

Though it sounds like you had it way worse as far as it being so prolonged - I can relate a bit more now that I know what it's like to have a rough start - I just posted the details on the post-op thread Denise (Spring Chicken) started for me.

I know you're going to get better every day now and I really look forward to hearing about your progress.

Peace, love & happiness to you! xo, Vicki

Pain Dr. yesterday said to try to get out each day even if its just for a few minutes - so today my MIL and I took surprised Westin and took him to his favorite place (Old Mcdonalds) - we will take Leo tomorrow - they are just so much easier and better behaved when they are alone. It went well but I was exhausted when I got home - I've rested and feel better now.

I'm hoping I will sleep better tonight that last night - I was up from 2:30am - 7 am today, then back to sleep until 9:30...

Thanks for all the replies on my thread

xoxo,
Linda.

Aw geeze, I am up til 1a.m and getting up at 5a.m. on this Prednisone! I am speeding too! Everyone here is laughing their heads off. I can't stop moving!

You should email me! I am probably going to be awake :wink1:!

Linda, hope you are getting much needed  today!

well had my appt w/ OS - said all looks good - I can drive whenever I'm to a point that its safe to do so medication wise...he took the bandage off - I don't have staples this year, just dissolvable stitches and steri-strips...told me to wait another week or two before swimming but I should b able to get into the pool before it closes :snork:

no formal PT for another 4 weeks - wants me to heal for 6 weeks before testing it much - except for walking - I can do as much of that as I want...

said my LLD should resolve over time - I will have to take him at his word at this time - it just feels like more of a discrepancy that last years did...

well off to take my other son, Leo to lunch today as I took Westin on Weds - they are so much more well behaved when they are one-on-one than when together :skeptical:

Hope all is well w/ everyone else,
xoxo,
Linda

Hi Linda, great visit with the doctor. And you are allowed to drive, yeah! I bet you feel very good now after having had such a bad start. Congratulations. I have 2 girls (grown up now), but they were the sweetest little angels on a 1 : 1 basis, together a handful at times. Enjoy your lunch with your son.

Hi Linda, I posted this on another thread but worth asking again - are you really supposed to drive after only 2 weeks? You said your OS doesn't want you to "test" your hip much for 6 weeks. Are you really able to make an emergency stop now? Just worried - sorry!

its my left hip that had replaced...yes he told me I could drive!

xoxo,
Linda

also forgot to mention I'm walking on my own and just started doing stairs again :yahoo: he said that was fine, just didn't want me starting to "workout" my hip w/ hard PT so soon...
:wink1:

Well, I tend to agree with Jaycey on this one sweetie. Please, not until you are off all the narcotic meds! Remember the accident a while back? You will really have me worried...xox

Sounds like things are finally going very well for you Linda. I'm glad to hear that. Soon this will be a distant memory and you can get on with your life and enjoy all those things with your boys. Keep it up.:thumb:

xoxo

I think I've hit the blues this time around :secretaea: don't know what to do w/ myself and feeling so sorry for myself - just want to b able to function on my own and can't yet - sometimes I can walk just fine and other times it really, really hurts - there's no rhyme or reason to this - I just have to start out and see what I get - does this sound normal? sometimes have a lot of pain and other times not???

I'm finding it difficult to distinguish how much I should be resting vs how much I should b up and about  how does one figure that out?

also weighing heavily on me is that Westin starts kindergarten on the 17th and I'm not sure if I'll b able to meet him after school each day at 3pm at the bus stop, or if I should have him bused back to his daycare...I don't want to confuse him...

xoxo,
Linda

Aw Linda - sorry you have the blues. But you do know that's part of recovery right?

How far is the bus stop? If you start now taking very short walks - down the driveway and back. Then when that feels good over to the house next door and back, etc. I'll bet you will be in shape to make that walk to and from the bus stop.

How much should you rest - as much as possible. You are not even a month out yet. And you were very ill after major surgery. Be good to yourself - rest, ice and elevate.

well I've already walked to/from the bus stop - I try to do it a few times a week - its more so being ready to do it EVERY day and then having a 5 year old on my hands when I could possibly b needing to rest...but I am leaning towards doing it and not sending him on to daycare...I have another 2 weeks from today so I figure I'll b ok by then...

xoxo,
Linda

Sounds like you already have the walk to the bus stop nailed! I am sure you will be fine. Just tell Westin he might have to walk a bit slower at first.

All this and only 3 weeks out? Girl, human bodies don't heal that quickly - you know that!

One figures it out by stopping when it hurts and then trying again later. You're still supposed to be resting and recuperating - lots. Time will come when you can start doing more but now is not that time. Another 2-3 weeks perhaps.

I agree, Linda.....concentrate on taking things easy these next 2 weeks and see where you are. You'll know the right thing to do when the time comes to make a decision.
