hhhhmmmm  nope...no one ever even has mentioned this as a possibility although i have had 3 colonoscopies...

What is that, if I may so humbly and dumbly ask? I've never heard of it??? Thanks for fixing the signature too, I was alarmed :hate-shocked:!

I thought of C. diff too. It's been brought up here before. It's a stomach bug that comes around in hospitals. But doesn't sound like Linda was in there long enough, and she said she had these spells several times a year. So that's why I didn't bring it up. And if they test for that, test for e. coli too. It's more common, coming from eating food.

Hoping you feel better. Your electroclytes must be really messed up at this point. And there may be a point in which just trying to drink (electrolyte filled bevs) may not work, as I think they can be hard on the kidneys.

So, I'd call Doc if things stay out of control.

Had the same question Rebecca. Linda maybe you should go to ER. Have they tested you for C diff? Please call your GP and ask.

i would but i have NO veins - when i had to go back for the uti, they had to use a infant needle to get blood and to treat me - i have NO veins and would have to have a PICC line installed to even get a blood test at this point due to all the recent abuse to my veins - 9 tries at pre-op appt, 2 hospital stays and dehydrated now due to virus or whatever the heck it is...that is part of why im not going to ER is b/c i have NO veins and i know people will say its the lab or nurses jobs to find them but they are not there....

i feel like i am in a living hell so nauseous and phenergan doesn't do anything and pain meds aren't even touching my throbbing headache - my virus is worse than the hip replacement

Gosh Linda--you have had a time of it! Thinking of you and wishing you soon feel like a million bucks. :friends: But please don't let this go on and on without checking in with your doctor. Keep them completely informed and stay in touch with the office and make lots of noise--they have an arsenal--you need all hands on deck here!!

the Dr. and home health care nurse know what's going on - no one knows what to do for me - I'd settle for just having hip pain at the moment.

Linda, not to scare you honey, but I think this has gone on WAY too long and you need to go back to the hospital. Something is very wrong here, from what you have told me is going on. This is sounding more serious to me.

Please go to the hospital! Let them do the PICC line, but you need doctoring and fluids my little buddy. That means IV's. Just my opinion...

this is the same thing i get 3 or 4 x every year (last in april)...i've been hospitalized for it 2x as an admission and countless times in ER to get hydrated...no one can figure out what it is...dr said as long as im urinating and no more blood im ok. this "bout" just happened to coincide w/ my hip replacement.

i kept everything i took in down/in today - so hopefully im on upswing. sometimes this lasts up to 3 weeks for me. (sorry bout bad typing trying not to wake hubby.) ill have a good day or two then relapse. hopefully im done w/ it for now :secretaea:

thank you to all who have responded, i do really appreciate it and am thankful. hopefully i'll b in a better mood soon,
xoxo,
Linda

Glad you can keep some food or fluids down, Linda. But I have to agree with Janet. You can so easily become dehydrated, especially after your recent surgery. Hope your stomach/gut will settle now, and you can be on your road to recovery. Just wonder: What about pain meds, ft you vomit and have diarrhea? How do you cope with that? All the best.

You have been in my thoughts today Linda. I sure how things are calming down for you. How's the hip feeling?

The hip is ok - I'm on a lot of pain meds due to my tolerance and they are keeping the pain at bay. I'm already sick of not being able to do anything for myself and being up in bed :hissyfit: still have headache and feel nauseous but keeping everything in and down so that is good. Been going the bathroom number 1 enough too :wink1:

my whole incision site is covered w/ a white gauze type material and clear plastic - it is very itchy but I cannot get to it to itch it (which is probably a good thing) - I just shower right over it - I didn't have this type of covering last year

Bill is taking boys to get a haircut - I look fw to seeing them w/ their buzzes :snork:

xoxo,
Linda.

Glad you are feeling a bit better. Just take it easy and try and get some fluids in your system.

I had that same covering over my staples post-op. Are you allergic to the adhesive or is it just the incision that itches?

Take care Linda!

Linda, I'm so sorry you continue to have problems. Hang in there and I know it will get better for for you.

Glad things are starting to turn around Linda. I'll be thinking of you.

Aw Linda. I too hope things are on an upswing for you. Its hard enough to deal with the rehab thing on its own. But to have to deal with the rest of it. I have had both my fiance and my daughter here sick with respiratory and a gutt thingy over the last three weeks. Makes me nervous.

Hang in there girl. It's gotta get better.

Thanks everyone - I finally sleep last night! I think its the 2nd night since I've had surgery that I've actually slept! And guess what, why do I feel more tired today??? LOL

The virus seems to be resolving itself so now I hope to be able to focus on my replacement and recovery...

I had the anterior approach (I believe since my scar is on top of my thigh?)...my Dr. didn't know what approach he was even going to take until the op itself due to the complexity of my case - the rod in there - it seems so different than my first op...

there is more pain as of late and the only thing i can attribute that to is not having the virus pain that was masking the hip pain? :what:

xoxo,
Linda.
